Bob Iger just said on conference call that they will be having a "larger Star Wars presence in the parks." More details "next year."

Bob getting flustered when asked about Harry Potter is classic. "We've got the international rights to Avatar!!"
They've also got decades of their own content that are already classics. Avatar has been mostly forgotten. It just shows more and more how bad of a decision it was, regardless if the finished area could look great. So many better options.

"When we grow Star Wars' presence [in the parks], which we will do significantly..."

!!
Woo Hoo....Star Wars Meet & Greet Land... coming soon to WDW...and don't forget to get your 60 day out FP+ for the Dagobah themed bathrooms, where we've used the natural Florida swamps to imitate the Star Wars swamp planet. Go to the bathroom you must (in my worst Yoda voice).

Each to their own though.

I enjoyed The Lion King and Hunchback more personally.

Frozen was good but not the best IMHO. Didn't help waiting and waiting for THAT song to play. And when it had we both said "was that it?"

It definitely managed 100% to grab all the spin, hype and publicity to ensure a meteoric coaster ride right to the top. Certainly right place at the right time.
And a movie about an "eternal winter" being released during one of the nastiest winters of the last decade functioned as natural viral advertising.

Attendance and hotel occupancy both up 3% at the domestic parks per the conference call
Recall that Disney reported attendance was pulled down last quarter by the shift in the Easter week, which means this quarter it was propped up by Easter week.

For the fiscal year, attendance is up 2%, with strong gains reported at Disneyland in the second quarter.

Overall, WDW attendance is up about 1-2% for the first nine months of the fiscal year. With some vacationers likely delaying their trips until after SDMT and Diagon Alley opened, any attendance gain in Orlando is actually pretty good performance.

I agree with you Martin. I am a fan of Hunchback as well. And I do know some of the Frozen Fans that go crazy for the movie. When I watched it (Opening weekend/week..) I liked it but it did have many issues with pacing and character development that really show.

Also I am really tired of the whole Avatar thing. Now some of my Attraction cm friends told me all there is going to be is the simulator. I was really hoping for a family ride AND coaster along with the simulator.. :( This is why even Hogsmead is better than Pandora will ever be.

Congratulations, you just effectively dismissed Walt Disney's entire life's work. Good job.

Yes Walt took stories out of fairy tales but Walt did it with a bit more creativity than the Frozen story because you DID NOT know how it was going to end. His shorts were groundbreaking - Skeleton Dance and The Old Mill come to mind immediately.

Toy Story was far more imaginative - After all when you were a kid did you not wonder what your toys did when you were not around.

Frozen was ok as a movie but the story is that of the Snow Queen with some character changes.

The story is nothing like the movie. So different in fact, that the credit refers to the story as "inspired by" The Snow Queen. In fact the movie is one of Disney's 'unfaithful' adaptations - which is setting a record considering the liberties they constantly take.

And it's all because they got too caught up in the idea of a Snow Queen that it came at the expense of everything else. The original story is perfect material for a Disney road movie, but in pretty much every take Disney was developing post-Walt, they shifted the focus to the Snow Queen, even to the point where there was one draft where after aging up Gerda and Kai, they turned Gerda into a shallow golddigger and had Kai get together with the Snow Queen.

Exactly, The fixation with the snow queen and the addition of the villian and the snowman
