.... now that restaurant expansion is temporarily off the table as Disney scrambles to keep Spice Road Table from going seasonal.
So what exactly is the issue with Spice Road Table? I've not been to Epcot since its opening, so I've not eaten there. Overpriced? Bad selection? Just a general Epcot customer fear of all things Moroccan (or faux Moroccan if that's the case) food. Why is it not doing well?

I would like to try it because the food looks good, but it is way overpriced from what I've seen. I don't want to pay $16 for a small bit of food especially when I can go to the Tangierine Café and have a great lunch for a lot less.

OK, why not?

I have heard across the board rave reviews for Diagon Alley and the Hogwarts Express, but mixed stuff on Gringotts ... I'm wondering why.

And why we haven't heard from @whylightbulb for a while! :)

Alright I must start by stating I don't think it was terrible by any stretch. The ride was good but it didn't live up to The Forbidden Journey. I think the reason why the ride falls short is because it's more watching a 3D movie then it is a ride. The difference between the 3D portion and Transformers or Spider-Man is that the ride doesn't have that same full range of movement so it isn't as good in that regard. The ride was still very nice and everything was aesthetically pleasing but I couldn't help but feel it wasn't finished or it's potential was not reached. It just wouldn't be worth a long wait though no ride is worth the wait times they've been seeing from time to time (3 hrs).

The surrounding Diagon Alley was spot on and quite impressive, even the queue for Gringotts was impressive but I don't give points to the ride for a good queue, ala The Little Mermaid Ride. The Hogwarts Express however was very cool and a neat addition that wasn't necessary but a great addition to tie things together. I'd hope the Hogwarts Express would be something they could also easily update with new scenarios should they choose to do so.

I didn't check out the restaurants though so I can't give an opinion on them.

Matthew McConaughey is transformed in True Detective. It surprised me. I kept thinking of Magic Mike and some of his other pretty boy movies. Not anymore. His performance is gut wrenching in True Detective. I love Peter Dinklage but he only had one amazing episode this season, so harder to honor. I like Big Bang but it goes no deeper. Just for cheap giggles.

Even if the older shows and performers r leaving Epcot, at least they r being replaced with new shows instead of nothing...I was suprised to hear they were actually adding new stuff!

I love Tangierine myself, so yes, if the price is that high, it's no wonder they are struggling. I'm glad they don't accept ADR's or DDP, but drop the price a little and they'd probably be at capacity swiftly.

We skipped out on spice road last time to do Tangierene again, but mostly because it was faster.

I do want to try spice road at some point.
One edge it probably has over Tangierene is that the dining area has a much nicer view.

The article claims that the new system "forces" the plaintiffs to "leave the park" due to "meltdown behaviors" If this is the basis of their argument (and not artistic liscense by the author), the plaintiffs have very little to stand on.

Well then every one with a toddler that melted down and had to leave the parks should join this lawsuit, the lines at Disney are completely discriminatory against toddlers.

Were the new acts announced? I would be even more let down if the replacement acts were nothing but covers of Let it go..

If I were going to the World anytime soon, I would totally do Spice Road. Everything (except the price) appeals to me. Patio dining, water view, tapas.... Sounds great!

I agree with you, but what else do you expect from a group of people who also probably believe the MMR vaccine cause their children's autism in the first place?

This is exactly it. The buildout of the new restaurant looks great, the outdoor dining seems pleasant, and the menu seems appetizing.

But the pricing is out of line with reality, especially considering they are tapas-sized meals. No one wants to pay prices for "small bites" that in the real world would get you an actual entree. Entrees in the rest of World Showcase (and WDW) have gotten outrageous as well, but I think the DDP is keeping some of that going (for now).

It's all about price/value for the guest... I mean, customer. But Disney can't wrap their heads around that (whether it be food, resort occupancy, etc.)

It is pricey for what you get. A low value proposition. I was in EPCOT 3 days last week and saw a single table with 2 people on one day. The had a sign out front advertising "Walk ups Welcome"
When I was there in April, they actually had CMs standing outside the restaurant practically begging people to come in...it wasn't working. It looks beautiful, the menu just wasn't worth the price.

I didn't know this, which is why I was surprised - as a long time WDW visitor - on my first trip to DLR in about 20 years to hear the monorail operator say, "Welcome to the Magic Kingdom."

I kinda just sat there confused.

The monorail drivers at Disneyland have been saying that since 1961, when the Disneyland Monorail was expanded to include a stop at the Disneyland Hotel and thus serving as a secondary entrance into the park.

Disneyland, it's Cast Members, and its marketing materials, have referred to the park as a "Magic Kingdom" since the opening year of 1955-56, and they continue that into the 2010's.
