The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

They have enough room for both Nintendo and E.T.

Nintendo isn't remotely related to Universal Studios.
I think this whole unexpected teamup started because of Universal Studios Japan, which also has attractions like Space Fantasy: The Ride. Hey, as long as I get to ride Mario Kart, I'd go even if it was built in Hard Rock Park... if that was still an existing thing...

You know they'll just be screen rides. Might as well just play the video games.
Not all screens, which is the good news if rumors and patents are true. Mario Kart will apparently combine screens with sets, controllable motion vehicles, a centrifuge and AR (for the weapons and cartoon effects). Donkey Kong is an indoor mine cart coaster where the real tracks are hidden far below you as you follow visible fake tracks full of gaps you have to "jump." And Yoshi is supposed to be a full- fledged dark ride with AA figures and real sets. Fingers crossed.

Wow these sound amazing. Are these only for Japan or also for Orlando?

If there's anyone who loves the ET ride more than @Kira Nerys it's Steven Spielberg. He collects 2% of ticket revenue and 5.25% of concessions from Universal Orlando and Japan or something crazy like that. But if he decides to pull out, Universal will have to pay him a billion or so upfront with some other consequences that I guess they don't want. And apparently he's threatened to pull out if they replace the ET ride. Super Nintendo World is being built adjacent.

This isnt going to be like The Simpsons where they hyped it up to be something awesome and then it ends up being the worst thing in the world, is it?

No definite reveal yet, though the general feeling is Orlando has room on its chosen site for all 3 rides. I wouldn't be surprised if Hollywood just gets Mario Kart, but I hope I'm wrong.

Me too. Getting even 2 of those 3 rides would make USH feel a lot different. Still a ways to go but would make a big difference.
