The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

I’m very mixed about this. It’s definitely copying Cuphead very much and it’s not like Cuphead is need of a spiritual successor, it just released two years ago with DLC on the way. But, I do think there are some creative bosses here.

Animation ain’t great either compared to Cuphead with animation that looks Flash quality (but Cuphead had Microsoft funding it so...).

I feel the same way. The two hero characters look ultra-generic and don't match the style of the rest of the game (which is basically a complete Cuphead imitation) and the slapstick timing is awful... UNTIL we get to the boss battles, and they all look.... well, like great, imaginative ripoffs of Cuphead bosses. The octopus stole the show for me. I'll probably buy it, especially if the tunes are good, but... c'mon developers, it's fine to follow Cuphead's lead in paying tribute to the Fleischer Bros., but couldn't you have made the gameplay itself just a BIT less like a shameless Cuphead clone?!?

Speaking of Cuphead DLC, y'know what I want from Cuphead DLC? A super-easy mode. I'm TERRIBLE at Cuphead! :D

An ad for one of these showed up on my browser in this forum. I was actually thinking of buying one for my cats, but then I remembered what happens to mice when they stumble while running in excercise wheels...

This game is to Cuphead what Snow Queen is to Frozen. Aka, the Wal-Mart version your parents inadvertently buy you because its similar enough and they're not paying attention.

is it Utah week at DLR this week? Is that why it’s so busy. I saw BTMRR had an 80 min wait earlier. Yikes.

EDIT: looks like it is. Well looks like I’m canceling my Saturday reservation.

I like fantasy. I like animation. I usually like Pixar. But the new full trailer for "Onward" does nothing for me. It looks obnoxious. I'm feeling nothing for the characters. The idea of fantasy characters living in the modern world just lends itself to a lot of mundane settings. The BIG PLOT POINT about the two brothers going on an adventure with just the lower half of their father is...just....eeeew.

I hoping I'm wrong. But so far I'm seeing zero charm in this. Maybe it was just a poor choice of tone for the trailer. Maybe?

Remember when Universal announced "Universal Beijing" years ago? Well they just released a sneak peek of the Seven Lands today.

Glad it has HTTYD. I’m predicting the hinted dueling coaster at Epic Universe will be Night Fury vs. Light Fury.

I’m amazed Universal can’t think of a single hit movie to retheme the big water stunt show around.

The YouTube channel Gamexplain has just posted a terrific video detailing how the 12 principles of animation from Frank n’ Ollie’s The Illusion of Life are applied in Nintendo’s Super Smash Brothers game to aid in appeal, clarity and impact. First of a series focusing on the game’s top-notch character animation—Definitely worth a watch! :)

I love starting a research paper on a topic I'm interested in (in this case, the role of evangelical Christians in the abolition movement) several weeks before the paper is even due. What a great feeling! And I have a long weekend coming up to write the entire thing as well as begin research on my second paper due the following week.

But people still love Waterworld, even in other countries like Singapore and even kids who were never alive when the movie was released.

Splash and boom works well enough that the show doesn't really need a new movie tie-in. IMO. It's far more hilarious to still have it based on one of cinema's most infamous flops.

It may have been a flop but it's not a bad movie.
