Most of the MyMagic+ development and infrastructure is being done by outside contractors. Disney has not attempted to turn itself into an IT company.
And anyone who has had the frustration of dealing with any of the Disney websites knows that their focus is not on IT;). If anything they really should beef up at least their websites. I ended up buying Disney products from Amazon this year just because I couldn't take the glitchy Disney Store website. I'm pretty sure I actually paid more, but I got so frustrated I didn't care.

As was Mission:Space.

And Alien Encounter.

Tough for me to see another park invest in M:S. Would certainly fit the theme in a TL somewhere, but would any be willing to allocate the space?

It's too bad that no one else picked up ExtraTERRORstrial. Such a great experience and I wish it were still around somewhere.

I never said Disney is attempting to be an IT company. What I said was an IT project this massive should be developed entirely through an IT company that's worlds more massive than the project on its own, such as behemoths like Apple, Google, Microsoft, Intel, Facebook, Cisco, etc. Those sort of companies have their own money to invest and this sort of project would be "small" for them and would benefit them more than it would Disney. Look at what Google is spending wiring cities and homes with fiber optic cables, for example. Disney would participate in the project in a partnership role, not a developer role.

Although there are outside companies participating working under contract working to develop NextGen with Disney, Disney is still the developer and still has its own development team involved. The outside developers are working for Disney and the project as a whole is under Disney management. So, the reality of the situation compared with what I'm suggesting are two very different things.

I miss AE! It was actually originally designed for DL's original TL makeover that got canned. It was also a pet project if Eisner, but had to be redone a couple of times because Eisner was not happy with how it came out the first few tries, adding cost and delays to the project. And, after all that, Eisner fell out of love with it and ordered its kid-friendly replacement!

Sarcasm ... but anyway ... I wish all forms of Fastpass were gone.

If they built more attractions there would be no need for fast pass. Adventureland is prime for an expansion/redo. The MK is lopsided. Imagine if Adventureland built a huge E ticket and one or two D ticket attractions? The company has had a bad habit of closing attractions and replacing them with nothing of substance or nothing at all. A lot of guests do not realize that a lot of fastpass locations are "manufactured" in that they never really needed it. It allowed the company to decrease capacity and labor in some instances to make fastpass "work" (see Living With the Land).

Fastpass is bad. Those who are in love with it probably never had the true escapism of being able to go into the parks and have fun on a whim. The MK was never designed to hold as many people as it does. That is why they are adding walkways. (See Fantasyland/Tomorrowland walkway and rumored Main St. bypass.)

There is no need for fastpass now, all it was and still is even with the 'Plus' variety, a way to get more people spending money ... which simply hasn't been the case.

Agreed, but they created a monster that cannot be killed quickly. FP+, in my opinion, is the start of the slow death of FP. Hope I live long enough to see it cause I do so love to be right.
