Oh, when I was there on Monday I noticed Rosita was broken.

Just a silent, motionless bird sitting there. It was nice since her spiel was annoying- but it was weird they didn't add a cover over it or something.

So, the tech outage has impacted Disneyland. My friend said they're using cash control procedures they haven't used in a decade.
Well we know they use that C64 for selling annual passes and Halloween parties.

Actual shot of Disneyland's IT department.

From today. Didn't see any in the wild to take their picture.

Nice.

I should however point out that REAL New England lobster rolls, at least here in the Boston area, do NOT have ‘seasoned lobster with chopped celery, onions, and chives.
Nope.
Nada.

They DO however have buttered rolls…
Actually , top sliced hot dog buns.
Not those crazy ‘Coney Island’ style horizontally cut hot dog buns.
And absolutely slathered in butter.
Slathered!!
And toasted to a nice brown crisp.

Do they cost the same? I spent some time in Boston but lobster rolls were not in my budget at the time.

First time in Disneyland. Where is the best place to view the fireworks?

Where the Starbucks is on Main Street.

If you hang around there. They eventually set up ropes to create a crossing, and you can get right behind the rope, and then you have no one in front of you. Just look on the ground for the holes they put the bars in, you’ll know where to be.

Perfect spot.

I think we got there around… 8:45, just sorta hovered around; and when they setup the rope, we got a perfectly centred spot.

I have to say, is it me? Or is everything about Disneyland just better?

My sister went with her husband and three kids (11-16) this past April for the first time. We're in the NYC-area and have gone to Florida since the 1970s as our mom had an aunt there and my parents liked Disney. She's continued as an adult and usually goes every two years with her family and our mom. The first day at Disneyland she texted to say how much they all loved it and how her husband doesn't understand why they have to go to Florida ever again. 😄

Honestly, I’ve probably been too WDW over 50 times in the last 15 years. I’ve always heard on these forums how superior DL is and I would always eye roll. Now having been there, I really understand why. With any of the shared rides, DL has the superior version. And with some, it isn’t even close.

Average price comparison to Disneyland’s version, but the really good and FULL lobster rolls here in Boston can cost around $25 now.
But those are the nicely made ones that are very full of lobster and no ‘fillers’ like lettuce, celery, or onions.
Just straight up giant chunks of lobster meat with tasty mayo on a hot buttered yet crispy good
bun….
Oooohhhh yeaaahhh!

This is probably making @TP2000 hungry now!

TP, I am coming back to CA in September!!
Meet me at the exit of the arrival curbside pick up area at SNA and I will bring you a fresh one from Legal Seafoods in my mini cooler!!

Deal!

I thought of you again today; I hosted a brunch with a gaggle of like minded gentlemen. I did the usual brunch fare buffet-style on the patio, and the make your own Bloody Mary bar was the focal point. (And really the only way to get a few of those old queens out in public by Noon.) But using that San Diego Lobster Roll recipe I told you about last week, I did a platter of small two-bite sized lobster rolls in buttered mini-brioche buns. And yes, there was nothing in them except giant chunks of fresh chilled lobster meat, dressed with lemon zest and mayo, and some finely diced chives for color.

I got raves.

Or more accurately, the mini lobster rolls got raves. I can only credit my time in New England for that hosting triumph.

You should have seen it pre-Covid and pre-California shutdown for 13 months. Back when the CM's didn't have tats and greasy hair and biker beards and they still had some standards.

It was a world of difference back then. But I'm glad to hear there's still a noticeable difference, even with the newly lowered standards that TDA has purposely implemented to widen the labor pool and depress wages.

Oh, my dear lady. The next time you get to New England, you need to budget an extra $50 for a lobster roll.

Not because a lobster roll costs $50; a good one is around $20 or $25. But because once you've had one you will want a second.

In the meantime, do like I do and do some YouTube research to try to recreate them here in the Pacific time zone. You won't be sorry. Pair it with some chilled Chardonnay or a Sauvignon Blanc. And just indulge yourself. You deserve it!

Lol, not sure if I'll ever make it back. Coincidentally, the rolls were featured last night in an America's Test Kitchen episode and looked delicious. Don't think I could kill a lobster though.

I wasn't exactly a starving student at the time thanks to a meal plan, but my discretionary income was more Dunkin' donut holes than lobster rolls.

We usually wind up here once a trip:
James Hook & Co

Very good, but certainly not cheap.
