I agree, this is one of the sounds that’s become part of DL’s soul. Jack Wagner was amazing. And if I’m remembering correctly from Passport to Dreams Old and New, he recorded all his wonderful park announcements from his home recording studio.

Disney should create an in-park tribute exhibit to the voices of Disneyland: Jack, Thurl Ravenscroft, Paul Frees, Wally Boag, J. Pat O’Malley, Dal McKennon...

But, of course, Disney Execs are too busy playing with their Spiderman action figures.
If they make it they will sell it as an AP EXCLUSIVE CD for $49.99 plus AP discount.

One amazingly talented person is using Planet Coaster to design stage sets. Here’s his model for the set of Les Mis:

Me, I painted my Bumper Cars purple and put four hippos on the roof.

What are the chances that Disney will ever fix the old Tomorrowland Observatron? It’s certainly one of the most underrated aspects of the entire park itself, and adds kinetic energy to the current motionless Tomorrowland we have. It would certainly be a treat if they fix it over quarantine and surprise us with it once the park reopens!

It’ll happen when they remove the rotting Peoplemover tracks. So, maybe 2045.

Haha! I do wonder if the peoplemover tracks are part of the reason it doesn’t operate anymore. I’m sure OSHA had major issues with it, and deemed it unsafe to operate, even if the structure itself is stationary. Bottom line, is that it’s sitting on and around a rotting structure.

What would OSHA take issue with? Amusement parks are full of moving machinery. The Observatron is the skeleton of the Rocket Jets, a ride system that exists elsewhere in the park. If the structure were actually rotting and considered hazardous that would be an issue for Anaheim, not the state, and the people would not be allowed near it.

All great points here. I guess I never really considered this when typing the last post. I’m assuming it’s no longer operating today mainly due to upkeep issues. They probably don’t see it as something worth maintaining, since it’s no longer an attraction, but rather a showpiece. It’s a shame it’s no longer operational, I loved the scores that came with each show every 15 minutes.

I remember it. it turned into a church.

Melodyland Christian Center - Wikipedia

>>Melodyland Christian Center was a church in Anaheim, California, that was located a short distance east of the Disneyland Resort. The Melodyland Theater and surrounding campus started as a theater in the round and later became an evangelical Christian church. Pastor Ralph Wilkerson took a musical theater and turned it into one of the largest (at the time) and most influential churches in the Evangelical or Charismatic/Pentecostal community.

The Melodyland theater and all the buildings on the church campus were demolished in 2003. Part of the Anaheim GardenWalk was later built on the site. Incidentally, the spot where the main Theater (or Sanctuary for the church) was located is the spot where the relocated House Of Blues Anaheim is (formerly the movie theaters) at GardenWalk.<<

This came up in Conversation with my Wife, and I made her watch it!

And while in a Christmas Mood, my wife wanted a second tree just for our Peanuts Ornaments. We came across some 4-5 Foot Trees at Costco, and she picked one out. When we got home and opened it up, well, while it came with a small stand/water bowl, it was crooked, and couldn't stand up on its own.

Well, we talked about returning it for a new one, but I have seen "A Charlie Brown Christmas" so many times, I decided to figure out how to keep it. I basically screwed the plastic stand onto a pair of wooden boards, which kept the tree from falling. Well, it is leaning, but looks good in our Family Room.

And our main tree.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!

View attachment 519488I’m working at Mount St. Mary’s today which is a beautiful campus right near USC that apparently used to be millionaire row a very long time ago. Anyway, what’s up with all these Mystic Manor-y looking houses around USC

My Alma mater! I graduated from the Mount in 2015, but my primary campus was Chalon. I worked at both campuses at one point though.

As you stated, those homes belonged to rich folks back in the day. Have you seen the huge mansion on campus? Hopefully you’ll be able to go in there. It’s stunning. It’s too bad they don’t make homes like that anymore.

The Princess Diaries was shot at Doheny (the campus you’re currently at).
