The Rock will not Star in 20K Under the Sea

According to BlueSkyDisney and others, Dwayne Johnson is set to star in the newest version of 20K. It is also looking like it will be filmed this year and has been fast tracked by Disney.

So, you ask, what does this have to do with WDW News and Rumors? Well, this may be further proof of the rumored MI addition to AK on the CMM plot actually happening as the making of the movie is part of the rumor. If you research you find MI is in the plot as is the Nautilus of course. And the fact it is being fast tracked seems to me to indicate the new land could be happening soon. As in, by the 40th anniversary! :D

It appears SW and Uni have awakened a sleeping giant.

They would have to start incredibly soon for it to be open by the 40th.

It maybe happening, but not by then.

And to the sleeping giant comment...they never should have been sleeping to begin with.

Thats exciting news ... about AK that is ... as for 20K ... I don't think they should attempt a remake with the crew they have assembled so far, especially the director.

However, I do think the Rock is better than their first choice Will Smith ... I can believe Captain Nemo doing the one raised eyebrow before I can believe him seeing the squid and saying, "Awwwww h*ll nawww!!"

I agree about McG. Terrible choice for this kind of movie.

As for The Rock, he is a very talented actor. I'd really like to see him pull this off. Although I would rather see the guy who plays Sayid on LOST get a shot at Nemo...:lookaroun

Good call ... Naveen Andrews would make a good Nemo.

Sorry, but...

Will Smith = Bad Choice

The Rock = Worse Choice

James Mason = Perfect

I say go get a great, young, English unknown for the lead. I'm tired of poor casting just because they need to have a Big-Bill name. I'm sure there's a perfect Young Nemo actor out there we'll never see.

Now THERE you go. He did good with what he had in Lost, and was also an excellent side character in Planet Terror. Great accent, great acting, THERE YOU GO.

...By poorly casting a most likely horrendous re-imagining?

I would have agreed with you until I saw the previews for Terminator. If this is on that scale I think it will be awesome. Of course, if it leads to an MI addition to AK........and in my best DJ voice.....

"IT DOESEN'T MATTER WHAT YOU THINK!"

Kidding, all in fun. I think DJ is a great choice for Nemo!

If Sean Connery weren't retired I through him in as Nemo. The Rock is one of Hollywood's most underrated actors so here's hoping he doesn't get stuck in a film like JTTCOTE 3D.

Edit: Why isn't Christian Bale in the movie?

CB "What are you doing!?"
CM "I'm fixing the underwater lighting."
CB "That doesn't cut it!!!!!! You're a nice guy but your messing up my movie. Grrrrrrrr,"

jk Christian Bale is a great actor.

Why? He's a good actor, but he doesn't fit the mold.

There is a mold? If there is one thing he has proven it's the ability to destroy molds. I think this could be a real break out role for him on the acting side. I'm quite serious in that it allows him to play a more complex character and I think he is up to the challange.

That is exactly what I was thinking when JT04 said that

I don't think anyone wants a ride (much less a land) that includes AA's of The Rock and his goofy antics at animal kingdom.
