168 riders per trip and a trip every 7 minutes. Running 15 hours a day for now. The wonder of cablecars and Swiss engineering

Help me out here. The first soft opening was reported on July 1, 2014. Today is August 7th. That 38 days. That also amounts to just about 27000 riders per day. How is that even possible? How big is that freaking train anyway?

But here's something for y'all to chew on. The current DLR plans for Star Wars call for a substantial reworking of an existing area for the new stuff. And it isn't where you think it is ... and it hasn't been said by one person online yet. And, yes, it will have some people thrilled and others fuming beyond belief.

I'm going to throw this guess out here for an area that hasn't been mentioned, which I don't want to be right, but, replacement of the Matterhorn? (although I guess that you might need more space than that...)

The numbers are legit. I just don't recall anyone touting rides or press releases with 2500 HRC before.

OK, so using those numbers and if it ran constantly for those days, which it didn't because some was the soft opening and there have been many stops for tweaking, that would amount to 21,600 per day times 38 days equals 820,000. That isn't a million. That was my question. How could it possibly be 1,000,000 in that short a time? If it was even close to the number that I put there, it still would be impressive, but, I cannot see that it ran all those days for 15 straight hours with no problems and no stops, and that there was a full train in each direction every time. A little over estimating I think.

It doesn't really matter because it is obviously a good attraction, but, I don't think that over blowing the numbers was necessary.

The "Disney By The Numbers" site states that 10 million people visited Magic Kingdom in less then 10 years. That's a little more then 1 million per year, per year not 38 days. It just seems a little high and doesn't compute in my mind. Must be the Harry Potter magic.

I believe those numbers are one-way.

Well you can put faith in an unsourced random website. Or you can chose to believe Universal or not who has the means to count every single rider explicitly through their turnstiles boarding the trains. It does seem a bit goofy when you have such a high capacity attraction.. but nothing wrong with having a little fun with celebrating things that are actual progress.

Since you don't like their numbers... taking your 38 days. Assume a middle number of 13hrs a day.

1,000,000 / 38 days = 21,600 a day. 13hrs a day = 1661 /hr. If it's running 'full' at 336 riders per cycle.. that's basically 5 cycles per hour to hit their 1M. If their target is 8mins/cycle that means their total theoretical would have been 90 cycles a day = 30,240 per day.. or 1,149,120 after 38 days.

Basically they only had to be running at 85% efficiency to hit 1 million after 38 days.

If it's gone now, it's because what was inside didn't matter to the majority of the guests. Proven out by the number of people that still go to the parks on a daily basis.

How do you know that what is missing didn't matter to the majority of guests? The fact that people still flock to the parks proves absolutely nothing. We all know Disney has made major cuts in the guest experience, with rapidly increased prices for a lesser experience. Just because people still come doesn't mean what was cut wasn't important, it just means people generally still see enough value in the experience to continue paying.

You are grossly underestimating the importance of detail in a themed environment, even when such details are not directly observed by most guests. High-end or rare items were never meant to be fast selling items; Instead, the purpose was part of the theme and setting of the shop, land, or pavilion in which they were found. In Frontierland you would expect to see frontier items. The same generic "Disney Parks" stuff you see everywhere doesn't exactly set the same tone - even if it sells far better. As such, the land has indeed lost something of the total experience, and it does matter. As has been observed many times, all the little details do add up, even when you aren't consciously aware of them.

But did they get to schedule out their ice cream enjoyment time 60 days ahead? Where's their magic bracelets?

And what do you mean by this "free" word? What is that?
:eek::hilarious:

Exactly, people who continually talk crap are the best placed to identify it.
