Hopefully, tomorrow I'll be able to add more substance here.

BTW, something may open at WDW tomorrow. Really.

Also, after talking to friends who have ridden the Mine Train Coaster it appears that the seats were manufactured with Shanghai's guests in mind and not the larger (mostly obese) crowd that visits WDW.
It's avatar land isn't it? They are gonna surprise us all with soft openings tomorrow. Joking aside I am guessing it's the festival of the lion king. Also if the seats were designed for shanghai then did the shanghai budget cover the cost of development for this ride and we just implemented it first? If so that is hilariously sad, even our unique crowning jewel to fantasyland was a clone of something else, meaning we couldn't really pay for developing one single unique attraction.

I would guess a soft opening of FotLK.

I'm sorry -- I just can't get behind an entitlement system such as FastPass whether it's for resort guests, a paid service, AP perk, or any other similar gimmick. Plain and simple, it treats different guests differently and is a source of resentment. It's not much fun to be in the Standby Line and watch other people cut ahead of you because they were able to obtain a FastPass. Disneyland did away with several of their FastPass offerings and the park reportedly started working more efficiently, the way it was designed to do. Everyone gets treated equally, gets to experience the grand social experiment of waiting in line together, guys like @PeterAlt get time to chat with girls.... life is good, and no one has misplaced resentment for others.

I can see how Disney could be trying to even the playing field for everyone by offering FP+ up front, perhaps even trying to manipulate the crowds so that people are more evenly distributed amongst the attractions (much like the old ride coupons did) and thus shorten some of the standby lines. Whether these are truth or myth, I don't know, but when it really comes down to it Disney is attempting to create solutions to problems that are a result of intrinsically flawed logic. FP was essentially created as marketing move to offer a perceived perk to guests, to add something of apparent value without having to build new attractions, with the hope that guests not standing in lines are guests buying things in stores. Unfortunately, we have all become so used to it that we are all running around like Sneetches, playing a senseless game that has been forced upon us because we don't want to feel left out. The main casualty of it is the building of additional, high capacity attractions to accommodate the numbers of guests.
See my trip report. It caused my sister and I to get into a major argument that wasted half a day that we could have been on rides!

The seats are fine....it's the lap bar that is very narrow for 2 adult legs to fit in between

Is your issue with the amount of time spent in the queue or the amount of space that the queue takes up? You were arguing the one thing and now you seem to have swapped to the other.
You are looking at it backwards, in my opinion. You aren't being punished for buying your tickets at the last possible second. You are being rewarded for buying them early.
Losing a queue will hurt everyone, it's pretty simple.. I was not arguing with you at all, you were losing to someone else, merely pointing out that someone else in this thread was right and you were wrong. . These aren't opinions, straight up facts buddy..

I LOVE Back to the Future. . .

I can't remember which one charges for lockers).
Love me some Back to the Future as well and never got the chance to experience it at USF. Still, if you love the movie and want to see something a little different, get on You Tube and check out the Fairfield Choraliers version of Back to the Future. It is literally the whole movie in 18 minutes. . . As for lockers, pretty sure King's Island charges for them.

Can I ask something of all of you who want to fight old battles on everything from FP to Disney vs. UNI to whatever?

Take it elsewhere. Just because I don't have time to post doesn't mean that this should turn into a post whatever the hell you wish and make the thread such a mess that anyone who wants to read news or gossip from the industry is forced to wade thru pages of ... well ... crap.

If you can't do that, I'll be more than willing to find 5-6 random threads and you can just go to them and toss stuff in. You don't have to post just for the sake of it. I'm OK with there being only a few pages of posts a day and not 23. It is annoying as hell. I thought by putting WDW news right at the top that it might stem the insanity, but it hasn't.

47 pages of posts is great when they have value.

Also, to anyone who has emailed or PM'd, I have read your notes and will respond. But getting back to reality means it may take a while, so if you don't get a response for a week or two please don't think I am ignoring you. I'm not.

Here we go:

Guys, please take the general chat and conversations that are unrelated to the topic of this thread to this new thread: News and Rumors EXTRA

Thanks
Gee Steve. By popping that up after my post it makes me feel like it is my fault. Like I was the last ice cube going into the glass that caused the contents to spill over the edge. . . My pysche is protected by such a thin veil that this may be all it takes for me to snap, to pursue some sort of secondary outlet. . . Just kidding of course. I have always tried to be the sorbet of a @WDW1974 course meal, you know, a pallet cleanser of sorts.

So, on topic. Maelstrom overlay. Not impacted by the idea just suspicious that this will not measure up to the obvious spectacle the movie's success has created.

I'm sorry but when someone says something asinine, I'm gonna call them out on it. These threads are unmoderated. You have to expect people to debate the topics you bring up because thats the inherent nature of these message boards.

Some troll, some seek attention, and some just talk out their but unless you're willing to have the moderators take control again, you're stuck with extreme or the other.

Also... these threads took a giant turn into a free-for-all with the prolonged absences. Nature abhors a vacuum and this is what its turned into.

I think the issue is that WDW is a vacuum for any sort of news and people want to talk about it, since new stuff rarely happens. Why wouldn't we just strictly moderate these threads, or lock them?
