The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

I also suspect that having a fire breathing dragon just a few feet away from a crowd of adults and children in a parade requires a lot more conservative approach then one that is way over head and can't do any accidental damage. Let's compare apples to apples.
And I will bet that the dragon;s fire is going to be regulated by the wind conditions as well... Otherwise they may burn down Gringotts...

To judge the effectiveness of two organizations, it’s necessary to look at what kind of return they provide.

In 2013, Disney’s Parks & Resorts (P&R) segment generated operating income of $2.2B on revenue of $14B, a 15.8% gross margin.

In 2013, Universal’s Theme Parks segment generated operating income of $700M on revenue of $2.2B, a 31.5% gross margin.

In 2013, Disney invested $2.2B in P&R capital improvements or 15% of revenue.

In 2013, Universal invested $580M in Theme Parks capital improvements or 26% of revenue.

One organization is investing wisely and providing an impressive rate of return.

The other organization is investing poorly and is providing a rate of return that’s comparable to their post-9/11 levels.

Bigger is not better.

Long-term, companies don’t make money by raising prices, cutting quality, and deferring new product introduction.

One organization is being run intelligently.

The other one is being run considerably less so.

Clerks 2 was better than it had any right to be. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong about Clerks 3.
His teases about 3 seem to be like a great end to their story. The guy is a great story teller and I definitely think any negative stories he has about other celebs are probably earned. He gushes about people when they are even remotely nice to him, I can't imagine how awful Bruce Willis was to him. He refuses to get into details but it sounded really bad and that was later backed up by Sylvester Stallone who openly called Willis greedy and lazy.

Oh, Bruce Willis is a terrible person. That's been well-known since his Moonlighting days. I'm sure he was a nightmare to work with. I bet Willis walked on that set and realized that he could chew Smith up and spit him out. I have no doubt he walked all over him.

But Smith talks smack about a lot of people who are less deserving. One that springs to mind is Linda Fiorentino. I know she has a reputation for being difficult. But try as I might, I couldn't find anyone else who went on record to say a negative thing about her. Smith absolutely trashed her which I have to think contributed greatly to her bad reputation and probably ended her career prematurely. And frankly, even in Smith's story, it sounds like Fiorentino had a point.

Anyway, I guess we should take Smith talk to PMs for anyone who is interested. Don't want to anger the Spirit.

No I'm talking about your statement that something above the crowd is simple. So simple that Disney doesn't do those effects anymore...

If you can't look at this shot...

Or see that dragon effect and not get excited you need to get your head out of mickey's butt
Last night I watched Monday's Tonight Show episode on the website (hooray for crappy Time Warner DVR that never works!) and when Jimmy and Higgins turned onto Diagon Alley...my jaw dropped. It looks AMAZING.

It looks like it will be a cramped, overcrowded nightmare. It looks pretty, but really isn't designed well for crowd flow as a theme park land. One attraction and a bunch of poorly designed stores. Diagon Alley will be one great big mess for quite some time.

Yes, just like cramped overcrowded nightmare that is Carsland. Funny, when you build something great lots of people visit.

We (meaning the whole industry, WDI included) have been talking amongst ourselves for the past 7 or 8 months getting excited over how good this project really is. The past week has been all of us industry-ites basically fan-boi'ing like you wouldn't believe. ;) Those who have been inside and have toured are in love with the detail, and those who haven't are drooling to get in just as much as everyone else, if not more. :) If you like detail, this will blow your mind. And that's before you get into Gringott's or get on the train. It's really that good. It's DisneySea/the first time you rode Indy good.

So, yes, the people at WDI look at Diagon and go "that's totally awesome!!!". ;)

I'm wondering if the nicpicks are coming up tho. Visually and set wise the place seems amazing. But there are things that seem to jump out as obvious details you are kind of shocked they let through.. considering the detail level of everything else. Things like the awful Herminie voice in HE... the sloppy grouting/install detail of the wand medallions in places.. Its weird to have such over the top kind of things, yet lack some others.

Kings Cross looks amazing, but like the staircase in Hogwarts fails in the scale category. I'm not sure about enclosing the station at Hogsmeade.. but there are obvious reasons behind why.

Beating that drum just further solidifies your claim to the biggest Mickey brown noser.

Those 'poorly designed' stores show a commitment to the story telling that Disney forgot 25 years ago.

Can you give me the name of your pixie dust dealer? From reading your posts I can tell he has the good stuff.

I watched the Hogwarts Express POV video that everyone's favorite princess-stalker posted online yesterday and man, it looks amazing. I got goosebumps after I saw King's Cross. I haven't been to a UNI park since I was about 9 but now I have a reason to go back. Looking forward to when WDW tries to wow us like this again.
