The "New" ADR system is the pits!

Okay. That was just baaaad! I called Disney Dining at 6:30 a.m. CST to make reservations for my brother's upcoming trip in May. This was his 90 day mark. First, I was on hold for 15 minutes and got an agent who was able to make only 1 reservation for me before transferring me to another line to make the rest of the ADRs. In all fairness, she warned me my hold time would probably be "significant". So about 50 minutes later I got agent #2. It took her 15 minutes and numerous trips to Hold-Land just to confirm my brother's resort reservation. Each ADR she checked for me took no less than 5 minutes just to get a yes or no on the availability. One of the days she never got anything to come up with an answer on. The total call time was over 2 hours. I guess it's a good thing I'm a stay-home mom because I don't know how people who have jobs would be able to spend this kind of time just to make reservations. And after the 2+ hour call I can look forward to calling back to try and fill in that one day that would never book anything. :brick:

The long hold time had to be due to how slow the new ADR system is because the agent sure had a hard time getting it to do anything. I just can't imagine how this is an improvement over the old system. I have planned many a trip for myself, family, and friends and never sat on the phone for that long. Insane! :hammer:

I rang yesterday and the hold just to speak to someone was the worst I have experienced. I thought maybe they had laid some staff off to save money. When I got to speak to someone all of the Fantasmic Packages on all 5 days the show is on while I am their had sold out! We are going at the end of April for 2 weeks and usually at this time the parks at fairly dead and it's generally very easy to make bookings right up to a couple of weeks before. The cut back on Fantasmic shows must be having a knock on affect on dining in the Studios because on any other days we could have a pick of any time.

Much will depend on if your ADR is before or after May 26.

Before May 26 they use the old system.

On or after May 26 they need to use the new system - and not all are trained on that yet.

Wow, that's too bad. I had no problems when I called a few weeks ago on my 90 day mark, which happened to be a Saturday. I called around 9am est and was on hold for about 5 mins to get to speak to someone and the total call was only around 15 mins. I had no problem with the reservation specialist and she was able to get me everything I needed without putting me on hold to verify anything. Sorry to the OP for the problems.

Well let's hope they get trained in the next week. I'll be making my ADRs next Monday for my trip May 31 - June 6

Everyone that should be answering the dining line should have already been trained on the new system.

I understand it's those that book the room reservations and guest service departments that have not been trained yet.

Well I feel a little better now...

Calling for ADR's always has me nervous Im not going to get what I want. I always have a spreadsheet with extra options and if they say something is not available I always get clustered and just say Ill call back. My last trip I didnt have to do that but the time before that I had to call quite a few times.

Yes! The 26th is the day they couldn't get any reservations for me because the system wouldn't accept the date and has been the day that made the difference. And the CM said stuff about training and making a note about stuff to tell the others repeatedly. Yesterday I called for the stuff I could do on the old system and that was done in no time. It's stuff on/after the 26th that is such a nightmare!

I guess its just the luck of the draw. We're going through Kingdom Konsultants, let them handle it for you.:D

Ditto, here. I got up last Sunday and had an e-mail from Marie at Kingdom Konsultants, and she let me know that my ADR's were all taken care of and there was nothing else that I needed to do. She sure has made this upcoming trip a whole lot easier on me. :D

Okay. I called back while I was getting the kids from school. I went right thru with virtually no wait. The CM that helped me said this morning they had a lot of technical difficulties with the new system. THere were a few hiccups but she was able to book my dining for the 26th. Because of the delay I didn't end up getting what I originally want. LeCellier was totally booked until the end of the week. Good thing I grabbed that one on a different day while on the phone this morning. WHew!

Must have been lucky with our rezzies as well, phoned around 8 EST last Friday night, got thru to someone right off the bat and got all of the rezzies we wanted for our trip in mid May, includeing Le Cellier:slurp:. The only thing we couldnt get, like the OP was a Fantasmic package but all in all I was very happy with the efficent and helpful nature of my CM.

The difference is the date. If you were booking on or after 5/26 you were on the "new" system. Everything up to the 25th was on the old system.

Fantasmic dinner package is soooo not for me. I've seen Fantasmic once and it really didn't do a thing for me. But I always wish for everyone to get their "wishes" on their trips!

I called less than 30 days out for an Akershus lunch. Got a table at a good time (11:25, with other options available), no wait to get an attendant on the other line. Lucky I guess.

Hate the 40 different "say English", "press x" etc. that come before hand.

Geese! I sure as heck hope all the kinks are worked out soon... I still have awhile before I hit the 90 day mark so I'm thinking things should be better my then. Fingers crossed!

Wow, thank heavens for Kingdom Konsultants! I'm usually big into doing everything myself but they have definitely made things easier on me, especially with the ADRs!

Le Cellier seems to be getting more popular every day! They were completely booked for the day I wanted but that's alright, I've been there before. It's forcing me to try a new place!
