I voted for Can't Decide... I am looking forward to the Wizard World of Harry Potter opening. And I am also looking forward to the Fantasy Land Expansion. Sure the addition of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will help boost attendance for Universal. I am personally not a fan of the Harry Potter Franchise but I do like taking pictures and apparently the new addition will provide some cool photograph opportunities. The thing is, a lot of people come to Orlando to vacation and perhaps a majority of them stay for a week... This new addition to Islands of adventure will not change the fact, in my opinion, that Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure are not more than a 1 day park each...So where will they vacationers spend the remainder of their vacation? Well maybe a day at Sea World... And then Disney .. I see it as a Win Win for all involved...

Well, it certainly plays a big role.

But...here....to make YOU happy:

They'll both be great and be so in different ways. This is like comparing apples to oranges.

:wave::ROFLOL:

I like Disney better as well, but from a pure theme park expansion standpoint Potter blows FLE out of the water. It provides substance with looks. Rather than just looks.

I never said it didn't.:shrug:

It's just that Disney is Disney and I like that better. :lol:

Besides, I think the amount of detail that Disney will put into FLE will greatly surpass HP's. But we don't know that yet.

I know.

But to me, and this is my opinion, trees, water, rockwork, and differentialted architecture will beat out the solitary look of Hogsmead.

That said, Hogsmead IS STUNNING. Disney Quality, that is for sure. I can't wait to see it finished and all the details added.

Exactly, it's not finished. On Hogwarts grounds and Dragon Challenge you'll have trees, rockwork, water and different architecture.

You've never been through DC's queue. That alone is a breathtaking walk through a forest and a castle.

I KNOW, SEAN.:fork::fork::ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

Honestly, they'll both come out great, detailed and immersive.

I give the edge to Disney, however, just because I like them more, and I think they can do better work.

Of course I'm looking forward to the new FL, but as a 22 year-old male, HP is a bit more up my alley, if only by comparison.

Just based on the concepts, I've got to give Universal the edge here. Hogwarts is going to have a lot more appeal than "Princessland" or whatever it is they're putting together for 3 main reasons:

1. The Harry Potter books and movies appeal to a kids, adults, and teenagers whereas mid-90's Disney movies are a turn-off to most teenagers and almost all boys.

2. The Harry Potter universe is richer and deeper than any of the individual mythologies of these Disney movies. (Mostly just because of the sheer volume of the content of those books)

3. It's almost always easier to emulate and capture the aesthetics of a live action movie than an animated one.

A caveat though- the new Fantasyland isn't meant to be a single unified themed "area" so much as several smaller ones. It's going to be more akin to Frontierland where the "realities" of Splash Mountain and Thunder Railroad are completely different (Talking animal reconstruction-era Georgia vs. Turn of the century Nevada) even though they mesh thematically into the same kind of category. I imagine Hogwarts is going to be more akin to the Africa area of Animal Kingdom- several different shops, attractions, and restaurants and the connecting theme serve to create and maintain a consistent experience. This is arguably a better model for a theme park- it's much harder to plan and pull off interrelated rides and areas that all maintain a common theme without one attraction sticking out like a sore thumb OR the theme becoming boring. Other examples of self-contained "mega themed" areas would be Tomorrowland circa 1998 or the Gotham City area at Six Flags over Georgia circa 2001.

We'll have to wait and see how well Universal and Disney can actually pull off their respective projects though.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is going to blow the FLE out of the water! Heck, I'm getting a Uni AP for the first time in about 3 years because of it. :D

Potter.

The theming for both look to be about equal, but Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey looks to be a game changer of an attraction, and the combine efforts of TLM and a bunch of meet and greets(Experiences! :rolleyes:) can't come close to it. It appeals to a broader demographic than the princesses, as well.

You know that the new FL+TLM won't come close to HP - even though you have ridden or seen neither of them? You must have a really good crystal ball.

No crystal ball. I have Force visions. Similar, but often times more hazy

Of course, as Master Yoda always says, "Always in motion, the future is." So who knows!?:lol:

Do we have any idea what that thing is supposed to be yet?
I'm guessing haunted swing but in more dimensions, like the Tomb Raider ride at King's Island before they ruined it.

You know Sum of All Thrills at Innoventions, that, on a track, with screens, AAs, and set pieces.

Not a fan of HP. Ill go see and ride the dark rides and coasters though. I just won't get all giddy about some broomsticks, dragons and other forms of the stories.

I knew that KUKA arms are confirmed, but are they really going to track the things? The weight and stresses would be tremendous.
I figured they were just going to make the show vehicles larger and have fewer of them, and the arm could move you from stage to stage while keeping the same axis. At the most, you could have a couple arms on a turntable.

A track though? Is this confirmed?
