Oh do I agree with you sooo much.... Avatar was boring, and this is coming from a Comic Nerd (heck I work in comics) and Sci-fi geek... It's sad to say the only person who got excited in my circle of friends and family, was my mom. She loved that freakin movie... She's 63. Target demo?

Also what is the deal with Potter not being in the top 20 IPS? How deep does that list go? I'd love to see where Potter and Avatar land on the list. Potter toys never seemed to sell in the stores, the shelves were always full...
Please don't get me wrong... I liked the movie, wasn't great, but watchable (though I do find myself unable to sit through it anymore with out pausing it and walking away, unlike, say the Star Wars or Potter movies or any other movie for that matter)... And I do think Pandora can be a marvelous land, if WDI is allowed to do it right... With Cameron on board, I'm sure they will.. But we cannot deny there is absolutely no hype regarding the new land.. None at all... Star Wars has more hype and Disney hasn't even announced it yet LOL...

Potter is more of an older (middle school) type book...kids in our school where I teach still to this day eat them up....and secondary aged kids don't buy toys
that's my theory anyway
I read every book, and enjoyed the hell out of it. But I never bought Potter NERDNACKS... Star Wars, Comics - I have tons of NERDNACKS...

I was talking to my friend yesterday (who isn't a crazy forum fan like us but still theme park fan) and I brought up Avatar project and he had no idea what it is. Yet he knew about SW. Hm:cool:

And nothing about star wars is offical, anything people like him know is probably just rumor or wishful thinking. We all know it's happening even though no one really has shared factual information yet.

Cats? Seeing blue alien sexkitties again, JT?

And how do you know Potter is awesome? The same way you know what's going on at WDW? By never visiting.

Seriously, one day when I am not simply a Faux Top One Percenter I'll spend some money to find out exactly who you are and why you've wasted so much time on this site ...

My only agenda is a great Florida tourism industry. And I always win.

Please do not stalk me though. OK? :geek:

Thanks for the update. Hope the humidity isn't killing you (I would never head to Asia in the summer!)

Will do. Was up quite early and took a stroll around the resort to check out the hotels in those pics (and had to acclimatize quite quickly/sweated profusely). It poured rain in the morning, which was a nice reprieve temperature wise. I'm going to visit a second time later this week for the evening once I'm able to stay awake longer than 6PM, but I'll be back with some thoughts, I have quite a few.

I have other touristy things to do in HK (shocker I know, there is another world outside Disney).

I'm probably the weirdest person on these boards, who doesn't have a "local resort", instead visiting each resort with similar consistency based on travel plans. I've decided to claim HKDL as "my" home resort... even if I live approximately 8500 miles away. :D

It is unfair but that's my point. People keep screaming Star Wars Land but we don't know what it entails or what is going to entail. What happens if its a major disappointment. We should root for them to get Avatarland right first and to focus on getting that perfect instead of value engineered. Then move onto Star Wars with an 100% focus to A. Not make the mistakes they will make with Pandora and B. To capitalize on the successes they do make with Pandora.

More importantly if they can't even keep the stuff they have now in show condition (Yeti AA, SDMT cottage scene, SDMT ride, some dinos on Dinosaur for example) and these are the latest and greatest, the moment they mess up with Star Wars and its not working right, there will be a lot more vocal complaints especially 1 to 2 months in and it keeps happening. Fix that stuff before Star Wars unless they do decide to do something totally radical with a 100% unique and new ride experience then people will be more forgiving.

They are certainly capable of doing both at the same time. They would just have to want to.

Based on what they have done the past five years, i'm gonna say probably not that capable. They can do it but doesn't mean but they won't put there all and everything in it especially if Disney cut some of the Imagineers projects or aspirations for a project.

They absolutely can do more than one big project at a time... WANT? NEED? DEMAND?

Smart bet for them would be Avatar and then Star Wars back to back summers... No? But will they commit without cutting corners? Will Diagon Alley teach them that they cannot cut corners anymore? I hope so. That's why I root for UNI so hard.

Enjoy HK! I spent 2 weeks there as a tourist before Disney arrived (back when the Crown was still in charge) never got bored. If you haven't already planned it (and they are still there) ride the heck out of the trolleys and double deckers. I wentr all the way around the island one day on the upper deck of one or the other depending on what was availible. AWESOME DAY!

Same here. In addition to rooting for Universal so that it could potentially push Disney to do better in Florida it's also nice to have another great resort in the area to visit.

Dang it! You know what I really want? A 3D-Circlevision Omnimover that goes backward and has a working Yeti!
Really, I just want something that has the same feel of effort and detail that is Carsland in DCF. Star Wars, Avatar, Guardians of the Galaxy, whatever. Oh, and also crank the air conditioning back up a little bit.
@WDW1974 Is Disney's "green" initiative still in effect in relation to the air condition.

And I also realized that what do I even say to someone called 'Todd Dupler'

A quick google search brings up Mr. Todd's credentials, not that they apply to theme parks.

I will say this, though, at least he isn't hiding behind a screen name like many do. And no, that's not a shot at @WDW1974, he certainly needs to keep somewhat of a cover to keep breaking news.

May not be hiding behind a screen name, but he is hiding in the safe confines of Twitter... Let Todd come here and confront 74 where 74 can respond.. I'd pay premium membership for that one!
