The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

My opinion is 100% irrelevant. The company won't release it because of racial insensitivity issues, yet they made a ride based on the characters and some of the storyline and no one knows/cares.

I understand your point of view. But the fact that the ride is so popular "and no one cares" might indicate that Disney has over-reacted to any racial insensitivity issues. And I wish to heck they'd get over it. There will always be people carping about stuff like that to get attention and try to prove their self-styled moral superiority, and of course to diss Walt. And nuts to them. A Song of the South release on DVD would sell like hotcakes. As I'm sure you know. Just saying.

Anyway, a Guardians of the Galaxy attraction in DHS would fit fine in that park, since DHS has become a mishmash of Disney-generated and Disney-purchased properties anyway. Putting Guardians in Magic Kingdom is akin to putting Frozen in Epcot, IMO...

I think it's simply speaking to the point that not everything in a Disney park has to be sunshine and butterflies to be acceptable. Just because Guardians has some language and adult content, doesn't mean it cannot be included in a Disney theme park.

Avatar is PG-13 with violence and language, The Twilight Zone is not the most kid friendly show, and The Great Movie Ride contains adult films, including the R-rated Alien.

It's happened before and it's happening now (with Avatar), so I don't see a reason to exclude GotG because of a few adult one-liners and violence.

I think GotG would fit fine in DHS. Just perhaps not in the Magic Kingdom. DHS has become an ill-themed catch-all of Disney stuff and non-studio-generated purchases anyway. So Diz might as well toss Guardians in there with all the rest of the stuff.

I missed this earlier, but Splash Mountain was approved following the successful theatrical rerelease of Song of the South in 1986 and there were other releases in the 1970s and 1980s. Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah, the very first of the Disney Sing-Along Song compilation tapes, was also released in 1986. I doubt everybody forgot the film in only three years.

Streets of America could be turned into a kind of superhero land with Gaurdians on the border next to Star Wars, Incredibles on the Pixar side and Big Hero 6 in between (which I'm sure is in the same free to use boat as Guardians since we are getting a M&G with Hiro and Baymax). That would be the best way to put it in DHS. The Marvel name just can't be anywhere.

I am thinking (maybe hopefully) that come October 1, there will be some official announcements from the Disney Company regarding theme park additions- and I don't mean just for the Asian parks! ;)

While October 1 is roughly the start of the fiscal year (actual start is Sunday closest to October 1), there is no logical reason for that to lead announcements at or around that time. Start of spending or work...arguably, but announcements - no.

I wouldn't expect any new park announcements until D23 this year...the only thing I could possibly see them mentioning earlier is the Frozen overlay for Epcot's Maelstrom and that's only if they start construction soon after it closes...

Here's something ridiculously unrelated… But interesting in the themepark world.

Colossus at six Flags Magic Mountain is on fire.

That's right, I saw photos online of a wooden roller coaster on fire. Apparently they have announced they're going to get rid of the ride?

Small problem.

They are actually converting it into a hybrid coaster, so the fire was likely caused by the construction. Supposed to debut next year the new ride is going to be called Twisted Colossus. It is a pretty famous coaster as it was seen in several films and TV shows including National Lampoon’s Vacation. Magic Mountain stands in for Wally’s World.

If Pirates of the Caribbean is in the Magic Kingdom I think GotG would be okay for Tomorrowland.

DHS is already a thematic mess. Adding more mess to it doesn't solve the problem, but if TDO was going to put it anywhere, DHS would be the safest bet.
