Yeah, and in 1971, Magic Kingdom admission was $3.50.You're leaving out a key piece of information. A white collar job back then started at $7,000/yr.

I wasn't doing it for comparison to today, just for the shock value. What's the starting wage now? 30K, 40K..whatever it still isn't the same. $10,000. for A flight to Europe (even round trip) is a lot higher percentage increase then what wages have jumped. Yes, I know, First Class etc., but seeing as how tourist section gets to the airport at exactly the same time as First Class, it still seems a little out of proportion, don't you think? Also remember that even though this was a group rate (there were 30 of us) when you factor in everything other then airfare, it isn't even close to reasonable. You're leaving out a key piece of information. A white collar job back then started at $7,000/yr.
Then I joined the military and got FREE transportation from Vermont to Bien Hoa, S. Vietnam, Tokyo, back to Vermont and all it cost me was one year out of my life. Try getting that deal on Expedia.
Adjusted for inflation you paid $3,705.97.Way back in the dark ages (1967) I went on a tour via college of Europe. 14 days, with stops in Portugal, Spain, Italy, France and England. Included airfare, hotel, two meals per day, guided tours including admission. In Italy we went to both Venice and Rome. Total cost...$530.00. Transportation included bus from Vermont to Montreal, DC8 to Lisbon, smaller jet to Madrid, another jet to Venice, a DC3 to Rome, jet to Paris, jet to London, DC8 to New York, Jet prop to Montreal and bus back to Vermont. Every tour included shiny new Buses, Water Taxi's in Venice and so on. Simply amazing.

Don't forget 50 cents for parking!Yeah, and in 1971, Magic Kingdom admission was $3.50.
You know I'm not looking for a one day turn around, but, I am tired of the I got some information but I can't tell you what it is yet, type of reporting. If you can't tell us don't say anything. It is stuff like that that gets everyones girdle in a bind as they try and guess what it might be. At that point it isn't news, it is what makes these threads go straight to hell. People make guesses and since there are so many of them, it is fairly likely that they are mostly incorrect. Someone else doesn't read the whole thing (shocking I know, but, are you sitting, not everyone anxiously awaits your next post), so they don't see where it originated and BAM, you have a full fledged rumor that has no chance of being true that leads to all sorts of useless discussion.
Yes, you have a reputation of having some pretty good inside information, no argument, but, lately it hasn't really been forth coming and, I'm sorry to say, some of it has already been discussed in other places. So, not new. Your musings, although amusing, don't help either. I listed the number of topics, some relevant, some not that you posted on just one session. How many directions do you think those are going to go in?
Truly it is not the fact that you tend to throw out a lot of different topics that bothers me, it's that you "warn" people not to go off topic, when you, many times, are the cause of that happening. Let a thread run it's direction or provide solid information to discuss, but don't play lord and leader and attempt to intimidate everyone to follow YOUR rules even when you aren't participating. It may impress some, but, not everyone!
I can also point out when I see a problem or an ego out of control. Free country. It's not like I'm punching him in the nose. He's a big boy and capable of defending himself. If you don't like the way 74 puts out info, you don't have to read what he writes. Just saying...

Remember, the 3.50 got you in the park, that's all. You could watch parades and fireworks, do nothing more. So, add in the inflation for a book of tickets. Not sure how many E's, D, C'd etc...were in each book or how much a book cost.Adjusted for inflation that would be $20.19 today.
That would be $2.88 today.
Good point. For example $6 on tickets in 1972 would have gotten you an A, a B, two Cs, 2 Ds and 4 Es. $6 then would be $33 today.Remember, the 3.50 got you in the park, that's all. Sigh, I miss Eastern Airlines....screw Delta.Of course, there were also a few complimentary attractions back then (If You had Wings). .
reminds me of people who really claim "if you dont like, dont watch".This is the pathology that enables dictators.
His agenda could be free drink refills for all as long as you are dressed appropriately. This is the pathology that enables dictators.
When the people have been here as long as they have, they know. I do sometimes feel bad for some of the new people who get killed around here. We assume they are all people with an agenda, but we were all new at some point.reminds me of people who really claim "if you dont like, dont watch".
how the hell would I know If I will like it or not without having to watch it first?

Actually WDW might need a dictator to come in and clean stuff up. We could do a lot worse than 74, but I would feel sorry for the lifestylers if he took power.
