That's quite the stretch.Actually, Hogsmeade does make sense in IoA. The theme of the park is stories and literature. Kong will actually be the first break of this theme but because it takes place on Skull Island, it still kind of fits.
Yeah I know, it is a pretty big stretch. That's quite the stretch.
At this point I just hope they abandon even attempting to somehow join all of the parts (current and especially future parts) in this park under some half baked back story. It's better to just give us good experiences and work on keeping the site line intrusions minimal. I'm not opposed to a sum of the parts approach at this point and I'm hoping the name change is part of this plan. It works for me at IOA.I know some of you have been looking for me to pontificate further on the OP and what it may/likely/does mean, and I hate disappointing anyone (even if people disappoint me on a daily basis!)
BUT ... I really have nothing more to add right now ... and I can't/won't go thru 18 pages of people talking of possible future names. I don't have the answer just more speculation.
I will say that the current moniker is largely meaningless, but that has more to do with the phenomenon of throwing anything in this park, so that it becomes just part of Dizzy World and the BRAND. It's not the only park, or even resort that suffers this affliction. DCA may look world better and have lots of quality, but it still has no focus. It's a mish-mash of theme and concepts and product. ... And we all know what EPCOT has become and even the MK.
UNI isn't immune from this, although one can argue that Diagon Alley stays truer to the 'Ride the Movies' conceit than dropping Hogsmeade into IOA.
The point being that quality or not, the idea of a focused theme park just doesn't seem as important to the players in the business as it once did.
Right now, I can argue that in O-Town the only parks that are true to their mission statements would be DAK, UNI and SW.
I liked "Frozen" well enough when I first saw it, but when it comes to the parks, I'm getting to the point where I never want to hear that particular "f" word again. And for the record, I like "Tangled" more."Success"? The second movie was a flop. Just so you know. The Muppet area needs to go altogether IMO. I think it'd be a perfect area to put a Frozen attraction in. For one thing, it's enclosed. Imagine walking through DHS during a balmy Orlando day and suddenly coming upon a frozen Arendelle Town Square, with "snow" on the ground, icicles on all of the buildings and a frozen, sparkling fountain. The Imagineers could contrive to make the area a bit colder, and "snow" could fall every now and then, a la Main Street during the Christmas Party. And the theater could be re-themed to a Frozen 3D show, with snow falling inside of the theater, AND it could be downright chilly in there. I think this would be a huge hit, and better use of the area.
Although Magic Kingdom would be a much better place for Frozen. But I don't know if there's any more room out there for a decent-sized attraction.
That's okay, Spirit! The information alone that a name change is being considered is real significant because this means a real makeover/expansion is being (at least) considered! Throw in what Jim Hill said about sending the Imagineers to Uni to study what they have done/are doing means the company is at minimal thinking about taking it seriously. It will be interesting to see where this goes. Projects don't always make it to ground breaking, as we tragically all know!I know some of you have been looking for me to pontificate further on the OP and what it may/likely/does mean, and I hate disappointing anyone (even if people disappoint me on a daily basis!)

How is a name change proof of a makeover? There have been more name changes at Disney theme parks without any sort of make over than with. That's okay, Spirit! It's not proof, but, as I said, it's a logical move if it were part of a makeover-expansion project. If this is being brought up, then it is encouraging that the odds are that it is at minimal being considered. How is a name change proof of a makeover? Instead of creating a new theme to match a snappy new name, they're just matching the name to the currently muddled theme -
Diswood Hollios Studney.
Disney has only really created a problem when they stopped clearly improving on what was replaced compounded by so much being removed without replacement.
The day we lose GMR will be a sad one indeed. IMO it's the flagship ride of the whole park. The one that perfectly showcases the theme. When it's lost is when the park loses the last shred of its identity, if it even still has one.I would imagine they would just go with all the other studio parks... WDS
Then pixar and lucas both fit their billing... and allows them to abandon the GMR and yet another AA heavy attraction :/
