Walt’s. For making the place so damn wonderful.

He created a cultural institution - especially for us here in Southern California.

No offense, and not to diminish Walt's contribution to Southern California's culture, but I'm pretty sure folks in Orlando say the same thing.

I don’t really know what the Orlando culture is like but I’ve never heard about it having nearly as strong a following with locals over there. Plus the fact that Walt built Disneyland, the Hyperion Studios and the Disney Studios being located in Burbank, Snow White premiering in Hollywood. Disney and Disneyland have a rich history here that goes way back.

One person certainly isn't representative of the majority, but I have a person on my team from the Midwest who argued with me that WDW opened before Disneyland did until I pulled up the facts on Google.

Hahah I remember that story but he’s from the mid West. I’m taking about Southern Californians.

Yup. As a native Californian it was kind of humbling actually, and helped put things in perspective for me. All but the most passionate Disney fans know or care about the importance of Disneyland in the evolution of theme parks.

I guess being the age that I am, I just remember being flooded with promotional media, retrospectively about the origins of Disneyland, and prospectively about the new park to come in Florida, that I forget that other people live with different life perspectives.

Sure this is also true but there’s no denying Disneyland’s presence and effect on the culture in So Cal. For a lot of us, our parents took us there once or more a year. Then we grew up, started making our own money, had kids of our own and they started to practicially give these APs away. (Let’s also not forget the strategic pricing to make day tickets least desirable and APs most desirable) So we bit. Now it’s getting to a point where it’s starting to diminish guest expirence at the park. So we’ll see what happens from here but it looks like they make be taking it more seriously considering the latest price hikes and whatever changes to the AP program they are cooking up in preparation for SWL.

Just move to SoCal and easily acquire an AP and go all the time like I did. Then one day, wake up and wonder what in God's name you're doing with your life...

E.T.'s on the other side of the country!

So are you saying you are 2 attractions closing away from death?
