Crazy run that guy had! I was a massive WWF fan as a kid in the late 80s/ early 90's. Back when the wrestlers were more like cartoon characters on steroids. I started tuning out when they started going the "edgier" route. I remember when he would come out of the coffin with Paul Bearer walking down to the stage with the fog in the dark. To think that that same guy just retired is crazy. Those were the WWF glory days... Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Macho Man, Zeus, Brutus the Barber Beefcake, The Bushwhackers... I could go on.

It is crazy to think that he had a 30+ year career in sports entertainment. In not many actual sports would that even be possible. The 5-part documentary series The Last Ride on WWE Network (free 30-day trial ftw) was hands down one of the best things I've seen in recent memory and really actually made me sad.

Oh, I was meaning to ask if they had ripped off SoR2. SoR2 is the first video game I ever beat on my Genesis and one of my all-time favorites.

No. They are both beat 'em ups. Final Fight was in the arcades in '89 while Streets of Rage 2 was '92. Double Dragon ('87) was one of the original beat 'em ups. Renegade was the first beat 'em up in '86.

With all of the flooding and raining currently taking place in China, there's a very real possibility the poorly built Three Gorges Dam will burst. Could spell disaster for China. If it does burst, millions of lives will be lost due to the negligence of the dam's construction and refusal to acknowledge the possible danger. Water from the break would flood all the way to Shanghai, if I understand correctly. Shanghai Disneyland will be wiped away, causing even more damage to the already injured Walt Disney Company. Would also be crippling to the global economy, due to our reliance on Chinese production.

It took a lot of mental gymnastics to try and justify relating this to Disney. Shanghai or SDL is not getting wiped away. Keep your China conspiracy theories in the political forum.

I tried and they deleted my thread. Anyway, this is a misc thread and the possibility of the Three Gorges Dam breaking would be disastrous for everyone. We'll see how it pans out.

misc Disney, not misc political. FYI from someone who lived in China. It is very hard to get truthful information regarding China. That goes for state run Chinese media as well as the western media who are catering to the China is evil crowd.

When looking at an overhead view of both Disneyland and DCA there is one glaring difference between the two. The amount of trees and the maturity of those trees as DL had a 45 year head start. I wonder how much just this one fact (even at a subconscious level) contributes to me liking Disneyland so much more than DCA.

It's the reason why Grizzly Peak is the only land in DCA I actually like, I suspect.

Makes sense. I wouldn’t say it’s the only land I like but it is the only land that really kind of takes me someplace else. As good as a job they did with Cars Land and as much as I enjoy certain aspects of the Pier. BVS is nice but its too small / compact to even make it into the discussion.

I love that they got rid of the smoking area on the scenic trail around the rapids. I had to avoid that area for years due to someone in my party having bad reactions to cigarette smoke. It really is a beautiful area and needs to be fully appreciated. DCA has a few areas that take me away and some areas that really don't want me to go anywhere.

More trees certainly helps, but the main reason, I’m sure, you like DL better is because it represents decades of people sincerely aiming to delight, astonish and inspire the park’s guests.

DCA was designed under a leadership that wanted to see how little spending they could get away with while still emptying people’s wallets. And after a ray of hope with Cars Land, Pixar Pier was a return to that philosophy.
