I don't hate this idea necessarily, but that's basically what Mermaid is and people do nothing but complain about that.

This would be much different. Much more cinematic. Think Animation Building Lobby: The Ride. Circle Vision meets Soarin meets Philharmagic 2.0. I think this attraction would be better suited as a screen ride.

Their are so many great classic Disney songs. It would be great to get to hear/ watch them all on a ride as opposed to the same few you hear during spectaculars that you watch on tired legs after a very long day amongst a bunch of people fighting for a spot.

Then the complaints will be that it's too cheap and that it's just another screenz ride and proof that Disney's just becoming another Universal wannabe. Or man, Disney can't handle that Soarin' had non-Disney things in it so they had to add an IP to that too?!?!?!?

And inevitably the songs they would include in such a ride would be identical to the nighttime spectacular playlist anyway.

Ok I’ll tell them not to do it then. They wanted me throw out a feeler.

You know how it is though, people complain about everything. If they built a 1:1 clone of DisneySea in the Toy Story parking lot someone would find some way to whine about it.

"I LOVED the Toy Story Lot, I felt existentially validated by parking under the Mr. Potato Head sign each time I went, how dare you Disney!" etc.

Speaking of Tokyo Disney, I was just looking at the prices of their parks out of curiosity. For a one day, one park ticket, the costs range from $60 to $70. And they're still the best Disney parks in the world. Insane.

There’s truth here, but, on the other hand, Disney truly has given fans significant reasons to complain lately. The park experience really is getting worse. And worse.

I’d be on board with this as long as it was made up of really creative, fantastic reworkings of the songs (much like Pink Elephants in Fantasmic). I don’t want Disney Sing-Along Songs: The ride. I want something so fun and fresh that I’d want to buy the ride’s soundtrack CD.

I see where you re coming from. I’d be ok with that for some of the songs that lend themselves for a good remix. Maybe a mix of Both.

Submitted my panel preferences for the D23 Expo this afternoon. Honestly am kind of glad they're doing this system; I really wasn't looking forward to waking up super early to vie for a spot in the main hall, so this is a good compromise and I can get the heartbreak out of the way before I get to the convention center.

On an unrelated note, anyone know if we can park at Toy Story for the expo, and is that worth it? I saw on Google Maps it's about a 10 minute walk away but didn't know how practical that 10 minutes was.

Fake grass sighting in Town Square. This makes me sad. Fake grass makes me sad. I’d be ok with it in Toontown but in Town Square I don’t like it. I’d hate to start seeing this everywhere or in places like the Mickey planter in front of the train station. I will say that it’s some of the better fake grass I’ve seen. Hopefully this is a one off or used in very select places. Don’t like the precedent though.

Given California's water situation, I think any water wasted on grass is just dumb. I am fine with this move, and it looks like a great product they installed.

If they wanted to plant something, should be using more drought-tolerant grass alternatives like microclover, white clover, creeping red fescue, ryegrasses and sedges.

Can’t wait for the drought tolerant Mickey face planter

Disneyland is a theme park and an escape. I think small little planters hardly taking up any water and that are in the shade a majority of the day should be exempt.

I will never support grass, it's dumb. Green lawns are dumb in summer / drought season. Dumb dumb dumb.

Replace it all with fake grass, prioritize flowers / pollinators / trees.

Oh so you re ok with them putting real grass back the other 3 seasons?

I mean, if the environment allows for it with no watering needed. Don't think that would work in Cali with the little rain you get.

My preferred method:

If you have grass, let it go yellow in summer. Then let nature take care of it the rest of the year.

Yeah that doesn’t really work around here.

TBH, if you didn't tell me that was fake grass in the pics I wouldn't have noticed. Maybe it is more pronounced in person, but I still think seeing it out of the corner of your eye you wouldn't be able to tell.

Probably not especially with a gazillion people around and other things competing for your attention. Still don’t like the precedent being set.
