The Park Formerly Known as Disney's Hollywood Studios? Yep ...

I would imagine they would just go with all the other studio parks... WDS

Then pixar and lucas both fit their billing... and allows them to abandon the GMR and yet another AA heavy attraction :/
Why abandon the GMR? That is the worst suggestion I've ever heard! Spirit never suggested such a thing. Jim Hill is who did on a podcast. I would trust Spirit over Jim Hill any day! Wouldn't you?

Never mind, you don't listen to podcasts and I'm on stealth...

The day we lose GMR will be a sad one indeed. IMO it's the flagship ride of the whole park. The one that perfectly showcases the theme. When it's lost is when the park loses the last shred of its identity, if it even still has one.

I think they can change the park name and the theme and still keep the ride as is. If the theme is generic like "movies" or even broader "entertainment" then GMR still fits well since it is a run through of classic movies through history. Probably could use a bit of updating though.

Well now that we have so many empty buildings. It's hard telling what they will do. Will we lose Indy? if we do, then that whole side of the park is empty and could easily turn into StarwarsLand. But then you have the area of LMA and BLT. If those two were gone, thats a HUGE area for something else. I mean could you really do 2 huge areas of just Starwars? Might be a bit too much.

But two mini-lands like the way Magic Kingdom is, would be great!

[QUOTE="WDW1974, post: 6278925, member: 54925"I will say that the current moniker is largely meaningless, but that has more to do with the phenomenon of throwing anything in this park, so that it becomes just part of Dizzy World and the BRAND. It's not the only park, or even resort that suffers this affliction. DCA may look world better and have lots of quality, but it still has no focus. It's a mish-mash of theme and concepts and product. ... And we all know what EPCOT has become and even the MK.[/QUOTE]
The sad thing for the long-term visitors is that the original park held together so well. The intros from actual stars was fun, and as you went around the park, there was a sense of you being somewhere unique.

Maybe, as you say, the time for the idea of transporting you somewhere else is gone. Disney was a much different company way back then, and times do change. Maybe we are all just mourning the loss of our childhood.

The shopping mall has evolved to a Walmart, and maybe it's time for the them park to evolve to a shopping mall.

There have been rumors of the end of GMR as we know it for a very long time.

I believe GMR being the flagship attraction is wrong. The building was flagship centerpiece of the park yes, but it was actually the 2 hour backlot tour that was the main attraction for years until the studios left the park and the tour was shuttered into an utter crapfest.

It will be sad if it goes, but they really need to just update it to make the attraction more relevant to actually become and be worthy of being called the parks' flagship attraction!

Checked in yesterday and my CM doing the duty told me the name would be Hollywoodland. Then he told me American Idol was going very soon, that area will have something to do with Frozen, and somewhere behind that area they are starting Star Wars ? Or maybe I heard him wrong but he definitely said HS was was going to be Hollywoodland. Maybe it is 2 words though...Hollywood Land

I thought they were going to name it Disney's Hollywoodland. Also, it would be one word and not two.

Disney's Hollywood Land??? I just don't like it. And with AI Experience closing, just shortens the amount of attractions that tpfkaDHS has to offer. Hopefully we get a press release soon about coming construction plans for tpfkaDHS.

The name change:
Disney's...nothing wrong with that
Hollywood...perfect fit for the theme and the attractions
Studios...(still) confuses this park with Universal...when people hear Hollywood Studios they think Universal
So Studios needs to change because it literally sends people to Universal
Logistically it should be changed to another more appropriate "S" word so they don't have to change the initials (at least)..."S" words I can think of in my order of preference:
"Sensation" very descriptive of your park experience, and a lot of pop in the name.
....the Magic Kingdom is "Magical", Epcot is "Wonderful", DHS is "Sensational"
"Spectacular" little meaning but lots of pop
"Stars" or "Starpower", very meaningful, and could push a new theme of "making you a star" and stars everywhere
"Storyland" or "Story" or "Stories", bland but somewhat accurate and Disneylike
"South" or "Southeast",
I will add more if/when I think of them...
If there is no acceptable "S" word, then I would suggest Disney's Hollywood Experience DHE, I don't really see it being an "Adventure" personally.
The new Frozen attraction rumor:
It seems absolutely obvious considering the tremendous popularity of the Summer Frozen Fun (now extended into the fall), and the sudden early closing of Idol, that that theater space WILL be used for another Frozen project, like a permanent Frozen Fun show (to either add to the frozen fun or free up the current theater it is in for the various other shows it hosts)

I'm at a loss for words. There's really no reason for this (at least no good reason) and it is completely unnecessary. Disney('s) Hollywood Studios tells you everything you need to know. I would venture the vast majority of people go only expecting a theme park and not a working studio, so no confusion on that end. And the name reflects a collection of studios involved in the business of making movies - Lucasfilm Studios, Muppet Studios, Pixar Studios, Walt Disney Studios, etc. All of which largely represent the lands that the park attempts to cover now. It provides such a fitting framework for the park, all the company needs to do is to fully develop them. Create a Star Wars/Indiana Jones section for the Lucasfilm Studios section (if nothing else bring over the Indy Roller Coaster from Paris for a cheaper Indy section). Add a ride to Muppets and a rotating 3D Muppet film, maybe even a stage show in the Premier. There are several rides that could be added to Pixar Place - the long rumored Door Coaster to Soundstage 1, add in a ride from A Bug's Land, add in Ratatouille or Crush's Coaster, add in any of the 3 rides from Cars Land or a Cars-type speedway ride. If you want, replace Beauty and the Beast with Tangled and The Little Mermaid with Frozen. And give the Great Movie Ride the refurbishment and refreshing it deserves. I could go on and on with suggestions, but the point is it's not that hard or necessarily that expensive. It just takes conviction to develop a plan and stick to it. Which unfortunately seems to be sorely lacking in the company of late. :banghead:
