The Spirited Sixth Sense ...

If they are trying to hook up with someone under 18, then I'd agree. I'd also say they should spend their time dealing with actual crimes with real victims ... but that is whole 'nother situation.

But when it's a 36-year-old married dude looking to hook up with other dudes (or sometimes even women!) at the CBR, I think it's just some very messed up people ... I won't say whether I believe the Disney Lifestyle attracts that or not. So many cans of worms, so little time.

Now I'm not saying Ive done this per say, but Pleasure Island .... well sometimes you would meet a single lady and over the course of an adult beverage or two it would start you down the path of other pleasureful behaviors.

Oh, the Spirit knows soooo much ... he even knew you were getting all neurotic about your upcoming DLR trip!!!

But I do admit, just when I think I can't be surprised anymore by anything ... well, something happens and I am.
I knoooooow..... But the first step is acknowledging you have a problem and so I begin down my road to neurotic recovery. Are ya proud like I am???? :p

People do not surprise me. I'm painfully aware of how rare regular ol' boring (sometimes referred to as normal) people are. I would love to find a few who would like to rent a house from me.

I thought I used to be obsessed with Disney, but thanks to a thing called "life" and actually leaving the continent and traveling to other Disney parks and countries, I realized there was more to my life and the world besides "the world" and "the world" is one hell of a stale place I haven't visited in close to 3 years now while Uni kicks it's butt.

I wish people who enjoy WDW or 'enjoyed' it would get out of their comfort zone and try something else, whether it's another Disney destination, another theme park destination or simply another destination.

There is so much to see and do and when I think about what I used to spend at WDW and how much time, well, I want some of both back. I held tight to my own Pixie Dust addiction for far too many years. Then, I realized I could still keep some of it provided I wasn't spending 45 nights a year at WDW O&O hotels.

PS I don't dream about the Orange Bird. That is just wrong.

A very good thing that Scary Steven doesn't have an OB plush ... I don't even want to picture bedtime there!

I really wish that of some of my friends too.... I wish they would realize that Europe > World Showcase, that Africa > Animal Kingdom, that there's a huge wide open America right here for the taking and the seeing and experiencing. That there is food way beyond what is served at these so-called high end restaurants.... (Its called mortons, even if it is a chain)... that there is a real brown derby.

There's a great big world out there to explore.... and I wish some of my friends would realize it.

Don't even know if I should post this. It won't likely surprise anyone. But since I just got a note from an animated fellow ... here goes: Iger wants a Frozen 2 ASAP.

It took them numerous shelfings since the Eisner days to get that movie where it was. Why rush another? Just follow the formula that got you to the success. Create more IP and captivate people. They have arguably some of the best and most talented people in the world... Utilize their skills! It's just like the wasted talent in P&R.

As long as they hire Robert and Kristen Lopez, half the battle is over.

I sympathize with this, and sadly for me it did lead me to a "I think I need to cut some people out of my life conclusion" that you find offensive (having been on the "cut off" side, I appreciate the offense).

The truth is, a lot of us who grew up with WDW and this rabid addiction to it are adults now. And I'm not even speaking of internet ppl anymore, I am speaking of my own real acquaintances (no naming of names!). Sitting here, in adulthood, I have to say WDW doesn't really do it for me anymore. At all. It is impossible to NOT want to talk about and to study because I do have a rabid love for theme parks. But I do not care to visit it.

What does this have to do with people that I have known for years? They're on the other side of this equation. They're addicted to WDW. Even if they don't like what the parks are now, they still come anyway and see the few things they care about and buy insane amounts of retro merchandise and whatever. And you know what? None of these actions are ever going to bring the WDW that we all cared about back. It's gone. Never to return. But my Orlando acquaintances come anyway and then get all depressed and sad when they can't find what they REALLY want. Again, we're talking about adults. Addicted to a theme park. A theme park that makes them miserable that they really don't even like visiting. But they still love it? This is a relentless pursuit of reliving a childhood that never was and never will be. It's not healthy.

So I sit here at adulthood, like you, enjoying a wide range of things outside of Walt Disney World; traveling both around the USA and abroad being among some of those enjoyments. And I have people that I know that will NEVER join me on these adventures. It's not because of money. Not at all. Very rarely do Disney lifestylers have problems finding disposable income. It's because they simply don't care about the world outside. And this gap widens in just about every aspect of my adult life. It's very hard to relate to a person who has no perception of the world outside the zip code 32830.

I'm sorry. When it becomes impossible to relate to a friend I've had for years and its large because I matured and grew up and they did not, I back away from the situation and let them snort up all the pixie dust they want. It's obvious that the road I am taking in life is never going to intersect with theirs at any point along a future timeline.

It sounds like I am running around making friends enemies for no reason. Quite the opposite. Keeping such people close is what really breeds the contempt. Again: not healthy. Not for them. Not for me.
