As much as I’m able to process and understand that MagicBands are not very useful at DL I still want one just for the feeling of pressing it against one of those tap things dammit! I kind of threw a feeler out with my wife and group we were with Monday and nobody seemed interested. Had I been met with the slightest bit of interest or enthusiasm I probably would have bought three for the fam. And this just might be the conspiracy theorist in me but I could swear that ticket bar codes on the app were giving me a harder time than usual on Monday when trying to scan onto rides.

This is just Disney Marketing at its best. Doctor Who has always had "global appeal", it just wasn't always available in all broadcast markets. Moving it to D+ outside of the UK brings it to a worldwide audience that might have never seen it before.
Older seasons were played on syndication on Disney XD as well, merchandise for it has been sold for years in the UK Pavilion at Epcot. This isn’t unprecedented imo

Oh jeez. It's almost 2am, I'm finishing my nightcap, and I just found some hilarious Galactic Starcruiser photos of the CM's who work on that failing Star Wars hotel thing. God love 'em, management's failure is not their fault, but it's still funny...

Welcome aboard Earthlings! We hope you've been flossing!

(And again I say, look at that crew with an average age of 20. How many of those CM's do you think are professionally trained and experienced in high end hospitality at a 5 star hotel that charges $750+ per night? Versus how many of these CM's just had decent attendance records and were bored with their old Adventureland shifts so they put in for a transfer?)

Even other galaxies have lazy hipsters. Fathers of Earth, don't let this guy near your daughter!

Nope, not at all creepy. It's fine. Honestly. She's the captain. Not creepy at all. It's fine.

I do not want Disney getting their grubby mouse mitts on The Great British Baking Show.
I sure wish someone would get their hands on it and release more of those older episodes. Netflix had some, but even that has been cut back. DVDs of the earliest seasons are going for $100-$200 on Ebay.

Did Disney acquire the show's production company? Did they buy another thing?

(In fairness, I don't think the show's *quite* running in peak mode right now. Not that I think that Disney would make it better if it got control, but y'know.)

Right now, ALL of the old Seasons with the original hosts and Mary Berry are streaming free on the Roku Channel. There are brief commercial interruptions, but it's free (and you don't need a roku to access the channel) and there's content that has never been legally available for the US before, including Series 1 & 2, the ONLY Christmas specials with the original host/judge combo, and a lot of the celebrity/charity one-off episodes.

Not sure if this is still the case, but I was able to find PBS DVDs of the seasons I wanted to purchase for affordable prices last year. I believe on the PBS website.

If only I knew anything at all about Roku. Lol.

Looks like I could watch with a smart TV, unfortunately ours are all pretty dumb. ;) We can apparently watch them online, but I watch with my daughter so not sure if we'd sit down around the computer.

Thanks for the info though. I'll ask my kids if they have suggestions.

Watching on a computer screen is definitely sub-optimal. That said, if you had a way to access Netflix other than a computer, I'd imagine you could probably access the Roku Channel the same way.

Yes, please! Although I love the chemistry between the current Judges and hosts, each of those missing seasons had their own equally fun personalities and great moments. When Netflix lost the rights to the early seasons, I nearly cried. What the heck is it about this show that’s so endearing? I’ve NEVER loved a food-oriented show to this extent before. I actually bought the soundtrack on iTunes! :D

We watch Netflix through our xfinity platform. But I’m not seeing Roku listed as one of their options. I texted my daughter at school though and she’s pretty excited. So I think we will have to find a way. I really appreciate the heads up.

I hate cooking. I hate baking. Never loved cooking shows. But we love this one. And my daughter and I now bake. Lol.

We got addicted during the pandemic. We found it at just the right time.

You can buy a Roku Express HD for $30. They regularly go on sale for $20. They’re tiny little things so they’re great for traveling and even have a hotel mode to set it up places that require you to sign in to the WiFi network.
