The problem with WDW was they were in such a rush to capitalize on it and I think they knew Epcot has been going downhill. They thought this would help, but it's only going to make things worse. They should've taken their time and used Frozen as one of the phases for the DHS redo.
They made one of the biggest mistakes giving one of the largest animated films such a small and unambitious attraction. The numbers they could have pulled should we have gotten even a half of this

We are looking forward to seeing the walls up around DL. Knowing this was coming we booked a couple of nights in a one bedroom villa @ Grand California using our DVC points in early Feb. While enjoying what's open, we are more interested in what's not. We're going slo mo on this trip, walking the parks, cooking, and eating in room to save cash. Cocktails every night at Trader Sam's after the parks close of course. That's the best attraction, people watching there. We always come back with stories, and Disney gossip.

Now that would be the ultimate middle finger from DL to WDW and would glorify how differently the two are run. Especially if it's on the level of what Tokyo is getting.
I have no idea if the land is big enough for a full clone but I wouldn't be surprised if DL got the main Frozen E Ticket from DisneySea at the very least. All speculation of my own of course.

Is Frozen in Epcot considered a mistake by WDI or management? It seems way too soon for that, justified or not.

"Success" will ultimately be looked at by attendance increase, guests spending, If it helped take pressure off MK, etc.

But ultimately, this will be an Ops disaster, which is something that needs to be taken into consideration more with future projects.

Shouldn't Disney be releasing this information?

Shanghai Disneyland announces entertainment program
English.news.cn 2016-01-07 01:05:04

SHANGHAI, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai Disneyland will feature favorite Disney characters from Snow White to Luke Skywalker, under an entertainment program announced for the upcoming park on Wednesday.

The stories of classic Disney princesses will be staged in the site's signature Enchanted Storybook Castle, said Matt Almas, the company's creative executive.

Visitors will learn to draw Marvel characters and interact with the heroes and villains of the Star Wars universe in sci-fi zone Tomorrowland.

Chinese elements will also be incorporated, Almas said.

The final carriage of Mickey's Storybook Express, a train running through the park, will be dedicated to Mulan, an animated movie depicting a female war hero of ancient China. Each carriage will be based on a different Disney film.

The Lion King musical will be performed in Chinese at the park's theater. Visitors will also join Donald Duck and Chip'n'Dale to practice traditional Chinese martial art Tai Chi.

Construction of Shanghai Disneyland, the sixth of its kind worldwide, started in 2011. It is due to open in spring of 2016.

Time waiting in line (particularly in the World Showcase) is time that Disney would rather people spend ordering food and drinks. Surely they've considered this (and the expansion of Soarin and TSMM are evidence that Disney is cognizant of queue times). If ride capacity is not improving, then I expect a food & wine booth in the queue to make up the revenue.

I'd consider it a success if it causes such a headache that it leads to more investment in Epcot down the road ;) Sometimes you gotta play the long game.

Do you really think Burbank cares what happens to Park Operations in FL unless it negatively impacts financial performance?

Just a general question in terms of how things work at Disney.

With the redo of Hollywood studios, where do the suggestions come from to actually start doing this to a park? Does upper management say, "Hey, the offerings and overall look and feel of Hollywood Studios is really starting to become apparent. Go dig up some plans to reinvent it with some new rides or a new land."

Or is it more suggestions coming from people under them and then the Upper management decides wether or not to green light something like this and give it a budget?

Mostly wondering if anyone is speaking up about the state of Epcot or trying to at least bring it up every now again instead of waiting for Iger to actually say something needs to be done.

Great to have you back Spirit!!! :D

The news about Bob Weis sounds great. We can only hope that "faster and cheaper" means a Universal Creative type model. Boggles my mind how Diagon Alley was cheaper than New Fantasyland. Got to admit it sucks we won't get Star Wars possibly till 2020 while Disneyland gets it two full years earlier. I tell ya, that park will be absolutely SWAMPED. Having it open at DHS at a similar time could've relieved it a bit with people choosing one or the other depending on which one is closer to "see it first." Let's hope this "faster and cheaper" kicks in for us in the east. If Roger Rabbit is staying (YAY!!!) but the rest of Toontown is going, I just have one guess: Frozen in some capacity. In a place it actually belongs, go figure

And people mocked my saying in 2015 that SWL was 5 years away...

Why do people think Epcot should become another Magic Kingdom? Sure, WS is treated like a mile long bar and the other side of the park that was once an exhibit for the "future" is now all about... PAINT ??? but for some reason people continue to think that the solution is more dark rides? While Epcot is definitely suffering from an identity crisis, I can only hope any plans by the new 'faster and cheaper' WDI will allow it keep some form of distinction.

and oh ya, welcome back, @WDW1974 ! How is Angie?

Nope in 'Todays Disney' pointing out shortcomings is what's considered a 'Career Limiting Move' see Tony Baxter (and other FORMER Imagineers) for exemplars.

Not so much...

Whatever you are smoking please pass some around it sounds like really good stuff.

With Darth Iger in charge 2022 or so is the earlyliest id expect SWL

It will be so nice if Avatar remains #1 just to see what that would do to Disney's so called Star Wars 'Strategy',

If I had been in Iger's shoes as soon as I had secured Star Wars I would have started groundwork on the SWL in DHS with it's 'phase 1' being elements of the classic Star Wars being built out at lightspeed even stopping Avatar until SWL opens.

Instead we have this half-baked strategy which by official estimates gets us a SWL somewhere around 2022-2023. Five or so years AFTER the last picture. But the ego driven Iger wants the SWL to represent HIS Star Wars vision. yeah the new SWL needs to have those elements as well but Iger's forgetting the first rule of pop culture i.e. strike while the iron is HOT.

Look at what UNI did with the HP franchise, They got it up and running while the movies were still in the theaters, The fan base was not happy so UNI significantly plussed the second and third phases. And they built themselves a factory which prints money, When I was there it was amazing to see the number of people especially Chinese girls channeling Cho Chang buying complete sets of robes and all the accessories which go with them (figure at least $300/pp)

Plus lots of unique high end items for the hard core fans most notably at Borgin and Burkes.
