A long time ago, on a forum far far away....
A story of Good vs Evil - the Disney Heroes vs the Galactic Disney Empire - how will it all shape up? Let's find out.
This style-round is always met with challenging circumstances and I have to say this united group managed to navigate their way through it the best they possibly could. A lot of that credit should go to
@NateD1226 - you were given the immense task of having to lead the entire cast of Act 2 by yourself in unfamiliar territory. To be given that tasks, the hosts must have thought you were up for it (or they were evil villains and thought they could outmatch you) but in either circumstance your talent as an imagineer and leader shined through.
Also nice to see the return of some nostalgic team-ups of D Hindey and Disney Dad for the first time since Team Brava in Season 4. And they did not disappoint, and they were also very instrumental, especially Disney Dad on the final day in helping assemble the project.
All in all though - everyone deserves credit for traversing through this challenge unscathed.
I'll also admit I know very little about any of these parks other than what has been written in the threads - so take these reviews from an outsider looking in at taking a trip to Europe I suppose.
The trip report reminds me of...
Hi, I'm Rick Steves,
come with me as I travel the European Parks
- The trip report was a great concept. It fits this project perfectly and makes it feel like an authentic backpack through European parks.
- I love the little details like the first person experiences all throughout.
Alton Towers
- Right off the bat I enjoy the Victorian entrance and literature section - brilliant opening.
- A boat ride through Narnia is a great concept
- The detail in this section is top notch - holy cow - really like the James and the Giant Peach addition as well with a snapshot of the movie too! A childhood memory not soon forgotten.
- Great work
@Brer Oswald on the Sonic section - and your playlist is amazing. I never really knew much about Sonic but you got be interested, awesome.
Efteling
- An aside - I feel so sophisticated listening to this background music
- Most of the early enhancements here especially to the Sleeping Beauty section feel like a mini-Fantasyland of sorts - in a good way!
- Nice work incorporating some older yet still well known tales like the Little Red Riding Hood.
- The Baba Yaga coaster I at first read as Baby Yoda, then as Babu Frik, then eventually to its correct name
Phantasialand
- Elegantly written and gives such an aura of charm to the park.
- Munchausen (same as Munchausen Syndrome?) Palast was wonderful! The attractions in it, especially the wooden coaster Schwarzwald - sound very fun and add their own special themes without restraining from the park's Germanic roots.
- I'm glad I could make the reservations at Das Observatorium because that is definitely somewhere I'd like to dine.
- Love the menu design - I will have the Kielbasa Sandwich while enjoying the scenery.
- I really appreciate how you were able here to continue to tell a story. These reviews are supposed to be ways to improve but I feel bad continuing to say good job and stuff like that. It's been a pleasure to read. Usually I'm the first to complain about long narratives and getting to the point, but I'm more intrigued by a fiction 'trip report' at times and forget this is a project!
Port Adventura
- First off I really appreciate the custom art from this team
@gam3rprincess with the classic hand-drawn sketches and
@Disneypugs. with some logo designs and maps - awesome work!
- This was one of the more light additions but heavy on the story aspect - I just find it so enthralling that you all have come together in this inventive way.
- Star Chasers though was a hit for me - and kudos to
@AceAstro - I know he's had some midterms and stuff recently way to stick around through this - very impressive!
-- Overall, for the creativity and teamwork, let alone the enhancements to these nuanced parks - L.A.N.D. has quite a tsunami in the S.E.A. to navigate.
- For a team of vocal villains I was expecting the Citizen Kane of imagineering projects. Instead what we have was good - but it's a lot like the drop off from what you thought your 20s would be like vs what they actually are.
- I see Scrooge McDuck had a carryover role from MoneyBin Breakout since much of this project focused on the penny-pushing finances.
What S.E.A. did that I enjoyed was they took a penny-pushing project and told a story out of it - they got creative! I think early on there was a quote from an old project we had done on realistic imagineering and budgeting - but while some of those were researched, a lot of finances from our standpoint are more arbitrary for that project since times change, costs are fluid, and so on. That being said - taking the time to plan all that out should be commended for the math and staying true to the premise.
- Trying to conquer the world villains? Teaming up with Google Earth?
Earth? How dare you! It was a cool implementation, props for that. That being said it's a chore to scroll through for 4 parks. There was a project in 2016 that did something similar to this - the problem is you sacrifice the essence of the project (the content) for pizzazz.
This rings true for most of the project - it all sounds cool but it feels more like a Dr. Evil executive pitch list to take over these parks rather than a team united project. To go easy on the villains I'll pick out one thing from each park that I think would be neat to see. It's hard to say these additions/refurbs are bad, but nothing that is overly impressive.
Gardaland
- Gardaland Express sounds interesting - always a fan of trains.
Tivoli Gardens
- The Aquarium I think was a nice touch here.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach
- The Haunted Harbor I think was one of the most fleshed out places in the entire presentation along with the Bikini Bottom which would be neat to see.
Europa Park
- Dino-Europa River Cruise - Dinosaurs and boat rides - can never go wrong there.
----------------------
And with that - we reach the end of this Saga - congrats to all in this epic battle of good vs evil, but only one side can come out on top. Who will it be? Find out - soon!
