The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Come on now. A lot of these male MUAs are doing it way better than the girlies.

Would absolutely take my daughter to that CM, if I had one.
I was just gonna say that their eyeshadow and highlight popped. You're in good hands with them as the make up artist, I'm sure.

I don’t even drink. I do all the same things. I just think dudes in mustaches n makeup in are creepy and have no place in Disneyland.
What's creepy about it? Why doesn't it belong in Disneyland?

Id even go as far as to say if I happened to get that guy(?) helping my daughter I probably wouldn’t even complain to not embarrass him but that doesn’t mean I’m going to pretend that it’s something I want to see at Disneyland.

You tried to tell me to man up, not the other way around. You aren’t 4, you don’t need explain yourself to me I was just returning the energy you were bringing and placing emphasis on how silly you sound saying that. It’s almost like you started saying bro to sound more masculine, which is the silly stuff I’m talking about. There are stronger qualities to being a man than putting down others constantly.

I have no problem with the mustache critique. If you haven’t noticed someone else made it and I respect that opinion. I’ll speak up when things start sounding bigoted & hateful. You used the word disgusting. You seem to like throwing around hateful words then pulling your feet out the water to seem like a decent guy. So I get very confused with you. But I think you’re very clear today, wish you the best at Knotts

It does look disgusting. My visceral reaction is to be repulsed by it. What can I do about that? And trust me I’m not trying to appear masculine to faceless strangers on the internet. I wanted to say some other things to you but I don’t want to get kicked off this forum. But I’m pretty close to not caring about that either.

I can’t guys. Let’s just say we’ll never see eye to eye on this and Disneyland I guess just isn’t for me anymore. I’m hoping this is some weird phase and that they reel it back in a little.

Two years ago, this would never have been allowed at Disneyland. This still wouldn't be allowed at most places in America. Disney has changed their policies in regards to CM conduct and appearance significantly in a very short time.

Well I’ll just say if you put negative or hateful response out there, don’t be shocked if you hurt some people. Every man, human, child should know that one for sure. It’s crazy how comfortable some of y’all get hurting people & being hateful just because you don’t agree. But I will digress, don’t want to get kicked off either.

When I see a man with a mustache in makeup in a dress I don’t see someone being their authentic self. I see a confused person looking for attention who is perhaps mentally ill. I’m not sure why this is being celebrated. Why not go all the way and transition into a “female” then? Why the mustache? What are they trying to prove?

That person doesn’t looked confused. They look like a fully-functioning adult being very friendly and doing his job. You sound like the only confused one honestly, which is fine but don’t claim he is. He’s a man with a mustache and likes makeup, what’s not to get? Is everyone who throws makeup on their face supposed to claim their trans or something? I’m confused off of your confusion. Sounds like your rabbithole’ing to throw more insults

Let go of the gender binary. Men have been wearing dresses while sporting make-up for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Mentally ill? Why would he transition to a female simply because he likes to wear make-up? Men and women are not tied to their genders. The only thing that CM is likely trying to prove is he’s proud of who he is.

This sounds like paranoia.

I don’t know. Am I crazy? Is this what happens to old people when the world changes?

You’re not crazy. You’re deeply, deeply tied to the gender binary. There’s nothing sick or wrong about a man wearing a dress and heels. There’s nothing sick wrong about a woman wearing a 3-piece suit. They are clothes. A tie doesn’t make a man a man and a dress doesn’t make a woman a woman.

Now, do we know they identify as a he? I think we should be respectful and not make any assumptions about them. They are wearing the women's costume.

We're only saying he because of the mustache, a traditionally male trait. Which means this person might have been mis assigned as a male at birth.

So I would make the argument that anyone here referring to them as a 'he' is, in fact, tied to the gender binary. I think we definitely have a long way to go when discussing this stuff, but unless anyone knows the Cast Member and how they identify, we shouldn't assign any pronouns.

Ok well let’s say I could come around on that. I don’t think Disneyland or the Cinderella boutique is the right place for that man to be employed. And I’m really curious to see how this plays out for Disney. They seem to be really crossing the line in certain areas.

I mean, if you grew up around punk or metal folks you wouldn’t think this was weird either. It just really is about perspective. At least that’s the best way I can try to find an example. But makeup for some is just strictly a feminine thing, so your thinking isn’t crazy. I like a lot of your posts I just feel like you become very mean when you don’t understand something. Even how you’re presenting your thoughts now are totally different and I would have been a lot nicer. We all question our sanity but we should question why we let small things drive us crazy. Especially when there is good energy & no harm presented.
