The New X-Box

I'm sticking with the One.
Honestly, the restrictions on game sharing don't bother me as I don't share my games with anyone anyway. Maybe it would be different if I was still in high school, or living in a college dorm. As far as having to be online once every 24 hours, not a big deal to me. My 360 connects automatically every time I turn it on, and my connection very rarely breaks at all.

Sony is playing good guy here but DRM is up to the studio on their games so you can bet your boots it will be on any blockbuster titles..

If the kinect spying on you worries people, leave a hat on it. I do believe all the negative hysteria is going to hurt Microsoft here but once people realize that their exclusives are pretty amazing it will be well worth it to have an Xbox as well.

This will be the key. MS is risking the good will of the consumer for the good will of the developer. If you get an XB1 exclusive like Half-Life 3, people will jump off that Sony bandwagon in a heart beat.

I do understand peoples' concerns about the Kinect.
But, what are some people doing in front of their XBOX that they're so worried about? Maybe it's the people who spout vile racism while playing online who don't want to be visually identified?

We all know that will never happen unfortunately :(

I understand that this is a "character" but wow is he annoying!

Microsoft did hurt themselves with comments like this but I am glad they are confident. It has always been a superior online system. Sony has a long way to go to be on par with Xbox live.

So are you happy about losing your investment once the next xbox comes out after the one? At this point that is what will happen when the servers are taken down at some point. Will the 24hr check in be a problem when you buy **insert game here** and there is an internet problem or server problem and you can't play your awesome $60 game. Too much can go wrong with the tech and so much can change in life. I don't care how good the games are, I will not make a $500 investment on a system and shell out the $60 a game for something that I really don't own.

To be honest nothing can make me buy a Xbox system! Its not because I am a Sony fanboy, but its because they have my favorite exclusives Little Big Planet, MLB The Show, Killzone and Uncharted! MLB The Show is a big seller for me since its one of my favorite game series! Also the new Killzone looks sick

Were you upset that LBP 3 won't be a launch title with the PS4? I sure was! Xbox's Project Spark looks like a worthy replacement however.

It looks very intriguing. The more I hear about the always on connection , the more I think its a huge benefit. From ai to screen loads its going to change a lot. The ps4 just seems like an incremental upgrade like apple does on the iPhone. Not enough has changed to consider it revolutionary. Ms is actually trying to make gaming better through cloud services.

I agree. It is funny how things change. Remember when Sony was running their "It does everything" add campaign.

When I was making the 360/PS3 decision back in 2007 I went with the 360 because it was the most complete gaming system. I did not really care about the extras on the PS3. Fast forward 6 years and those extras are a big deal. I can do Nextflix through my blu-ray player, my tv or my 360. I use the 360 because it has the best interface by a long shot. The same is true for virtually everything that the 360 can do. The One has taken that a step further and will make it to where I can further simplify and enhance my entertainment life. I can move my blu-ray player into another room and I might actually be able to ditch my cable box as well (DVR will be the deciding factor in that).

One thing that I'm happy about is HDMI in and out. People don't realize how great it works until you have a device that uses it. My Google TV is IMO the best set top box on the market because it has HDMI pass through. No waiting for different inputs to switch.

I ended up going with and AV receiver for my hub (Sony STR-DH740). That along with a Logitec Harmony 650 greatly simplified my life. Everything (360, Wii, blu-ray,Direct TV) goes through the receiver giving me surround sound on everything (there is nothing like being able to hear a grenade clink on you left rear in CoD) and the switching and power schemes are are handled by the remote.

Harmony is the single greatest product line ever. Had my harmony one for a year now and I love it.

I could not agree more. I had a Phillips Pronto rocking a custom Star Trek LCARS menu about a decade ago and loved it, but my non-techie family would not use it. It finally bit the dust after one too many trips from the arm of the couch to the tile floor. I got the 650 when we replaced the TV a couple of years ago and could not be happier with it. I just bought a second one for the bedroom since my old AV receiver will be heading in there in the very near future.
