I am careful with my money and I promise to never complain that I have none, but I like the extra space on longer flights (my legs and back thank me for it) and am willing to pay for it. I don't take too many flights, so it isn't a great hardship. :)

I don't really like to take flights, anyway, so there's that, too.

I do appreciate all the tips from everyone! Thank you!!!

It sounds like you've already made up your mind, but another thing to consider is that internationally, you're likely going to be flying a 777 (or 787 depending upon your origin/destination) instead of a 737, etc. That makes all of the difference in the world. I'd rather take a 12 hour flight on a 777 or 787 than a 6 hour flight on a 737.

I always do economy, picking a good seat (http://seatguru.com), but there are other options available between economy and first class. It shouldn't be treated as an either/or proposition unless you just want a reason not to go somewhere.

All this plus some good liquor at the airport before you leave works miracles. You wake up and you are almost landing.

Rasulo also said Tuesday that the firm's upcoming Shanghai Disneyland theme park could become the company's second-largest behind Disneyworld. And he signaled that after its planned 2015 launch, the firm could invest in it further. The park is within three hours of 300 million-plus people.

More Star Wars rides are likely to come to the firm's parks over time, he added as part of a broader theme parks discussion.

Asked about the latest feedback for the MyMagic+ digital wristbands at Disney's World Disney World theme park in Florida, Rasulo said it encourages users to plan their visits more. "When people plan at home, they tend to plan for a lot more time," he said, explaining that the main benefit for Disney is the expanded time people spend at the parks. He said it was still "early days" to assess the financial impact, but said the company is planning to roll the service out across the operation.

Discussing the importance of mobile devices, Rasulo said "it provides a huge opportunity to get our content out to consumers" previously not reached, particularly in international markets. He said content companies, for example, can't wait for India to launch its 4G mobile network.

Figured this belonged here, Bob Iger tries to sing "Go Fly a Kite" at "Saving Mr. Banks" premiere. What a stiff.

That's beautiful...except for that one guy second from the left. ;)

No but it really is a touching moment except for Iger attempting to look good.

Like I said originally, I just looked it up for fun. I was just curious to see what flights to Paris or London would be if we went to Europe instead. I was never set or even seriously considering changing plans. After I looked up Paris I didn't even bother with London or shopping around. I don't like to fly much, anyway and overseas is a loooong flight for me. California is a long flight for me, lol. Hell, I'm considering driving to Las Vegas. :)

I only mentioned it because right after I did that, someone else was talking about Christmas in Europe. If I hadn't read that almost immediately after my short foray into last-minute, first-class, just for shucks and giggles pricing, I probably wouldn't have even posted.

I really didn't mean for everyone to take it so seriously, lol.

I have learned a lot about flying and how it has changed since I did long flights. That information may come in handy if I seriously consider world travel again and I do appreciate all the tips a lot!! :D

Way back in the dark ages (1967) I went on a tour via college of Europe. 14 days, with stops in Portugal, Spain, Italy, France and England. Included airfare, hotel, two meals per day, guided tours including admission. In Italy we went to both Venice and Rome. Total cost...$530.00. Transportation included bus from Vermont to Montreal, DC8 to Lisbon, smaller jet to Madrid, another jet to Venice, a DC3 to Rome, jet to Paris, jet to London, DC8 to New York, Jet prop to Montreal and bus back to Vermont. Every tour included shiny new Buses, Water Taxi's in Venice and so on. Simply amazing.

Then I joined the military and got FREE transportation from Vermont to Bien Hoa, S. Vietnam, Tokyo, back to Vermont and all it cost me was one year out of my life. Try getting that deal on Expedia.

You're leaving out a key piece of information. A white collar job back then started at $7,000/yr. :)
