I know what you mean. I don't like all the rumors. I wish Disney would tell us what they were doing and when it will be built. I also hate when they let something slip out and then cancel or delay it.

I think Disney Springs is worth the wait. I know they are now going ahead with Flamingo Crossing. When they do delay something like Flamingo Crossing they should explain why and that they will go ahead when the economy get better. Flamingo Crossing is important to future growth and expansion and the public knows that.

Just tell us when and what to expect. 2021 and the 50th is only 7 years away. We want to know what to expect and when it will be done. There are 3 parks everyone says needs improvement. One part has been announced but we want and deserve to know. Just tell us. We know something is coming. Thanks.

Just a question, but you were trying a standup routine here, right?

I have been reading this site for over a decade now - as it is the best place to come and read about all kind of fun rumours. I would say there are all kind of dynamics going on, there is not a specific pattern how rumours come to life. The most reliable ones seem to come from one of the "known insiders" here on the board and then when one posts about it, often another one can verify it as well. With the Fantasyland expansion there was suddenly a post on here with the blueprint of the whole expansion (the infamous meet& greet version) that @wdwmagic pulled very quickly (if I remember correctly), but by then it had been copied by others so kept floating around the internet. Then there are also always crazy new people coming in, claiming that they have inside knowledge and come up with some stories. After some time those stories are exposed as hot air. However, over the last few years it seems there is a new class of rumour: the wishful thinking one. It seems that the Disney fans are so dried out with exciting theme park news that the smallest spark can ignite huge fires. People are so quick to jump to conclusions.

And I understand why this happens, the exciting Disney news draught has been going for a long time! The next big thing to come to WDW is Avatar - I still remember how it was announced just briefly before my trip to WDW in October 2011. And then while I was in Orlando and reading around on wdwmagic (yes, I know, why do I do that on vacation - but it's Disney's fault for giving me free wifi and it makes good bedtime reading) I found these posts by @WDW1974:

2 years and 8 month later there is land being cleared at AK for Avatar and Diagonalley is about to open in the area that used to be Amity. Oh, and the Transformers ride that @WDW1974 said would not come because so many other things were coming to Universal? It seems to have been open for quite some time already...

As a Disney fan that makes me horribly envious - I want that for WDW as well! And it feels like there used to be fare more exciting rumours that were based in reality were around in the past for WDW. That's why I say that WDW fans are experiencing a serious draught in big theme park news!

Thanks for showing all those posts where I broke the story that Potter was coming to UNI and that it would be connected (boy did I hear howls of protest from both UNI and Disney fanbois on that one) by the Hogwarts Express. Funny how people forget. I actually had it on LP.com (a site the really no longer exists) before I placed it here.

Of course, I was wrong about Transformers (did you have to put that out too? :) ) ... although I was NOT wrong when I posted that.

In other words, I am right almost all the time!:devilish::D:cool:

And it just drives so many people crazy. Wish I could figure that part out ...

I agree with the entertainment aspect. I think that John Carter and The Lone Ranger will find their audience. Both films were unfairly raked over the coals by critics who didn't even wait for their release dates. Fantasia was a flop, only to be rediscovered years later.....
True, but Carter and Ranger are definitely NOT on the level of Fantasia!

I've met them both. They're not the same person, yet both very passionate about their work.

Yep. And I think we are the founding members of the PhotoDave Fan Club and Pintrading Clan.

I do wonder what a truly uncensored, off-the-record night of drinking might bring forth ...

In all seriousness, Gary Buchanan is the only member of that CP group that I feel is worth a damn. Won't ever stop me from taking shots at him here, though.

On the subject, I know he's into dragons, do you think he's psyched about checking out the new one up the street?

Moving on ...
Jimmy Fallon is excited because Jimmy Buffet is on his show tonight? I've been to BBQs where Jimmy Buffet has performed.

well said
when I first joined here I was shocked to see so many that are only fans of Disney/universal

Yep. Fans of quality themed entertainment are not the same as BRAND advocates. And what I have found is many folks are simply in love with a BRAND (originally it was far more on the Disney side but as UNI's product has improved it has got the crazy fans too!)

BTW, a friend rode the Ratatouille ride at DSP (the only Disney park to get anything substantial in 2014) and the review was quite good.

I believe that was discussed two spirited threads in the past and roughly 1200 pages or so ago if not plenty more and seen by more than 600,000 "visits" whether our eyes repeatedly checking thread or others. Hey, maybe the others do actually read your threads!

Nobody reads my threads. Just ask the people who love me or, better yet, the people who can't stand me (ignorant rubes!)

I may have a chimp sitting at the keyboard hitting refresh all day ... but even that doesn't produce numbers like my threads draw. Again, that's supposedly important in social media ...
