I have nothing but love and respect for Lou and his family. I really, really like them, down to a personal level. His work ethic is incredible - dude, *I* don't work that much, and I have a problem. And I really think he loves Disney that much. Plus his wife is a saint. Lou won the m************ lottery there.
Same thing with Jim. Genuinely loves Disney, especially seeing how the corporate side works. Incredible work ethic. And a really nice guy.
As far as different levels of access go, I couldn't care less. Knowing the amount of work Lou does, if Disney wants to treat him special, I say God bless him.
Incidentally, the marketing department has been ordered to focus on the mommy bloggers and local fanbase because the execs see social media as the primary advertising channel. We're going to see many more ads targeted to preschoolers.Part of what you describe as the problem (I think?), I see as the beauty. I don't want people who have real 'legitimacy' (whatever that is these days) on social media. To me, that means a script and a careful narrative because they want to target their "fans" in some careful and often dubious way. I want the ones who are real. I know rough does not equal real, but it seems to me these venues are more conducive to real than most legacy ones. I like real, even if it means some content that doesn't interest me.
And this is a surprise why? Have you seen the movies this summer? The summer which is being touted as the worst at the Box Office in nearly twenty years?Guardians is the #1 movie for a 4th week, apparently only 4 films have done that in the past decade.

I truly side with no one, I just demand more from Disney. They should be held to the highest standard and they are coming nowhere near it. The companies behind the parks... That is a whole other story. They're both pretty terrible in the end but this is about the parks. This entire team this or team that mentality… He conjunction with the "either you're with us or you're against us" thought process… that's the kind of crap that just turns me off.
If your life is full of those kind of absolutes as to always having to choose a side, I think you've got issues man. Or you fell prey to too many political agendas in the early part of the century.
Critical thought examination requires new wants to examination date delves farther beyond The simple "a sore them" mentality that a large number of the fanboys put forth with the universal versus Disney. You can be a fan of both. I am a fan of both. And I equally despise both managements.
Universal is owned by Comcast, home of the worst customer service on the planet. Home of some of the largest cable bills on the planet. Home of some reprehensible people in management that I would gladly go have a cheesesteak with because… Let's face it, they are headquartered in Philadelphia. That's where cheesesteaks come from.
Disney is owned by some of the most ruthless corporate scumbags imaginable. They have no concern for the guest, they have no concerns further employees, they are concerned simply with the almighty dollar and I have an issue with that.
When you boil them both down? They're different sides of the same coin.
Where did I say it was a surprise...?And this is a surprise why? Have you seen the movies this summer? The summer which is being touted as the worst at the Box Office in nearly twenty years?
Only one movie has broken the billion dollar mark this year: Transformers 4. Pretty sad when we've been averaging 3-5 billion dollar movies the past few years.
UGH!!! Tron Legacy was many things ... a good film wouldn't be one. What a boring, incoherent mess ... sure it looked good. But I've seen plenty of beautiful people that have nothing beyond their looks.
Hell, it made the original film look great by comparison.
You talkin about Bob Knight the coach? I'm always in the market for a good read. Why do people fear negative thinking?
Planning without negative thinking results in the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
The Power of Negative Thinking is a pretty good book if one wants to read up on the subject.
While we're at it, this OS story on Disney's proclivity for upcharge events features a quote from a famous Lifestyler:

She was quoted in the NYT a month ago and now this? Is she to new go-to fan when a "journalist" needs a quote on Disney? (I'm impressed she and Tommy can make $70-80k selling old theme park crap to obsessive fans.)
Yes he is the author. One may think ill of the man based on media potrayals, but his book is very good and gives great insight into what makes Bobby Knight tick. You talkin about Bob Knight the coach? I'm always in the market for a good read.

Another thought on the differing opinions we see here is personality traits. I see here a lot of INTJ personalities which are often the most misunderstood personalities. Another good read.is from personalitypages.com. One can read up on all the different personality types.
