If there's one thing old people hate, it's public spending and they love voting against it. Florida has lots of old people.

Perhaps they've had too much experience being told if we just spend more money on problem X (insert any number of problems), the problem will be solved - and then the problem only gets worse? So more money is spent. And nothing changes - or it gets worse.

Most of the older generation here are former residents of tax and spend states. Many moved here for weather, cost of living and no income tax. The fancy train would not take them where they want to go. The proposed route is for tourists. So unless Disney and the other tourists dependent enterprises want to fund the train it will not happen.

The locals want a better bus system. Not a train for the tourists.

You naysayers are incorrect to say that American Maglev has nothing to show for twenty years of existence.

They built an operating system on the campus of Old Dominion University in Virginia with the help of a $7 million loan from the state.

It no longer operates due to technical problems although the infrastructure is still in place.

The loan has never been repaid.

No news is good news. Unless you mean WDW news. And even then, sometimes the news isn't good, so we would be happier with no news. ;)
agree, we could have bad news like those in afghanistan or even natural disasters.. brrr.
touch wood that nothing bad happens this month. We already seen enough.

Disneyland Cuba anyone!?
That would be big! I think a lot depends upon the gambling interests. Of course it could be the first step for Disney into big time casinos. I think we all know that if casino gambling ever goes statewide in Florida that the cruise ships will follow.

Cuba's economy is a disaster and they need some stimulus.

Well there's a lot of corruption with all of these state development agencies, especially the Orlando Expressway Authority.

Lots of pockets being lined, lots of people getting rich while nothing really happening.

Yep the way it happens in New England where we also hate 'public spending' because projects come in at 10-20x over budget. And deliver 20% of promised benefit insiders collect the graft and a few go to jail but somehow are never stripped of their ill gotten gains.

So we the public always lose big.

Clearly north Korea is not a real threat. The information that these hackers have, however, has to be crippling.

It sounds like Sony's hand may have been forced by all the theater chains that have already dumped the movie.
Whether or not Sony themselves anticipates North Korean terrorists attacking theaters isn't really important if no one's going to be showing the movie anyway.
