And I am proud that my last three threads (about 1.5 million views in five months) have helped keep the lights on here in MAGIC Land.

You say, top three. What would the other two be? I am assuming the DIS gets more traffic, but who else?
DIS certainly gets more traffic. Micechat would be the other, although that of course is DL focussed.

WDWMAGIC is certainly more on-subject than most, even some that may be larger.

I have a question!

The MK version of Haunted Mansion now is supposedly superior now to the DL version.

How come after I rode it recently, I felt like something was missing. I didn't appreciate it as much I do when I ride the DL version. Why?!?

My guess is that the MK is too lit up and is too colorful, while the DL version is dark and foreboding, but I don't know...

I'm at the Wilderness Lodge right now, staying in the Villas. (Chaperoning only 5 teenagers this time, not like the 10 we watched last time at the Animal Kingdom Lodge.:D) They also have construction going on here for the water feature. From what I've been told, it's been dragging on for some time. It does seem odd that TDO would OK simultaneous construction for 3 of the Magic Kingdom's 4 Deluxe Resorts during summer season.

Wilderness Lodge occupancy is 79%, surprisingly low during vacation season for what's perhaps WDW's least expensive Deluxe Resort, one that's conveniently close to the Magic Kingdom.

Check out my soon to be posted new thread. ... the above will definitely be hit on.

I have a question for you, though. What do you think of the renovated units at WLV? I had planned on stopping by there and asking to see one ('Angie' is thinking of adding points there when she wakes up from her drunken stupor from partying over Germany's World Cup win, which only happened because I am wearing my lucky EPCOT Germany cap!) ... I have heard mixed reviews. Any pics you can share with us here? Thoughts?

I genuinely was pleased yesterday when I bought a half-gallon of milk at the WL store for only $2.95, a really good price for a hotel store. I commend whoever made the decision to not price gouge on a basic food staple.

I have never bought food items at a WDW resort, so I admit I don't pay much attention. But I have seen two-liter bottles of Sprite go for over $3 and I recall my old pal @CBOMB complaining about being gouged on beer at said resort. Maybe prices have been lowered due to complaints or the fact that Disney know sells these items to CMs at Property Control/Cast Connection.

I think that is very much up for debate. When the contract was written, I'm sure no one thought the Disney Village or PI would ever feature Marvel characters. So yes, I think Disney was playing it safe.

You would NEVER know Disney owned Marvel based on WDW.

The characters, obviously, have no presence. And merchandise was largely pulled from the parks years ago because they didn't want guests asking where the Spidey and Hulk attractions were. ... I saw one Avengers pin on a rack in Toontown 4.0's Circus Tent shop last weekend. I saw a few Marvel prints (the $39 variety) mixed in with Disney and Star Wars and Pixar at Studios Gallery. But, really, you could visit WDW and never know they have any connection to Marvel and I think that is what they want.

I don't think the love of HtTYD is a Millenial thing so much as an internet thing. With the exception of Pinterest, everything on the internet skews toward nerdy males; they are disproportionately represented on any website, even Disney fan boards.

Hence, the online love of Wall-E (nerdy loner, ends up with out-of-his league dream girl), but hatred of Cars (arrogant jock wins everyone's love and respect, ends up with in-his-league dream girl)--in complete contrast to box office performance and merchandise sales in the real world.

Or the irrational hatred fanbois (and I do mean boys, especially on Twitter) of a nerdy bespectacled wizard have for a temporary DHS event featuring a blond teenage queen who is exactly the kind of girl who never would have talked to them in high school.

HtTYD was a decently received cartoon that really spoke to nerds; they can't seem to come to grips with the fact everyone else liked it fine then forgot it existed 10 minutes after leaving the theater.

That is one dead-on piece of analysis right there. You nailed it!

Sorry to displease you. I happen to have an actual life outside of forums and I got way behind in the thread...

It is OK -- in fact, I tend to respect those folks more -- to have a life beyond fan discussion boards. I enjoy coming here and chatting. I like to educate and entertain and provoke discussion. But I can shut it off, even with my own OCD tendencies.

I've never seen any of the apes movies and not sure what the fuss is about...new one doesn't interest me either

The 1960s original was a true classic and a great film ... but everything that has come since (from the 70s sequels to the Burton reboot to the Franco film of three years ago) has been largely mediocre to unwatchable. ... I think a close friend may want to go see it with me, though.

@WDW1974 If your allowed to I would love to know if anything cool was cut from Diagon Alley and Gringotts. The one problem that I had with Gringotts is that it feels very anti-climatic

I do know of things that were cut, but I can't comment further because UNI is quite serious about leaks and I don't want this being traced back.

The bottom line, though, is any/every attraction ever built has had things removed, reworked or never operated and Gringotts is no different. At least it would appear (I have NOT ridden yet) the attraction is great anyway.

I do know this attraction was designed to be more accessible than Forbidden Journey. The Mummy meets Spidey on 'roids comparison is one I hear quite a bit of.

Another disturbing element to me is the "sing a long" version of the flic. I just can't imagine being trapped in that theater. Especially not knowing going in it was a sing a long presentation.

When I was in college, they re-released Grease for its 20th anniversary. A bunch of us went opening night. Talk about not being prepared going in! Not only were the songs sung along to. Most of the crowd was talking the dialogue in perfect sync as well!

It was actually pretty cool to experience, but totally unexpected. Had no idea the impact that film had.

I haven't seen Frozen, but I work with kids and nothing has compared to the impact of this film with young girls in all the years I've been around.
