The New X-Box

I like my PC for the sandbox games like Borderlands 2. I will more than likely get South Park: The Stick of Truth on PC.

How did that Titan card work out for your rig?
Same deal for me. Some games are just made for console in my opinion and some need to be experienced on PC. However, everyday I get closer to being PC only.

After I finally got the thing to fix, and replaced my PSU...

Chews up anything thrown at it.

Got Farcry 3 up to 52 fps at ultra detail, which I will put against the very best graphics of any console.

Speaking of which, apparently the new Xbox One was not shown at E3 in a complete state hardware wise, but was using regular PC's with Nvidia 3d chips, when the Xbox One will use AMD 3d chips. There was thought these units were development kits but apparently the were just off the shelf HP PC's.

That's pretty embarrassing considering there are photos.

Iam not one of those guys who has strict brand loyalty when it comes to gaming systems, but this is making Microsoft look bad.

Jimmy Thick- And these PC's were running Windows 7...

Microsoft isn't doing it for themselves though. They're doing it for the developers. Sony is leaving it up to the developers which is probably a better approach but Sony is not a good company. For years they have made proprietary hardware. I don't trust them.
Yes the developers have the choice for used games but it's Microsoft enforcing checking in every 24hrs or else your system is a brick. Unless Sony changes, they have said no online requirements needed ever. With the extra revenue from used games and the DRM curbing piracy and all these so called benefits to the developers, shouldn't games cost less money? Funny thing, Xbox1 games will no doubt cost $70 now. And do you really want to pay that much (or even the same as now) for something you can not keep forever? Not I.

Forgot about the Eye thing.
Honestly, I don't want to get into an XBOX vs PS bash fest. Just wanted to point out something that seems to be being ignored.
I really don't care who gets what console. I hope everyone gets one that will please them in whatever way.
Sony made one of their smartest decisions since the PS2, let Microsoft take all the heat and slip in their negatives through the back door. The reason people don't really care that much about the online cost is because anyone with a brain saw it coming. Xbox fans already know the benefits of a paid network and most Sony fans I know would welcome the paid service if it would mean the same quality as Live. Reason 2 I think its being ignored is because honestly it's the lesser evil to the "core" gamer. As of now, Sony made a box for gamers. What Microsoft did was create an entertainment box to cater a bit to everyone.

You sure about that?

I think bricking it is a little exaggerated. When you "brick"something, its rendered useless. If they do go through wit this 24 hour policy, it will be back on she your internet returns. I already can share my internet with my phone so if my house goes out, share my data plan, go through this supposed ping and viola I'm back. If you're using modern consoles without internet these days you should honestly not expect much anymore. I love campaign modes for most games but there is a huge difference in what gets added to multi player vs campaign these days as opposed to 5 years ago.

The size of the XB1 is of absolutely zero concern to me. As long as it will fit in my entertainment system I am good with it. Considering the number of overheating problems they had with the 1st gen 360s, I would much rather have them put it in a larger, better ventilated case.

Really, unless your space is at some kind of extreme limit, the XB1 is really not that much bigger.
What i'm hoping for is that the XB1 runs quieter than the 360 did.

Well I see a lot of first party to sell for $60 but developers have complained that next gen development will be more expensive. So it wouldn't shock me one bit if you see games come out at the $70 price point. But like I had said, even if its the same price, its still too high for something eventually will be useless. Now if Microsoft came out and said when server support goes away the system will be unlocked and DRM free, than I might change my mind.

It really isn't exaggerated. Microsoft has confirmed multiple times the 24hr check in. You are right, when something is bricked its rendered useless. As far as I can tell the Xbox1 will be useless to play a game if it has not checked in. That is bricked in my book. So what happens to your investment once the Xbox1 servers are shut down? You have a useless piece of junk. I don't have data tethering for my cell phone so if my internet goes down I am screwed. I just don't see the need for this on a home console, especially for a single player game.

I truly believe this is half to make sure you're not pirating games and half to make sure the cloud features work all the time.

I don't mind either case.

I cannot remeber the last time my internet was out for more than a few hours. If the outage is on ms end well then a call will yield credit, usually more than the outage would have cost me.

I hope no one is complaining about paying $70 for a game. That's a good deal here in Australia. Cal of Duty costs $120 here!

The Simpsons is my preparation before every trip to the US :p

It pains me to admit how often it is dead on accurate. South Park hits the nail on the head quite often as well.

That being said, Australia is #1 on my list of other countries to visit. I like the idea of every single living thing on a continent being able to kill me.:D
