I love that they got rid of the smoking area on the scenic trail around the rapids. I had to avoid that area for years due to someone in my party having bad reactions to cigarette smoke. It really is a beautiful area and needs to be fully appreciated. DCA has a few areas that take me away and some areas that really don't want me to go anywhere. 😅

It’s kind of ironic that towards the end the two smoking areas were in the nature areas of Big Thunder Trail and the area you mention in Grizzly Peak. All smoking should have been confined to the Hollywood backlot.

Glad I can go walk by those waterfalls without the smoke now.

That reminds me- why doesn’t Galaxies Edge have any little side paths like the one in Grizzly Peak? Imagine how much fuller it would feel if there was some little path that led to a waterfall and then a cave with some holographic/ AA Yoda walk thru attraction. I remember they kept comparing it to NOS and their was supposed to be all these alleys to explore. Instead we got the one little Straight path marketplace and then a bunch of shut doors and windows around the village. On the other side it’s just Big Thunder Trail West (but way less interesting (no train, River, BTMRR,) until you get to the village side. It’s pretty obvious that imagineers were banking on that Bantha mover ride for that area.

I’ll never forget my first visit to GE last June walking into the village area from the Critter Country/ ROTR side. Went in expecting this glorious land. The disappointment started on the ROTR ride when I realized it wasn’t this meandering path thru a lush forest with an X wing perched cliff side above. Then as I waited for redemption on the village side I because utterly confused as I kept being greeted with shut door after shut door.

I am looking forward to riding ROTR again. I wanna give it a fair shake. First time I rode it it was definitely not in ideal conditions.

Has anyone ever thought that the bantha ride might’ve just completely sucked? An extremely slow moving and low capacity ride, that would’ve used trackless animatronics as vehicles, sounds like a very risky waste of money that would’ve eaten into the budget for the rest of the land.

It also reminds me of those elephant rides at the circus which I disliked.

Even if it sucked it would have added much needed kinetic energy. The horse drawn street cars aren’t exactly a must ride but they add something to the environment.

So do you like what we got better in that area instead? Nothing?

I’d take a speeder bike themed motocoaster! Long before we knew about a bantha ride, there was the concept art for it. Based on that picture I always assumed the animal would be part of an interactive experience, not a ride, but similar to the triceratops at Universal Studios.

Well the layout of the land would’ve been fairly different because the bantha ride was cut early on in the process. And I doubt it would’ve come at the expense of nothing. Heck I’m still waiting for the restaurant.

Hey maybe it would’ve been fantastic, I’ll never know, but that’s the viewpoint I’ve always heard on here so I thought I’d mention my opposite one. If Luigi’s Flying Tires had been cut, I wonder if people would be wishing it was built, not knowing the $100 million dollar waste it turned out to be.

I wish it was back, I liked it more than its replacement. It would bottom out if you leaned too much, I think that’s where the learning curve stemmed from for day playing guests. You could tell who had an AP

I guess it’s just hard for me to see what else of value they could have cut from the land. Some rock work? A poorer ride experience on Falcon or ROTR? Ronto’s? There’s not too much I like about the land and it’s really lacking kinetic energy so I feel that whatever else was cut (if anything) would not have been as valuable to me personally as that bantha mover. Outside of them taking that 100 million out of ROTR, Id roll the dice on the bantha mover.

Hindsight is 20/20 of course but I think a bantha mover to GE is much more valuable than Luigis to Cars Land.

Luigi's Rollickin' Roadsters is my favorite ride at California Adventure. A Disney park needs smaller, more charming attractions to fill it out. I'm not sure the bantha ride would have solved it, but Galaxy's Edge needs more going on..

I agree with the sentiment but wow favorite? It’s cute to look at it but I find them a tad underwhelming. Wish there was a little more spinning etc.

Luigi's is fun and adds great kinetic energy to the land-something not to be dismissed from modern Disney, who often neglects kinetics.

However, I agree with many others that it's more fun to watch than it is to ride, which is not the hallmark of a great attraction.

How about an Autopia-like ride themed to podracers. Family friendly, kinetic energy, life.... It could include some animatronic Tusken raiders and/or Jawas in the background. Heck, I'd even take Ewoks and Porgs. haha...
That is an amazing simple and elegant idea for an attraction. We could be driving land speeders that look like they are hovering. Why the imagineers can think in simpler terms is beyond me. Carsland was suppose to have something like that for phase 2 but never happen along with the drive in dinner. Not everything has to be a 200 million dollar extravaganza.

It's silly and such a contrast with everything else, that I love it. That said, I've never spent a full day at DCA. I've always park hopped.
