Good start, but doesn't include the parades and stage shows and major entertainment that has been cut since the decade debuted.
Oh, I'm sorry, usually people make me leave those out as they're "not attractions".
  1. Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun
  2. Block Party Bash
  3. SpectroMagic
  4. Off Kilter
  5. Those Stupid Lumberjacks
  6. Celebrate a Dream Come True
  7. Jammin' Jungle Parade
  8. Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure
  9. Dragon Legend Acrobats

  12. The God-Awful High School Musical Show
  13. Fife and Drum Corps

  16. The World Showcase Players
I also forgot a couple "real" attractions
  1. Snow White's Scary Adventures
  2. The Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management (Actually deserved to catch on fire)
If I missed any entertainment blame the extremely turbulent history of the department and how impossible it is to keep track of.

I guess it just bothers me. More so as part of the whole fallacy about WDW being about quality and the like ... and Disney could end it very simply by letting the people run (if they somehow qualify) but NOT giving them a medal unless they complete the entire race!

I can see where it is important to people who actually train to complete a marathon vs. those who paid just to get a medal, but from what I have seen, it's more of the former and less of the latter on the half and full marathons. The 5K medal is not anything to write home about, so if people are really spending the money just to get a hunk of plated scrap metal around their neck to "show off" around the park for a couple of days, I'm not sure how Disney's in the wrong for saying: "whatever, boo-boo" and giving them the medal. It does frustrate me, however, that those kind of people take the spot away from someone who seriously wants to run (aka me).

In the end, it's frustrating to see how many people are not taking the races seriously, but let's be honest: until we're getting into the half and full, we're not being serious anyways. I just wish they would stop letting kids into the 5K. They have kid runs for a reason.

@WDW1974 Do you think the implementing of this resort fee has a correlation with the slower growth of DVC. They hae been feeding off that teet's revenue stream for decades. With less than 1000 new villas in the last 7 years opposed to the nearly 10000 in the previous 7, I think there is a major deficiency that needs to be filled.

Well, nothing has been implemented ... yet. I am not sure what has been behind the slower pace. It doesn't seem slower. In 2009, there was no DVC presence on the monorail. Now, all three resorts have significant timeshare components. And many are conversions (even bulldozing Contemporary North, where I stayed on property for the very first time!, for the BLT was a conversion). Now, you have a resort (WL) that has had a great DVC resort since 2000 that is being decimated to add yet more. There also was that pesky little accounting issue on Aulani.

Disney has all sorts of DVCs on the table ... from the RC/Pioneer Hall site (pray that it never happens) to the Buena Vista Drive to multiple ideas for EPCOT to CBR etc. Ultimately, Disney decided the cheapest and easiest way to go DVC was to convert Deluxe Resort rooms because they have shot past the highest price points that they can fill and they intend to keep raising the rates. I don't know what their next resort is for WDW post second WL DVC, but I think that's because they were not happy when I broke the news here that they were destroying the resort for more timeshare.

That's 29 right off the bat, and I'm sure there's more.

As I mentioned in an earlier thread, daughter, son in law, and two kids went to the World. They enjoyed themselves but found the parks looked tired aside from DAK. He had never been to the World before and came home saying he'd rather of gone to Disneyland for a couple of days. Better attractions, better atmosphere, and way better food. The result of cut after cut after cut in quality and offerings.

Spirited Musings:

So, I haven't checked in here in three weeks. Yep, my enthusiasm for Disney and news are at a low right now.

Guess we can start with a positive. Saw Zootopia. Loved it. Easily the best WDFA production in the 21st century. Yes, much better than Frozen or Princess Tangled or Wreck it Ralph. Great animation. Solid story. Good message that doesn't totally beat you over the head. Oh, and lots of theme park potential.

The thing is the film has Pixar DNA all over it. Sorry to all the fanbois who still think the Disney name means all that much. Of course it really doesn't matter. You'll likely see the two units totally merged as soon as Lasseter and Catmull are gone. It will be something like Walt DIsney/Pixar Feature Animation for a few years ... and then just Disney when management decides to cut duplicate positions and streamline (add in all those strategic planning words).
Jesus Spirit, you'll give people heart attacks if you say stuff like that! But seriously guys, this was the Weatherman's thinking when he went into talks with Steve Jobs to acquire Pixar back in 2005. If it wasn't for John and Ed, they would have merged the two divisions then and Disney Animation would have been a thing of the past. The then 65 years of continuous production of animated shorts and features under the tradition and identity, not BRAND, of Walter Elias Disney and generations of master animation artists of which there are far too many to name here would have ended there.

These are the stakes when it comes to succession. Disney management doesn't give a about the legacy of the company but they'll sell to it the public like they do. The next CEO of TWDC cannot be a strat planner like Staggs or any individual who thinks like them. Disney needs someone as its next CEO who understand the significance of the legacy of WDAS, to both the company and the art form, and the need to allow it to be its own autonomous studio to continue that legacy. We need change or Iger's default option for Walt Disney Animation, to dissolve it into "Pixar South", will be our future.

The CCP will love its Disney Resort. And it will see to it that it is a success. And that it produces huge attendance numbers. And Bob Iger will act (here) like he is in total control and the financial press will eat it up so long as cuts at WDW and huge tentpole films can make the bottom line look great.

BTW, for those who think these big media companies hate each other and such, realize that Bob Iger is on CNBC -- unchallenged no matter what he says -- so often that they should give him his own show and time slot!
Didn't Eisner get his own show? :)

It was never really in doubt as to whether Agents of SHIELD was coming back. Shows in their 3rd full season invariably get renewed in order to get to enough episodes to be syndicated.

OTOH, I'd be pretty shocked if Agent Carter gets renewed (though reports are that its still up in the air). It's ratings plummeted this year and weren't that great to begin with.

The bigger question is whether the other Marvel ABC shows in development -- Damage Control and Marvel's Most Wanted -- proceed. I haven't seen confirmation that either of those are definite for next season.
Now they are saying The Muppets won't survive after this season.

I am just loving these "Star Wars Awakens" commercials at the WDW Resort.

Did I miss something? Or is this just misinformation and deceptive advertising? Again, only the mentally ill or those who have no value for money would book $10,000 WDW vacations to meet and greet 23-year-old Bowling Green grad Kenny (also waits tables at the TGI Friday's in the Crossroads) playing Kylo Ren ... or walk through the laughable 'attraction' known as Star Wars Launch Bay. REAL Star Wars product that is new (beyond a reworked pyro and projection show) won't arrive until 2020-21, yet Disney is actively trying to convince people otherwise. Classic.

And how is Disney getting anyone in EPCOT when the only attraction most people consider a must do is closed for six months? Oh yeah, Inside Out meet and greets and the Spring Food and Wine Festival.
The commercials are so misleading. I have people at work saying, "are you excited about going to Star Wars Land when you go to Disney in December". I'm like," Well........"

I still cannot figure out why TWDC felt it necessary to change the relationships i.e. Kermit dating a new pig etc.

You could update the show without changing the elements that made the Muppets well 'The Muppets'. Some of the YouTube stuff was absolutely brilliant like Gordon Ramsay vs The Swedish Chef, Bohemian Rhapsody, The Swedish Chef 'Popcorn Shrimp' and Pumpkin Pie.

If the show had been HALF as good as those YouTube shorts it would have been AMAZING.

Muppets and Tron are in the same boat for me. I like the idea of them being used, but 95% of the time the execution sucks

Yeah I love explaining to people that those ads are 'Bovine Excrement' and that stuff will not be online in the east till AT LEAST 2020, People get kind of turned off because they honestly think it's all there and ready to see. It makes me sick when I have to tell people it does not exist. Disney is not doing itself any favors with this ad campaign.

Nope. And I haven't watched last week's episode yet (I know who is back, though!)
I think people who are disappointed just expected Breaking Bad 2.0 and this isn't it. This is a different story. A slow burn as opposed to BB's frenetic pace. I just love it. And I even got 'Angie' hooked as well (she never watched BB).
It will be interesting her take on BB after watching BCS first. Brilliant writing on both shows. Watching BCS I'd like watching SW episode 1 - 3 first and thinking that poor little boy. 30 minutes till the next Saul episode. :)

Register on WDWMAGIC. This sidebar will go away, and you'll see fewer ads.
