Does anyone know anything about the Halloween Tree in Frontier Land? I know Ray Bradbury loved Disneyland, so I'd hope it was a reference to him. Something Wicked This Way Comes is one of my all time fave live action Disney movies.(he also wrote the screen play )
Someone else probably knows the whole story, but I'm pretty use it is related to Ray Bradbury.

Many years ago a friend and I were admiring it. 2 cast members were standing by it and we started talking about Something Wicked This Way Comes. They helped me remember details then gave me an Honorary Citizen button to which they added Spirited Storyteller. They invited us to come back about a half an hour before closing for more storytelling but sadly we weren't able to make it.

There is (or was) a Bradbury plaque there.

I LOVE the movie. Bradbury wrote the screen play for it, and said he liked it better than the book. It's my autumn 🍂 movie 🎬 🎞. I love reading about Bradbury talking about how much even his jaded self loved Disneyland
I'll have to check that out also. I love many of his books. (admittedly, it's been years since I've read any of them)

Currently waiting for TCM's 100th Anniversary of Fleischer Animation to begin in a few minutes (8:00pm EST). The first night will kick off with an hour long documentary on the early years of Animation (Silent Animation) followed by 2 hours of old school cartoons of the 1920s and 1930s. Hope somebody is watching this for those curious on the history of animation. Especially from the pre-Mickey Mouse period.

OK, this is the Miscellaneous Thought Thread, right? So we can discuss Disney trivia?
I think I just read the most obscure Disney trivia ever. On History.com, there was an article: 9 Unexpected Things Navy SEALs Discovered in Osama bin Laden's Compound.
They found films of Cars, Chicken Little and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. He had four kids under the age of 10. I don't know the connection with WDW's 50th, but I'll keep looking. ;)

It is entirely possible that Osama bin Laden visited Walt Disney World. His brother Kahlil owned a mansion in Orange County that he used as a vacation home from the early 1980s until 2001.

....Bradbury wrote the screen play for it, and said he liked it better than the book...
Okay, gotta raise a red flag on this. Bradbury’s book is a masterpiece. The movie turned out...okay. Bradbury was not completely happy with the finished film, and wanted some more of it to be reshot, which the studio would not allow (they had already reshot a poorly-executed scene (a giant hand) with a quick replacement (the tarantulas) and would not allow further reshoots.

Now it’s possible that Bradbury at one point while promoting the film, said he liked his original screenplay more than his book, but that’s not what ended up on screen.

The film of Something Wicked This Way Comes is a heartfelt, flawed good try at bringing the book to life, but the book is a hundred times better. Much scarier and more emotional, too.

Really enjoyed TCM's marathon of old Fleischer Cartoons and animated shorts of the 1920s and 1930s. They had an opening introduction for each short and the "Cartoon Carnival" documentary explaining how innovative and experimental the Fleischers were during the earliest days of animation. Looking forward to the second part of the 100th Anniversary Marathon next Saturday. Hope somebody else checked that out.

I am not planning on ever going to Disney World, since the Tokyo versions of the same attractions are vastly superior and actually kept up, but I cannot get over how spoiled we are at Disneyland in so many ways, because of the theming and facades of attractions, especially in Fantasyland, are vastly superior, and don't feel like cheap afterthroughts. I know that New Fantasyland is much to thank for this, but I can't help thinking that the Toyko exteriors, though largely the same, don't look anywhere near half as cheaply made. Like, wow, Magic Kingdom, get it together! Tokyo has all 4 seasons, is just as humid, if not more, --there's no real excuse!

The only problem is they don’t have any Epcot or Animal Kingdom attractions which is worth it

So that's the strange man I got stuck on Horizons with...

You might not thought he was strange at the time. Here's a picture of him when he attended Oxford enjoying the very society he would hate in the future. Can you guess which one is him without cheating?
