And nice to see Disney thinks that pizzas that serve one are now worth an average of $18-19 a piece. Nah, that's real world pricing (maybe in 4-5 of the biggest cities in the USA).
Hey, what are you doing mentioning pizza on this thread? ;)

Does that mean you want to talk pizza? ;)

I know where to get a great deep dish pizza at a reasonable price only a few minutes away from Downtown Disney or the Animal Kingdom Lodge. :D

I have to imagine you are right and it's mostly placeholder artwork. I can't imagine cloning Hulk without the Hulk theme. Coming up with a new custom B&M layout is literally a non-sequeter to their budget. If they did clone it - well then yes - they deserve the foul cry I would toss their way.

Look, they could build an absolute identical Hulk coaster in Beijing and call it ''The Green Dragon of (fill in a Chinese city or mythological place)'' and all is kewl. It's a coaster.

I'm still kind of dissapointed Hogsmead was so copy and paste in Osaka. A real missed opportunity to at least fix some of the problems from IOA.

I haven't been there. But I have seen many pics and it looks much nicer ... with the water and all. @WDWFigment spent a day or two there on his latest Asian Escapade and I'm sure he'll eventually drop in here with opinions.

Like you said though... They aren't making the parks for me... For what Beijing shows even on their placeholder artwork they really are getting all the greatest hit. Technically even more filled out than SDL, but SDL stands out as far more unique.... From what little we know.

The Chinese want unique whether we're talking Disney or UNI or Six Flags. And they get it largely ... look at HKDL. Just attractions/addition wise they have added Grizzly Gulch (with a unique E-Ticket), Mystic Point (with a unique E-Ticket) and Iron Man experience (a unique E-Ticket) is on the way in 18 months. The only clone was Toy Story Land, which I can excuse as it took the exact place where Mickey's Toontown (a concept the company believes is done) was supposed to go, and will get TSMM construction starting VERY soon. ... I love the idea of 75 percent unique stuff and 25% cloned, which is pretty close to what you'll see at HKDL going forward. ... The big E-Ticket that likely will follow TSMM within a year is completely unique and won't show up anywhere else.

Spirited Thursday Musings:

I bash Big Business a lot, but some (very few, but some) CEOs actually do care about their consumers and will reach right out to them. In hospitality and travel sectors, I have found two things this week: USAir (which also means the 'New American') absolutely views you as cattle and themselves as the butcher (see premiere of Season 5 of The Walking Dead if you don't get the reference), while La Quinta (a budget chain that I have used maybe four times in my entire life) actually cares about their product, their guests and feedback (of any kind).

Just back from the local Starbucks where a lawyer was sitting behind us and had UNI receipts in his hands, a client at a table and was emailing ...

Is it just me or do you think this site isn't quite even? That it leans to the right a bit?

Anyone who thinks we aren't the absolute worst, most screwed up state in the Union didn't see the joke of a debate between incumbent Governor Rick Voldermort and Former Governor Charlie Flip Flopper where the biggest issue was He Who Shall Not Be Named being a princess (not a Disney one) and refusing to come out for six minutes because Former Gov Rep-Ind-Dem had a fan under his podium to stay cool. Seriously. Really. (and to the dear mods, if we're going to allow blatant political shots on this forum -- see Bloomberg thread and Texans -- then I think something innocuous like this shouldn't disappear like I just quoted Tom Amity Corless!)

Speaking of which, you are really scraping the bottom of the toilet for material when you decide to go for a 'mythical fifth gate' rumour. Seriously, it ain't happening. Not now. Not in the next decade. Very likely not ever. Sorry. You look stupid and desperate when you state otherwise.

Anyone know if Georgie K was at the groundbreaking at Flamingo Crossing today? If not, who was the highest level Disney rep on site?

No, I don't read a thing into Soup & Salad Sandra's story here: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/us-world/ about the owner of these franchises Marriott suite hotels wanting to have seven total on site. The guy simply feels that he can corner a market (one that doesn't exist, but is an easy enough sell) there because no one else (and that covers well ... a whole lot of folks) has had any interest in a project that was announced in 2007. In case you didn't notice, we're 2.5 months away from 2015 now.

Speaking of calendars, fall officially arrived in SoFla at the Spirit Cave in the early hours of today (Oct. 16th). It's so beautiful outside that it almost reminds me of California. Almost. The humidity and highs close to 90 aren't due back until Sunday.

This Ebola Hysteria is absurd, totally. I saw a headline that said schools in Cleveland and Dallas were closed today. ***?!?! Seriously, how many people have died of the flu this month in the USA? How many have died of simply not getting adequate medical care (don't tell anyone in Texas, but we aren't in the Top 10 of medical care in our wittle capitalist society here!)? ... One thing that is abundantly clear, though, and that is if a real crisis happens from ebola to terrorism to natural disaster, we are not at all prepared and chaos and anarchy will rule. Sorry, that's just reality. ... To see how totally unprepared for an ebola patient this hospital was and to see that workers who came in contact weren't prohibited from getting on a commercial airliner, speaks volumes. ... I am sure heads will roll as surely as Wall Street bankers went to jail after our economic collapse.

So, yeah, those oil companies are really panicking at the thought of gas being under $3 a gallon for most of the country come November.

Don't know if you saw, but Alain over at Disney and More had a long report on the future plans for Euro Disney/DLP and they are dead accurate (and much of what I have told you before). Not saying they are all going to happen, but there currently are more long-term plans for DLP than there are for WDW. Take that for what it is worth. BTW, when will the Twit fanbois get it through their thick skulls that this has always been the plan, that DLP has never been in danger of shutting down?

So, someone sent a note saying MM+ was ''dead in the water again'' and I see a thread about it, so I guess we crash together again. MAGICal.
I posted that Disney and More update in this thread actually. If it's that accurate it's sad to hear they'll be forcing MM+ over there. The stuff about WDS was interesting though.

Smart ! :)

At least I mentioned pizza in a true WDW News context!

When I want pizza near WDW, I simply head to SR 535 and go to Pizza Hut with one of my $500 worth of gift cards (don't ask ... they screwed up my Super Bowl Party, I had a chat with the two top people at the company and ... I'll never starve, even if the pizza is only decent) and have a CM pal go with me so we get 20% off the check and then we eat the lunch buffet (now available Saturdays too!)

No, it ain't special, but every meal doesn't have to be. My Faux Top One Percent lunch today was McDonald's. My burger was almost fresh!

Thanks. I don't recall whether I have seen it or if I just haven't hit it yet.

The MM+ isn't entirely true. They will be getting elements of NGE and MM+, but this won't be a wholesale copy of what WDW has. I am also convinced that this was part of the financial restructuring plan all along. Certain costs and such can likely be transferred over would be my guess. But I am no @ParentsOf4 when it comes to numbers.

I should see if he wants to do my taxes next year, because I bet he could get me a $1.7 million refund!

Yeah, it looks excessive.

I am sure the Parkscope Bois and UNI BRAND advocates will act like it's the greatest thing since ... any other City Walk eatery that has opened since last spring.

I hate sushi ... well, to be fair, I eat very little seafood period.

So, combining burgers and raw fish is my idea of a vomit waiting to happen.

Of course, but in terms of John's political capital he wasted it on a ride that would not work as intended.

I can't help but think a few Imagineers figured that out in the 1960s. I had fun, but with how big the lawyers made the vehicles you were never going to replicate the action seen of those two times it worked in the 1960s.

I think this was a case of no one simply telling John 'NO!' ... It happened with Eisner. It happens with Iger. It happens with most high level execs at most companies.

If someone had simply told Jay Rasulo and Nick Franklin 'NO!!!' on NGE, then billions would have been saved. Sure, wifi at WDW might suck, but I don't go to WDW to be online. Sure, I might have to use a card to enter my hotel room, but I am not so lazy that reaching into my pants has ever been an issue. Sure, I might not be able to wear a plastic tracking bracelet, but kewl kids wouldn't be caught dead with one.

The word "no" doesn't exist when your salary enters the very high six digits to seven digits range.

One Day at the Magic Kingdom: $105.44
One Day at Tokyo Disneyland and One Day at Tokyo DisneySEA: ¥11,000 / $102.73

TDR is truly the best 'deal' in the Disney UNIverse or theme park media in general.

When I was there, the yen was stronger so we paid more for everything, but a 4-day TDR pass was about $175. I can't think of a better use for $175 for any true Disney or theme park lover.

HKDL also has great deals (my AP back in 2010 cost me $82.70, which was less than the cost of a one day, one park WDW ticket). They've gone up some, but not that much. And seniors (people over 60) can get into the park for some obscenely low amount like $28 for a day or $90 for an AP.

Yes, it is the Two Day Passport. It's a good thing the Oriental Land Company is a not-for-profit charity and not a for-profit, publicly traded business like The Walt Disney Company.

I'll repeat that I think that anyone who posts ''Disney is a business ...'' should be immediately banned from this site (listening @wdwmagic?) and then we should beat them up at recess, steal their lunch money and give them a wedgie that makes mom have to take them to the pediatrician to example their balls. Really!

I was a big fan of Delfino's so I was a tad annoyed with Bice being the Newbie. For Italian its prices were over the top and I had visions of the debacles of Epcot Italy. One bite of my veal and all was forgiven. It is expensive but worth it, especially if it is a rainy night and you are staying at the Portifino, it just adds to the ambiance. It is a pretty venue but I am a sucker for the Bay at night anyway and the service was spot on which is something I cannot say about many signature restaurants on theme park property let alone the food. So a thumbs up from me.

Thanks.

Going to try it on one of my upcoming visits.

I was wondering how Flash was. I'll get around to it. Currently enjoying Season 2 of Arrow, so Flash should be a logical next step.

SHIELD...gets better every week. Blacklist continues to amaze. Walking Dead is looking good.

I like Arrow a lot too, although I don't watch it religiously so sometimes I'll miss a week or two and not get all that is happening. But I like it.

Shield just shows your Hillbilly tastes (or maybe Celebration Place has you on the check list!) Blacklist started great with Season 2, although Monday's outing was weak by its standards (so still pretty good).

And I just loved Walking Dead. I so agree, you either are The Butcher or the Cattle ... I had steak for dinner last night and a burger for lunch today ... so ... although I hear we have some veggies in our midst, right @SeaCastle ?

:)

There's nothing wrong with trying to bring back a Flying Saucer kind of ride. I actually admire that Imagineering still has a division that tries to, you know, actually engineer their way out of problems.

The problem was the story concept. Tony Baxter actually said it best on that podcast, "There's nobody in the world who has ever dreamed of riding a flying tire."

That IS SOOOOO Tony. Love it!!!

And he's right, naturally.
