The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

Can't be worse than 3.
Really, it should have stopped there what with the ending that tied up things pretty nicely and the overall spectacle of the film. I actually liked it, but I'd say the biggest problems were there was quite a bit of stuff that should have been set up in Dead Man's Chest like the Pirate Lords and some of the Dutchman lore wasn't all that well conveyed so you ended up having Disney putting "What the hell just happened" FAQs in the DVD slipcases.

With all this amazing Frozen crap kicking off today, thought I'd share something just tick the Hipsters off.

Enjoy!

At Disney you get amazing highly detailed environments with lush scenery and immersive stories! It's just the most magical place you can imagine...

At Universal it's all screens with no soul, no heart, no emotion. Just so boring...

I'm sorry but that ice gives me such a nostalgic feeling.

Nice to see DLP space mountain has been getting some love, haven't ridden it in a while but it is a fantastic ride, that launch is amazing.

I also noticed someone mention an upcoming refurb, can anyone shed anymore light on this?

What I can say is that a very strong rumor point to a redo of Space Mountain at DLP for 2015. What is guaranteed is that new trains from Vekoma (original ride manufacturer, also did RnRC, Everest, Grizzly Mountain at HKDL) will replace the current rockets. We should expect a custom themed version of this:

The hard foam covered shoulder bar is replaced by soft rubber straps to make it a lot more comfortable.

I am hearing too many things to venture a guess as to whatever they will change the theme of the ride.

For Big Thunder Mountain at DLP, I heard whispers of adding a car to each train to improve capacity and changing track sections.

I think most people here agree with you; it's possible to enjoy it all. Disney will always resonate with us more than Uni because of its nostalgic factor and history (plus we're obviously on a WDW-centric site). However, Uni is doing a great job right now and only pixie-dust-blind people would ignore that.

WDW is a theme park. That by definition is more than an amusement park full of rides. The rides it has are more family oriented but that does not mean they are not fun. Maybe not all the parks are for everyone but then that is what makes life great. You may like something I don't like and I may like something you don't. So what, is one person right and the other wrong? No we are both right. Also there are some who like both. The world is big enough for both Disney and Universal. As long as Disney continues to have Food & Wine and Flower & Garden and their Christmas displays I will love it more than Universal because Universal does not offer them.

As for Frozen I hope they keep some of this through September so we can enjoy it.

Indeed. Cartoon Spin was the evolution of Benny the Cab.

Baby Hermans Runaway Buggy was a more traditional dark ride.

Toontown Trolley was the simulator.

It's so amazing to me that basically nothing from Phase II of MGM ever was built (at least at MGM).

Way back after the park opened was around the time my childhood obsession with Disney parks was at it's height and I used to write/call regularly to get all the newest brochures/park maps/etc. (back when they would actually send them). One day sometime in 1990 I must have gotten someone really cool, because they sent me quite a package of stuff - stuff that they didn't normally send. The centerpiece of it was a 7-page typed document on WDC letterhead that detailed all current plans for additions to the resort (I presume now this was some sort of investor/stock holder update). I meticulously kept everything I was sent, but I believe this was in a manilla envelope that got lost on one of my college moves - which to this day bums me out to no end (though when I go through old boxes, I often get a twinge hoping it still exists in my collection.)

That said, I read it at least 100 times when I was a kid - and I remember most of it. Most notably, the expansion plans for MGM. This was a gold mine for me, back pre-Internet when the only source for info was guide books and promo materials Disney sent. I felt pretty darn cool to know all this stuff was coming (or, was supposed to be coming, LOL). (Side note: I am rather sure that anything that I have seen Jim Hill in the past write about any of these attractions came straight from this same document, not any "inside" source.)

Not only did it detail the Roger Rabbit land, it also had Muppet Studios (a long description of the Muppet Movie Ride, the plans for Gonzo's restaurant which ended up as Mama Melrose), the Dick Tracy stuff (Crimestoppers), etc.

I'm pretty sure it did not include anything about the Mel Brooks version of ToT (I seem to think that would have stood out to me), though I'm not sure if my mind is playing tricks on me or not, but I want to swear that TLM ride (the original one that was later developed for DLP) was in there as going into MGM.

Hey! That is genuine ice! And the background is the highest quality plywood scenes money can buy!

Know exactly how you feel, was the same way and sent all kinds of letters to them and got a great response back for each one with all kinds of information and extras. Sent off for the newest free videos and annual reports etc, it was def a golden age for Disney World even if a lot of those great ideas never were implemented. But it was so much fun to think about and ponder on just from info received and reading guidebooks and cast going out of their way and actually loving their job. Wow have things changed over the last ten to fifteen years!

I was there today and going back tomorrow. Even with Gringotts not open I easily spent a good amount of my day there just taking it in. It's really amazing what Universal has done. I've never been in a theme park land that surrounds and fully immerses you as much as Diagon Alley. It even puts Hogsmeade to shame which I can't believe I'm saying.

So I finally saw Diagon Alley today and I must say it's one of the most amazing places I've ever been to! You just don't want to leave it.

The HE is a solid D ticket in my opinion. There were some problems I had with it (Hermione's voice) but it's still the ultimate way to park hop.

Butterbeer ice cream is better than a Dole Whip :hungry:

Knockturn Alley was what truly made my jaw drop

Now I just need to ride Gringotts. I'll probably go this Thursday to ride it

They'd be stupid not to at least look into it. Lots are done behind the scenes that we just don't know about. So, who knows...

By the way, I'm in downtown Miami right now joy riding the peoplemover, but now it's beach time... South Beach, here I'm on my way...
Have you been to Atlantis? I am thinking there is one big thing that would make it unappealing to Disney...the giant casino right in the middle of the resort. The casino makes too much money to just close. Whoever ends up buying the resort will having gaming in some form.

I thought the mental illness levels were at an all time high with #potterwatch.

Then I saw the Frozen reactions today.

For what it is, I like the Frozen stuff. Its small in scale but something that the guests will eat up. Better that "Show your Disney Side" and 3/4ths of "Limited Time Magic" last year. Its nowhere near the best thing ever (clean drinking water and antibiotics rank 1 & 2 there). It should do exactly what they want it to do and that is to boost numbers at the studios.

Then again, I just like Zambonis and the idea of ice skating at the studios.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree. It's a little cheesy, but for its target audience it's a nice add. WDW in the past had some entertainment elements to it outside of rides and shows. I don't know if it's the company or the guests that have changed, but everyone is so focused on rushing from ride to ride commando style that the little entertainment diversions often go unnoticed. Of course WDW cut a lot of the better entertainment stuff over the last decade so that may also be why a lot of people lost interest. Either way, it looks like fun especially for fans of the film.

Yes. Twice. For work. The food is insanely overpriced. Pretty tho.
It makes Disney food prices seem reasonable. Drinks were pricey too. We found that if you left the resort and walked across the bridge back to the main island there were some dive food places that were cheap and good. A little shady, but that added to the ambiance. The casino was pretty nice. On par with a good Vegas casino. The pools and waterpark were the best part.
