No, it counts as added capacity. So did second Dumbo Spinner count as a new addition when it was installed at MK? (In your opinion)

I mean, we can make fun of how they over hype things all we want, but they get the message out. Isn't that what marketing is about?
Well, those two things are independent of each other though. If someone is paid to market a product, they are being paid to get it in the public eye as much as possible and make it look good. They can't help it if Disney designed and built an underwhelming experience. The way Disney practices marketing hinges on overhyping and underdelivering.
If that's the "message" they're looking to get out, then they're very successful.

I don't know that there would necessarily be any more than what Universal normally has tbh (at least media invited I mean). You just hear more about this stuff with Disney because they are very active with their blog.

I'm not gonna sit here and act like that's excusable, but it was hilariously depressing. I remember we thought they were going to announce upgrades to Fantasmic! They held a press event to announce extra benches. Benches. There's marketing and typical over-hyping, and then there's inviting the press to talk about extra benches for a show. There's a member here that would know better than me, but I'm pretty sure that did not sit well with the local channels.
I'm deciding whether to watch it right now or not and comparing it to Plan 9 From Outer Space seems more like a reason to watch it then to not. A few drinks and some friends to make fun of it with you and Plan 9 becomes a lot of fun.
Imagine how I feel. The thread is now up to 47 pages, and I'm still here on Page 13 with you. These threads always make my head hurt... 13 pages already? seesh...
The fast pass lines take up additional queue space, in pirates case it's an entire side of the queue.. that is a lot of wasted loading area, hence lines longer than they need to be. Same story with haunted mansion. You just restated what I posted.
The statement is perfectly true, it just doesn't serve your position that off-site guests don't get the benefit of prereserving FP+s because anyone who fails to buy their ticket media ahead of time will not be able to prereserve their FP+s. This is just as true regarding on-site guests as off-site guests (and AP holders).
Since I apparently misunderstood your original comment, just curious what you meant when you referred to "Mummy's scale."You're right, I didn't mean "as large as".
I can't believe I'm the first to "like" this post. There should have been a dozen likes ahead of mine. That's my thing too: if you absolutely must put Frozen in Epcot, why not build a new ride as part of Norway (they can use the expansion pad between Mexico and Norway) and put in a proper and worthy ride + gift shop (Oaken's Trading Post) + M&G with all the space to accommodate the expected guests. Basically an Arendelle mini-land as part of the Norway pavilion. That way, they not only give Frozen the attention it deserves and in a way that make a big splash, but also preserved the rest of Norway as a traditional country in WS and keep Maelstrom for capacity reasons*.
Yes, it still has problems with messing up Epcot's theme and obviously this would cost more money, but the upside seems far better for me and would certainly be appreciated by ops who are going to have a mess dealing with the crowds that a Frozen ride will bring. It seems to me that retrofitting Norway to handle the crowds would be such an expense and hassle that doing it "right" and putting everything next door where it can be built without the problem of having to deal with keeping everything open in the meantime would be better.
* = once nice side effect of this plan would be that it could really help the tiering issue at Epcot. You can make the new Frozen ride and the Anna + Elsa M&G "tier 1" and shift Maelstrom and the Character Spot to "tier 2". Or you might even be able to get ride of tiers altogether.
Is your issue with the amount of time spent in the queue or the amount of space that the queue takes up? You were arguing the one thing and now you seem to have swapped to the other. The fast pass lines take up additional queue space, in pirates case it's an entire side of the queue.. that is a lot of wasted loading area, hence lines longer than they need to be. Same story with haunted mansion.
You are looking at it backwards, in my opinion. You aren't being punished for buying your tickets at the last possible second. You are being rewarded for buying them early.I didn't fail to purchase my tickets online. I bought this in the park, that should not be a punishment..
It was. She shows up again--more clearly a grown woman--in another piece of artwork. The artistic style doesn't help, tho.
Avatar land?BTW, something may open at WDW tomorrow. Really.
no offence, but you're the one giving that silly excuse of "google it yourself".Your last two posts suggest that you aren't even paying attention to the thread.
You know that upcoming Pixar film about Dia de Los Muertos that got Disney into hot water for trying to copyright a holiday? Another studio is beating them to the punch with Guillermo del Toro producing and Jorge Gutierrez, creator of Nickelodeon's El Tigre, directing. Looks gorgeous and it's great to see more CG films not conforming to the norm.
Probably 24/7 events for 1 month and a awfully embarrassing hip hop song about the attraction. Not sure why it doesn't qualify as a new attraction. But I will say that Universal did very little publicity to announce its opening.
Nice change of pace -- a small attraction that wasn't overhyped. And it's got some entertaining signs in the queue and a funny script, too. Add to that the waterfront view and the "interactive" aspects of the targets that you aim for, it's probably the best spinner in Orlando.
I shudder to think what kind of media avalanche it would've warranted if WDW had been in charge of promoting it.
Agree, but Id love to hear more rumors about DCL.Dear @WDW1974 please come save your thread. I just cant take it anymore. In other words....throw me a bone dude! Gives us something to discuss that hasn't been discussed a million times. The thread has drifted so far I can no longer remember what it was originally. A pile of dirt, FP+, park hopper....oyevey!
Can I ask something of all of you who want to fight old battles on everything from FP to Disney vs. UNI to whatever?
Take it elsewhere. Just because I don't have time to post doesn't mean that this should turn into a post whatever the hell you wish and make the thread such a mess that anyone who wants to read news or gossip from the industry is forced to wade thru pages of ... well ... crap.
If you can't do that, I'll be more than willing to find 5-6 random threads and you can just go to them and toss stuff in. You don't have to post just for the sake of it. I'm OK with there being only a few pages of posts a day and not 23. It is annoying as hell. I thought by putting WDW news right at the top that it might stem the insanity, but it hasn't.
47 pages of posts is great when they have value.
Also, to anyone who has emailed or PM'd, I have read your notes and will respond. But getting back to reality means it may take a while, so if you don't get a response for a week or two please don't think I am ignoring you. I'm not.
I think it's silly to be on the Internet and expect someone else to define a word for you. If you think it's so important to post all definitions of the word 'argument' to this thread, you do it.no offence, but you're the one giving that silly excuse of "google it yourself".
