With all the drought discussion I thought this was very interesting. The orange county water district deserves more credit

No kidding. They are truly great. A brilliant strategy, and one that allows OC to have minimal impacts from the regular California swings from wet to drought to back again every few years. The water retention/transfer ponds are in north Anaheim.

I got my water from them when I lived in OC (obviously), and even during the big droughts of '13-'15 and '21-'22 we had almost no water restrictions to deal with. They did send us a flier with some tips on how to save water (fix leaky faucets, replace toilets over 25 years old, etc.) but we didn't have to bother with the water restrictions many other counties had to.

A very wise and well managed public utility system in Orange County. 😍

My only complaint was that like much of California, the water was so darn hard. In the 30 years I lived in my OC home, I went through 3 different water softening systems for the house. And even then, had to serve hundreds of gallons of Pellegrino at dinner parties over those decades. Really, really hard water. :(

I shouldn't be so surprised, but gosh, it's not even September.

What's disappointing is that it's becoming harder and harder to visit Disneyland and have it simply be 'Disneyland' without some sort of seasonal or promotional decor.

I love Main street when it has the traditional American Flag decor- everything else is garish and detracts. Except for some of the Christmas stuff, but even that has become overdone.

Agreed. Epcot is the worst of all Disney parks in this regard.
As far as pushing each holiday so early, I think Disney is banking on the fact people are always needing to celebrate something to break them out of the monotony of life. And satisfy short attention spans for a profit.

This is by far my least favorite time of year at Disneyland. Mid August through late September. 100 degree days, pumpkins everywhere and snow/ Skellington at the Haunted Mansion. Makes no sense.

But to me, going to the parks is breaking out of the monotony of life, and if anything, seasonal decorations are just a reminder of regular life. Aside from Cars Land Halloween I’ve never been a fan of any decorations.

Including, but not limited to, Starbucks, Disney plush/toys/etc clogging up aisles, various foods and cuisines, pretty areas, ugly areas, benches, lights, electricity, cars on roads, trains, etc.
Right. Horses, ducks, having a Coke, waiting in lines, bathrooms, popcorn, strollers, etc. How fake does it have to be? How much of reality has to be warped for it to truly be considered an escape?

Mickey Pumpkin is up. 100th bunting is gone.
Is it just me or shouldn't the Walt Disney Company's 100th anniversary have been a bigger celebration? Like a global celebration of 100 years of the company? Like....100 is a big milestone. It really felt like they didn't care and was a nothingburger to them. Yeah, they had some merch and some stuff at DLR, but I would have thought somehow it would have been more. If anything, it seemed like this year had the most refurbs, ride closures, walls, construction, etc. for it being a celebration year.

IDK, maybe it is just me.

I reserved October 16 just in case they decide to do anything at the parks to honor the 100th, but I doubt it.

Hearing from the grapevine that fluffernutter churros are back at DCA, and the world rejoices. Also I think there's a Coffee and Donuts churro by Redwood Creek? I'll check them out this weekend to confirm.

Maybe you need to see it in person?

I've never seen drones used before... and saw the drone show at Disneyland Paris, was blown away.
Maybe. It looks flat and dull on camera. Regardless, I can't imagine drones being better than a 45' animatronic dragon. If that ended up being Murphy's replacement, it would surely feel cheap and a let down. I stand firm that they either need to bring back a dragon of the same caliber or end Fantasmic entirely.

It feels like it's both inundated everywhere and then also...not done nearly enough.
