I am talking about Disney's choice to widen Alice in Wonderland's outdoor vine path instead of add railings to it. And how that would have looked better. It doesn't even look to be a vine anymore.
They widened it and added railings. I *think* some of the railings collapse until needed... I really don't know. You know I changed my mind: BOTH ride's railings/redos look like cr-p. Blackpool looks like a parking garage and Disneyland's railings/vine edges looks like a high school craft project.

I am not sure how I didn't notice previously, but there are some railings.

Hey! Watch it. If Fantasyland is the heart of Disneyland then Alice in Wonderland (and the tea cups) are the heart of Fantasyland. They are untouchable.

On another note, I notice Alice in Wonderland never gets the “classic” treatment on any of the Disney movie collections. Probably because Walt came out and said he regretted making it.

Oh, I agree. In fact, Alice in Wonderland is my favorite dark ride and one of my very favorite rides in any park. It's also my favorite Disney film despite (or because of) its flaws. Those giant Mary Blair leaves outside the ride are awesome and the caterpillars are my favorite ride vehicles!

I'm only referring to the safety "enhancements" foisted on the ride a few years ago. Especially the swirls on the edge of the downramp. High. School. Craft. Project. :D They can do better than that. Sure, it looks better than the temp fences and tarps, but... Man, the ride's exterior used to be prettier... Like THIS...

Alice before the fences.

Much better without the fences! I vaguely remember how it used to be.

I totally get where you re coming from. I was joking but my fondness for Alice and the teacups is real. And yes the Mary Blair leaves are one of my favorite sights at Disneyland. Alice is also my favorite dark ride and the caterpillar vehicles are also my favorite vehicles at the park. Then you have that beautiful ficus tree with the Matterhorn looming and the Tea Cups next door with those lanterns. Possibly my favorite area in the park. The whole area is as close to untouchable as it gets for me at DL.

Side note: I miss hearing that loud yeti roar near the Alice bathrooms.

Rode Roger last week for the first time in almost a year. Such a good dark ride. It’s something that wouldn’t have a chance in hell of being built today and that makes me like it more. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that it’s based on maybe my favorite movie of all time. I really hope that it survives whatever plans for Toontown exist.

This set from 2004 was pretty good:

It contained a lot (but not all) of the bonus material from the *outstanding* laser disc box set (yeah, I collected Laser Discs). This DVD set is worth picking up if you can get if for a decent price!
Alice in Wonderland has aged very well as a film. All its flaws (little emotion, no goal, episodic story) are still there, but the film's amazing visuals, crazy humor and excellent music just get better and better with time. I think it's more appreciated today than it's ever been before, which is awesome. But, yeah, it needs a proper special Blu-Ray release that includes ALL the previous bonus material and whatever else they've found in the meantime.

I have these two^^^. I bought the newer one because i needed to have a slip cover. So do these not include all bonus material? Alice isn’t my favorite as a movie as a whole but I love all of its different parts... characters, music and it’s weird/ dark/ zany qualities.

Just wondering. Did the de charm of the Matterhorn also somehow de-grade the taste of the Macaroons? Or did they bottle up some of the charm they took from the Matterhorn and throw it into the Macaroon batter?

I don't know. All I do know is it was better with the 70s chintzy charm. The glowing eyes, the fortress of solitude and the static yeti with a strobe light.

Just checked the bonus material, and your blu-ray has everything important and more. The only thing missing is the "Virtual Tea Party," which was just a half-hour sing-along video with a live Alice and Hatter.

About the only things still missing from the Laser Disc are a radio interview with Walt and an option to watch the film with just the music and effects track. You've got the best release so far.

Eh I dunno bout that. The lift hill is undoubtably Better now with the yeti behind the ice effect. The AAs are better now. I did like the old growl more and I’m not a huge fan of the pile of trash.
