The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

You have to be either 70 years old or have a major character flaw. Spending the evening at Cape May was one of the lamest things ever as a kid.

Friday night: Head down the shore when parents get home from work, pick up pizzas and cheesesteaks at A & LP. Get to stay up all hours of the night.

Saturday: Beach all day, junk it on the boards, Macks' Pizza, waffles and ice cream, Douglas Fudge, Lime Rickeys, etc. Awesome rides, the Flyer and Golden Nugget on Hunt's Pier, the coasters on Morey's and Mariner's, Dracula's Castle (the walk-through)and Dracula's Dungeon (the boatride, think POC but evil and scary).

Sunday: Beach all day, dinner at the Country House on Route 9, and an evening stroll in Cape May. BOOOOOORRRIIING!!

Loved the Golden Nugget. I actually have a piece of it...

Here is an interesting question? Where is the largest group of DVC owners from? Would you believe Staten Island. That was what I was told at the Walt Disney experience in Newark this spring.

i guess i buy it, especially if i'm forced to buy into the premise that people actually live in staten island.

sorry, staten island people. just a little long island humor :)

I think californacation pushed him over the edge..
Best show on TV that nobody has seen. I have seen every episode and have yet to see one where I didn't laugh out loud or make the statement "what the hell is wrong with these people" or "who thinks of this stuff". Usually shows that use outrageous situations for comedy flame out because they can't outdo themselves. These guys seem to figure out ways to reach all new lows each season for the main character and especially his sidekick.

Good one. I used to spent my anniversary in Cape May but now we go to WDW.

I grew up and live at the northern shore. In fact my grandmother was born in a tent in Ocean Grove. I remember how nice Asbury Park was when I was a kid in the 60's. Long Branch used to have a major pier with lots of rides. I wish Disney had actually built the Boardwalk correctly and had an amusement park. A boardwalk needs an amusement park. Even Manasquan used to have a small one.

I miss the old shore and what it used to be like. The economy in the 60's, 70's and 80's took a major toll. Then Sandy came an took so much more. Belmar still has not rebuilt the pavilions. Avon is just about back but it's not the same. Manasquan lots so many houses and the rebuilt ones are not the same. Drive the strip to Seaside still makes me cry. The shore is not the same. Disney's claim to have built the Boardwalk after the jersey shore falls substantially short. It's still my favorite resort because of its location but it's not the Jersey Shore Boardwalk and never will be unless Disney finally build a small amusement park. Too bad, I don't think they ever will.
Boardwalk is themed to the jersey shore of the early 1900s, AC specifically. It's not supposed to resemble anything you witness today.

Oh how I remember the days of the "DTD is a ghost town" meme.

Save Pleasure Island blog has amazing pictures today. The project just keeps escalating. Really amazing and an attraction all by itself.

On a side note, they say HoB will be the only true club (as they define it) in Disney Springs. I think this is possible and good news. Orlando will be the new place for partiers. See the new Orlando Magic venue concept art.
I don't know if it was just because it was a Saturday or because there is so much construction that it clogs the pathways, but it was jammed up with people.

I did see a kid wearing a sorting hat from Potterland. When I first saw it I thought "wow, that's cool". Then I realized I was drenched from the 95 degree heat without some big contraption on my head and thought "man, what a fool". Not sure what my point is except maybe that the sorting hat was cool and it was insanely hot that day.

New Jersey is one of the biggest feeder states for WDW as well. Jersey weekend in November when all the NJ schools have a 4 day weekend has become almost as crowded as Spring Break time. It kinda makes sense that a lot of owners would be from the greater Manhattan commuting area. Lots of high paying jobs and nobody is doing WDW as a day trip from up there.

Disney's attempt at capturing the boardwalk vibe of the late 20th century would have been much more interesting. I'm thinking games of chance like the spinning wheel to win cartons of every type of cigarette known to man. A tshirt store with theme's including but not limited to: your daughter's eventual sluttiness, senior week, the Dickie Doo Award, Warner Bros "If you see da police warn a brother", and Mickey and Minnie Mouse hands referencing hard core drug use and sex.

I liked it until Becca came back... she is the worst thing on tv and I really hope she isnt around next season.

This weekends episode is the series finale. I missed last week's episode since I was away. I'm sad to see it go, but it is going out on top leaving me wanting more as opposed to some shows that you are glad finally got put out of their misery.

Clever move by Disney to pull frozen out of the bag, at the last minute too (good call Photodave) just goes to show they can do it when they put their minds to it, or were they (TDO) pushed by the higher ups.

Been watching this thread go back and forth Uni this, Disney that, Uni this................

Which made me wonder if Spirit is enjoying Wimbledon? as you mentioned the French open earlier in the thread, which the awesome Rafa is dominant in (clay) but on the grass of SW19? still good but certainly beatable, can Murray retain the title?

Another quick question whilst I am here. Here in the not so sunny UK I am a chef manager for a worldwide company, Sodexo. A few weeks ago I had a memo stating that they had won a contract providing catering services for WDW cast. This arm of the business is called Sodexo magic, just wondered if anyone knows of, has used, or can elaborate more on this. What are your thoughts on the service they supply, who are they serving and where?

I know Eisners wife is/was an exec at Aramark - I'm sure it was unrelated they held that contract(up until now apparently)

Not to be insulting Sodexo, but thank goodness I'm out of school and college which had Sodexo do the food.. Having to eat that food *shudders* feel sorry for WDW cast members. ( No offense roodlesnouter)

None taken, I am sorry to hear of your bad experience. Hopefully I provide a better service in my role here in the UK, sad to hear negative comments though.

Interesting. Funnily enough Sodexo took over from Aramark where I work too.

Hmm, on the subject of NBC and their ability to utilize their resources to promote their parks....

-------------------------------

First Jimmy Fallon, then "Today" and now Meredith Vieira.

NBC just can't help loving the Wizarding World of Harry Potter -- Diagon Alley.

Vieira hosts a special, "Harry Potter: The Making of Diagon Alley," at 8 p.m. Monday on NBC (WESH-Channel 2 locally). The NBC News program will be another promotional push for the attraction, which opens July 8 at Universal Orlando Resort. The resort and NBC are part of NBCUniversal.

I totally agree. I've watched Cali from the beginning and was never disappointed.

Well, I take that back. I'm disappointed that Duchovney didn't pick up at least one Emmy for it.
Same for the incredible Tim Minchin. His Atticus Fetch from last season will go down as one of my favorite TV characters of all time. (And turned me into a huge Minchin fan.)
