okay , Lee, let me ask you a question, out of all the things that they could have associated with the Jungle cruise, why is King Louie on that boat that you show?

and how old is that toy?

they could have put anything with that boat, but they chose King Louie. Anything. why?

Someone needs to call in Jack Bauer on this one.

yes i completely agree

Now i do admit this sounds very far fetched but thats not to say its not true i do think that would have been very dumb if king louie was on the ride but the rock thing sounds kinda cool.....there needs to be some kinda proof about this time to research

think about this.. I am 53.. you would have had to been close to 60 or more today to even have "worked " at WDW when it first opened. there aren't that many Old timers out there. and I have yet to hear of one who posts at this forum.

are you going to tell me that the Big Tree did not exist as well.

because it was one of the things that my dad and I discussed, because we were told that "every tree" has a match some where else on the compound should it get destroyed. and we commented on how could they come up with a 50 plus year old tree somewhere else..

I am not trying to disrespect anyone or their knowledge here. But please, if some one else had or has asked about it, then may be two of us cannot be "wrong" so to speak.. again, have we both had the "same imagination?"

No, bjlc57. Nobody here has any pictures or video of what you describe.

I'd suggest you take up your cause with the official archivist, Dave Smith

Please be sure to update your thread when you find your answer. :animwink:

First of all...Martin's info wrong?

Second of all. I've looked through our operational guide at the Jungle Cruise hundreds of times, which includes photos from it's construction, to photos of scenes from '71, to the original track layout with scene list. No King Louie. Never happened.

But we were supposed to get the gorilla vs croc scene right after the gorilla camp. The stage is there to this day. Right after you pass the gorilla camp, you see some rockwork. That's where it was supposed to go.

Where it may go it everything goes according to plan...;)

This is from wikipedia and its the closet i can come to find on this topic but the thing this thing from wikipedia never even happened so idk

At Disneyland Paris

Unlike the other parks there is no Jungle Cruise style attraction due to the cold temperature and weather of France. However a similar attraction called "Jungle Expedition" was planned where guests would board a jeep and traverse a steamy jungle which was under the protection of a glass roof to keep elements out. The jeeps would have passed giraffes, a pool of hippos under a suspension bridge, and a large temple where guests would have witnessed the "I Wanna Be Like You" segment from the Disney film, The Jungle Book, complete with audio animatronic versions of Mowgli, King Louie, Baloo, Bagheera, and the Monkeys. The jeeps then would have been chased by a tiger before returning to the load area.

That toy is circa 1994, from the McDonalds "Disneyland Adventurers" collection. Louie was picked to represent Adventureland, other characters were picked for the other lands. Purely a coincidence.

I have sent off an email to the west coast to get confirmation, but I am fairly positive that there was never any sort of effect to simulate falling rocks at the temple, nor a King Louie figure. In fact, I recall some uproar a few years ago at the notion of introducing characters (Timon and Pumba) to the Jungle, since it had always been a "character free zone."

There has been some people who want that to happen. (Espesicially if your Dreamtheater87 on youtube...)

But maybe you're thinking of Paris...

well again.. yes should get a hold of David Smith.

the deal was the boat goes into the tunnel and there are "rocks falling" behind the boat, at the mouth of the tunnel.

remember truth is more fantastic then fiction. sometimes you just can't make this stuff up..

and there is no need to. because I lived it.

yes, well I saw this same "Paris concept" a million years ago in 1971.

and I want to add that I am glad that we are "discussing this " and not arguing about it.

this is not about personalities or what not. and I was not trying to disrespect anyone and their inside information. or park knowledge. you all have information far and above any that I can provide. I just have the knowledge and the privilege of having ridden the ride when I did.
