As the teams set off to the Arctic and the Polynesian Islands, @spacemt354 takes a quick detour to the Caribbean Islands and Barbados as he got a tip on an old Sorcerer's Apprentice Map designed by Yensid. This map may hold clues to the hidden fortresses of past heroes who went into hiding after Maleficent took over the universe in Sorcerer's Apprentice: ENDGAME.

Under the guise of an Adventures by Disney tour of Barbados, @spacemt354 began his search for this map in the islands since Yensid always needed a tan.

Advertisements for this new excursion sought to bring travelers face-to-face with the islands natural wonders and scenic excursions. Guests of this 4-day island adventure will spend the first day on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, basking in the sun. The second day will be a hiking day to Harrison's Cave for a tour through the terrain. @spacemt354 thought that Yensid might have hid the map here due to his fondness for attractions such as Journey to the Center of the Earth, but no map was found.
35.jpg

That night, guests travel on a Pirates of the Caribbean 'style' cruise along the shoreline, where the moon shined down on the ocean. Scenes of this trip to the guests looked right out of the attraction, but still no map was found.
20191107_220744-jpg.452507

On the third day, guests would take a rainforest tour on the island, going through the hilly landscape to see the exotic creatures that reside within. While the excursion was incredibly fun for the guests, there was still no sign of Yensid's elusive map.
barbados-safari-tour-forest.jpg

That evening, the guests of the tour will then travel towards the Atlantic Ocean for a ocean-view dinner. With delicious food options and a scenic surrounding, it caps off a long 3 days of adventure throughout one of the Caribbean's smallest yet most diverse islands.

On the fourth day - the guests were set to head off to the airport to fly back to their destinations, yet the map wasn't found. @spacemt354 intended to stay behind to continue the search, but at the last minute had a thought. Yensid knows all, maybe he knew the Cruise Line would eventually be expanded, and since the Disney Cruise Line already traveled to Barbados, @spacemt354 made a quick trip over to the dock. Sure enough - there it was hiding in plane sight, the map to the past heroes. This information may come in handy as the game goes on, but since he missed his flight, space was intending to stay on the island. Yet as he looked out to the sea, space could see a glistening ship on the horizon to take him to meet back up with the teams.

Adventures By Disney is an afterthought by many guests throughout their day in the parks - why? You never see them in the parks; there’s mention of AP, DVC, D23, etc but guests never see any reference about Adventures By Disney excursions - until now!
One of the appeals of EPCOT is the World Showcase: a place where guests can visit 11 countries from around the world in 1 day. But there has always been the desire for more countries to join the showcase but it has never happened for a variety of reasons. A lot of the desired countries, however, are visited by an Adventures By Disney trip - there just needs to be a way to tell guests that.

The America Gardens Theatre located across from the American Adventure doesn’t get as much use during the day as it once did. Once used for music during the day, that has shifted to other places in favour of catching more people walking past; but now, it is transformed to an Adventures By Disney showcase - increasing the number of countries you can visit in the World Showcase.

Follow the Magic LIVE - At The America Gardens Theatre is a new way for guests to see the latest highlights they can experience on many of the Adventure By Disney trips around the world, including the newest one - Finland. Whether that’s “snow” falling during the snowy part of the documentary or wind effects when high in the air, it takes a simple Finland showcase and immerses guests into it all.
While Finland is the main focus of Follow the Magic (video below highlights a sneak peek at what the film seen at The America Gardens Theatre would look like), guests can also see highlights from Iceland, Egypt, Costa Rica, and more! As more new trips get added to Adventures By Disney, highlights of them can easily be added and swapped around in Follow the Magic to give each and every guest a new way to experience a country they may have always wanted to visit without knowing a way to do it.

The teams succeeded in their mission and collected the artifacts from the Arctic Circle and the Polynesian Islands before the two L.A.N.D. Agents could! Team Tomorrow left Captain Emerson (From Sea World's Wild Arctic) out in the cold, and Team Yesterday got the last laugh against comedian Mr. Eggz (from Kitchen Kabaret). The Snow Queen's Glove and the Heart of Te Fiti are safely in the hands of S.E.A.!

Team Tomorrow in the Disney Adventure and Team Yesterday in the Disney Adventure have set sail to rendezvous at the location of the next artifact: Hawaii! Our ships are currently traveling approximately 165 3/5 knots, which puts our arrival time at roughly 23:59 EST Sunday (Probably well before that).

Thanks to both teams for working through adversity - not only through the short timeline, but also with timezones, new teammates, and an unfamiliar territory in Adventures by Disney.

Team Yesterday
- Love the website not only because it looks like Adventures by Disney, not only because it does something different with Google Sites, but most importantly because it's done by someone new! Congrats to @D Hindley for trying something new and blasting it out of the water.
- Speaking of water - you all had the Polynesia section of the prompt and ran with it - really enjoy the choice and again how you made it feel authentic.
- @mickeyfan5534 did a great job as the PM. He knew how and when to delegate, but also when to hold back and understand time constraints.
- TMNT continues to power through this competition. Similar to Doug this round - for future Act 2 rounds I'd really enjoy seeing you all try to experiment with new techniques. Awesome video by @NateD1226 - that kind of stuff is exactly what I'm talking about. You'll never be criticized for trying (Yoda, I am not) - I'd rather see you have the confidence to try than be too shy.
- Nice art by @gam3rprincess as well - getting better and better!
- Everything throughout the planning was well articulated and advertised. The only thing I might recommend is some sort of geographic visual on the site for the location. Might have missed it - but just a simple google image of the globe to show where you picked rather than say it.
- An excellent start to Act 2 - keep it up!

Team Tomorrow
- You all were hit with a case of the busy, which again is totally understandable. That being said - you rebounded throughout today probably the best anyone could ask for.
- @Disneypugs. with his second attempt at being PM after being an acting PM in Stanza III, this one was a bit more challenging. For one you had no way of knowing that this short 48 hour challenge was coming, but for future challenges, for this the team leader (or whoever is most active honestly) needs to make decisive decisions to keep the flow moving. That's really what these rounds are intended to teach, working with timelines where you don't have a week to ponder a concept - you gotta go with your gut and make it the best you can.
- @AceAstro did a great job as a veteran leader going back and forth with pugs trying to keep the project moving forward while others were busy - kudos to you for your work here as well.
- Finland was a nice concept considering that you guys unfortunately had less options to deal with because Adventures by Disney was already in most of the Arctic - but you took that possible negative and turned it into a positive with this choice.
- Really enjoy the video as well as the innovative concept of advertising the location in EPCOT at the American Gardens - that was so cool! Makes it feel like DVC or something like that.
- The poster art was great as well
- The itinerary was good but didn't give me a 'wow' moment that I needed to go on this trip. It needed a collage of sorts to show me Finland. (because there is plenty to show off) Lastly when will these tours take place? Considering the short days in winter I assume this is in summer? For an ad you might just want to emphasize the when/where of the event.
- Overall though - a very solid first effort and plenty of things to improve on moving forward!

Team S.E.A.!! Great job! The Everyone vs Hosts rounds are always interesting. You see new and unique dynamics form. You work in parks very few players have been to. You're working with a bigger focus on budget than you usually find in armchair imagineering. Plus, there's a mix of a lot of different kinds of things blended together. Dining, shopping, lands, rides, updates, etc. It might not be everyone's favorite round, but its always a very interesting one that pushes players and helps them grow in ways they might not even realize. I remember kind of hating it back in Season 4 while I was doing it, but by the time Season 5 rolled around it was one of the rounds I was looking forward to the most.

Anyways, back on topic. You guys did amazing! Two of the most difficult presentation styles to coordinate with a team are magazines and trip reports. You took the giant combined team and coordinated EVERYONE together to do a trip report magazine! That's insane! I can't tell you how impressed I was that you not only attempted something so ambitious with so large a group, but that you pulled it off! Big shout outs to @NateD1226 and @Disney Dad 3000 for being a big part in making it happen, but everyone worked together great here!
  • The Details in the fake magazine are great! Very fun, very well done!
  • In past seasons, Stanza V has usually been approached as basically just 4 seperate, loosely related projects, you did a great job making it feel like a cohesive whole. Which is why I don't mind having the budgets up front. Usually I would want that at the end or through out, but it fits so well with the presentation doing it this way.
  • The Alton Towers intro is just fantastic! Can't praise the writing here enough.
  • Towers Street is a somewhat basic idea for an entry land, but it is very effective.
  • The Narnia Area/Ride are amazing! Especially to a big Narnia fan like me!
  • It is a bit larger scale than what you have budgetted. The whole massive ride and mini-land are budgetted at 45 Mil. That's about half what I would expect it to cost. Not that it's a big deal, but part of this challenge was to practice using a more realistic scale. It might have been better to either scale this back to just a single ride or make the whole Fabled Forest just Narnia themed.
  • Giant Peach!!! Love this so much!!
  • I'm having trouble picturing how well MAtilda would work as a big dark ride like this. Like, what does the Kuka motion add? What interesting environments do you fly through? Good Dark Rides travel through good environments. I love Matilda, a lot, I just don't think a dark ride is the best way to adapt the story.
  • The Peter Rabbit and Potter stuff seems so charming and fun! Love it!
  • Again, budget seems very small for everything. Sometimes limits can help you focus on the stronger aspects. The Fabled Forest land has three different areas in it, any single area is strong enough to just be the land.
  • SONIC! There are few things I've been a fan of for as long as I have of Sonic. I have played every game at least a bit and beaten every 3D game (Other than Unleashed). Aside from the old rollercoaster, Alton Towers, if I remember correctly, used to also have a Sonic themed family suite at one of its hotels! Though I could be getting parks mixed up. So, as weird as it may sound, Sonic makes perfect sense here. Especially with the movie being a surprise hit.
  • Green Hill would be such an amazing environment for a them park land! So many interesting things to use for decorations, yet the environment is loosely defined enough that you have a lot of freedom in how to recreate it.
  • The Spin Dash Coaster is such a cool idea. I can't imagine it being pleasant to be in that circle up front, but its a real coaster concept out there, so someone must want to do it haha.
  • Love the queue music for Chaos Control
  • This is perhaps a bit too large scale. I adore Sonic, but it isn't a Star Wars/Marvel type of mega-franchise. I'm not sure it warrants something this HUGE. But I'm ok with it, because I personally love it lol
  • Not many games I''ve played as much as SA2, so this ride would be a dream come true.
  • The plot being tied to Eggman destroying them parks was really cute for the context of this game.
  • Efteling
  • I don't have much to say about the Fairy tale dioramas. I love how detailed and thorough the changes are! The amount of passion and care here is very clear! I'm always a sucker for realism, so things like "The bottom half of the mermaid is alright, but here are the issues with the top half" is so cool for me to read! I would say, this is probably WAY more detail than is needed for this section, but presonally I like it because it is exactly the kind of details I get into.
  • Forgetting to charge a phone is a great excuse for explaining away not having art in a trip report project. Very smart work around there.
  • Baba Yaga is a very cool theme for a family coaster, love it! Though I can really only think of John Wick lol
  • Reynard the Fox is also very cool. It's not a story I know about, but you do a good job recounting it. It might be slightly too scattered of a concept having a different era and style for each room. It's tough to say just from reading it if it would be a bit of a scattered mess or an incredible, wonderful work of art.
  • The updates to the rest of the park are all really smart. Small updates, but exactly the type of thing needed for this project.
  • Phantasialand
  • Once again killing it with the intros, transitions, story telling, and presentation. Great writing this project.
  • GReat, subtle photoshop art for the new entrance! The Black Gate is a great choice and would be a really interesting entry point.
  • I love the (I think the term is clock-punk?) Munchausen Palst Land! As you said, it is a great transition to the other lands and it fits the park like a glove.
  • @TheOriginalTiki wasn't the T-Rex Coaster in Discovery Kingdom from us back in Season 4? Or did they build a real one?
  • Rakete sounds amazing! Little touches from the logo to the way the write ups talk about people interacting make it all feel very real.
  • Journey to the Moon just feels like it was written just for me! So detailed, yet still done in the unique style of the presentation with a great focus on the grounded small scale nature of the ride. The phrase "It isn't a state of the art animatronic, but it doesn't need to be" is something I have tattooed on my shoulder. I love rides intentionally designed to be classic feeling C and D Tickets rather than every dark ride being a ground breaking E+ experience. They're just so much more fun for me personally to work on as well as to read.
  • Between the small scale focus and the lovely atmosphere and the simple story... it was just great. Definitely a personal favorite of mine.
  • The Baron's Waltz is another really cute idea!
  • The Observatorium is just a fantastic restaurant!
  • Schwarzland has a great, detailed write up and some very nice photoshop art.
  • I really really love the balloon simulator ride! I assume that's a real attraction concept and I want to ride it!
  • The Enchanted Rickshaws are a good addition, I like your notes about how to keep the budget down while still being amazing!
  • PortAventura/Aventura de Cuatro Mundos
  • Ferrari Land has always sounded like such an odd, weird thing to me. Your changes to it are really clever and a great way to help PortAventura feel like a full resort.
  • Perhaps it is too big scale for the budget and limits of this project, but the loop hole of the sponsors helps with the realism.
  • Basic with Boeing is a great show! I'm really confused as to why it is a Google Doc linked from the magazine rather than a part of the magazine. But it is really good!
  • Moving Flying Races is a clever idea! Simple, but clever.
  • Love the hand drawn art for Space Land! Plus the fun writing and dialogue for the presentation here.
  • I would like a bit more detail as to what Star Chasers actually is, what type of coaster, things like that. Especially since local parks are really big in their focus on coaster "brands". But the writing is very fun!
  • Galaxy Punch. Nice touch. Signature drinks like that are always a really good "plus" to add to a project.
  • The idea of a teacups ride where the spin speed is based on how fast the planet orbits is really cool! A clever, unique spin on a really basic flat ride.
  • Legend of Poseidon is a really cool sounding concept for a ride! I want a bit more to it though. There isn't really a story here though. You wander around, Poseidon thanks you and the sponsor for not polluting, then you wander around under water. A good concept for a ride, but it just needs slightly more going on.
  • Love the wrap up page! It is a lot of fun! As was the whole project!
  • There was some weaker points, but even the weaker points are sandwiched with "There's this small problem, but the rest is super cool." There's nothing bad in the whole project. Well done everyone!
Stanza VI Reviews will be coming very early in the day tomorrow

Discovery Kingdom definitely hasn't built a T-Rex, haha. Nor has any real life park, for that matter. ;)

I believe I designed a Batman themed T-Rex for Discovery Kingdom in season four, back before the park got their S&S Freespin clone Batman ride last year when inexplicably the park existed with a Joker ride, a Superman ride, hell...even a freaking PENGUIN ride, but no Batman, haha. Right now I'd love to see Kong (the park's Vekoma SLC) trashed along with the 3D theater in the back of the area and for an Intamin Blitz coaster to take its place. The park has a 150 foot height limit so having something like Maverick added to the lineup even if it's only about as tall as Joker would be an utter gamechanger.

I will never understand why Six Flags has never invested in Looney Tunes dark rides, beyond just the money thing haha.

Let's do some advertising! Now is your chance to Mad Men! I think! I've never actually watched the show!

1*T7a98KYJ1niEt-N3xLvEUA.jpeg

The Website is great! You did an amazing job using a really simple tool like Google Sites and doing something really cool and unique with it! The links taking you to the real site was a smart idea. This really feels like a real web page advertising an Adventure by Disney!
  • Gonna get the mild negatives out of the way first before getting too far into this, then I'll get to all the good stuff
  • This is almost too realistic. The Act 2 projects of the past have brought super crazy, outside the box, weird stuff like #BloodyWatermelonWall and a new Michael Jackson music video. Not that being realistic is bad, but this just feels like a recreation of actual ad campaigns rather than creating something new and unique.
  • Similarly, there isn't a lot of focus on an ad campaign. It is mostly just the page on the website for the new Adventure. It's incredibly well done! But even something as simple as "This Video Ad will be played on YouTube at roughly the same rate as Bloomberg ads so everyone will see it" would've helped. Or a destination that would be a bit more unique that you could tie a marketting synergy thing to. Like the Stevenson museum @TheOriginalTiki suggested could've been cross promoted with a new Treasure Island movie or Disney+ series!
  • Now that those two small issues are out of the way, let's get to all the good!
  • This knocks realism out of the park! The writing, the art, the wedsite design, the decisions made... It feels so incredibly real! I love that! @D Hindley you did a great job tying everything all together here!
  • Great art by @gam3rprincess! I love seeing you get outside your comfort zone a bit more with drawing different things!
  • The choices of reference photos and poster design are very nice as well.
  • Big shout out to @mickeyfan5534 for being a great leader in the very fast paced round! You did great keeping everything on track!
  • @NateD1226 the video was great! If I didn't see you post this and say you were making it, I 100% would've thought it was a real commercial you just stole from a different ABD and pretended it was about Samoa. Another great element of realism to add to the project!
Overall, this project as an incredible Adventure by Disney project with an incredible amount of realism on every level! But was the advertising campaign side of it enough of a focus? Or was the marketing played too safe in favor of the realism?

There's some truly amazing stuff here! I love the Follow the Magic tagline/poster! The video is great! The other art here is great! Love it! But maybe not the most cohesive whole.
  • Just like with Team Yesterday, I'm gonna start with the negatives and get them out of the way.
  • There's no problem with a forum post presentation at all. Especially with shorter projects like this. But there are little things you can do to spice it up and tie it together more. Like changing the font, aligning the text to the center, maybe even using some different colors in the writing. The forum post wasn't really formatted at all, which makes it feel less exciting and less tied together.
  • It would've been nice to see the "Follow the Magic" be more of a theme throughout. Put the tagline on the Finland poster, edit the FtM poster into the video, little things like that!
  • Now that the bad is out of the way, back to the good!
  • @Disneypugs. you did a great job both on the poster and on leading the team through the brainstorming and getting stuff together! It isn't always easy in these quicker stanzas, you did good keeping the group on task while also doing some great art!
  • @Disney Dad 3000 the map showing the travel plan was a really great touch! I'm sure with your experience in this kind of art it probably was something pretty quick and simple for you to do, but that doesn't make it any less appreciated! It was a great idea and a great plus to elevate the project. These are the kinds of little touches that elevate things. Something you're really great at!
  • @AceAstro (If that's your same name on Twitter I think I almost bought a T-Shirt design you posted on Twitter before lol) the video was great! As someone who doesn't really know a lot about Finland, your video did a lot to sell me on it as a beautiful environment to explore with such a varied landscapes! Videos, even ones that might seem simple like this, can take a lot of time to make work nice and you did a great job with it! Especially with the time crunch!
  • I really really adore the EPCOT tie in! When I first saw the idea posted, it seemed like it was just gonna be a shallow commercial tossed into the park. But you pulled it off in a way where it feels like a great cross promotion that would fit in super well with EPCOT and the World Showcase! Using an under-utlized space as the setting to showcase more of the world than ever before! All while also advertising the Follow the Magic campagin for ABD. This was a great touch and exactly the kind of thing I was hoping to see in this Stanza! (Having it go for more countries/campaigns than just Finland was a good touch too)
  • It's a little thing, but I like how you add the Sources to all your images @Disneypugs. It adds a nice layer of professionalism. no worries if you ever don't do it (We aren't actually professionals or publishing anything lol), but don't think little touches like that go unnoticed even if they aren't shouted out often.
Overall, this had a very strong marketting campaign and communicated things very efficiently with few words and some very strong art/added elements. But is the whole as strong as it's parts? And is there enough unity to tie it all together as one?
