What a day at Disneyland yesterday. Just came here to report that project stardust didn’t really kill any of the parks charm. Sure the curbs look better than a shaved slope and of course I’d rather have wider planters but being at the parks when it was so empty gave me a really good look at the park yesterday. Maybe ive gotten used to the changes and don’t have a side by side to analyze when I’m there, maybe it was just that it felt more like a real park when it isn’t packed to the gills or maybe they did a good job. Probably a little of all 3. Whatever it is, Disneyland charm was in full effect yesterday. Crowds are 1000% more detrimental to the park experience than anything they ve done with project stardust so far.

Oh ya, the castle looks great in person. Of course it helps that I was walking up Main Street during Golden Hour.

I think the charm is more easily visible when less people are around :)

Next you’re going to be saying Mission Breakout is better than ToT.

So what you're really saying is that Project Stardust is not the doom and gloom charm ending project that some were saying it was... ;)

How's Splash looking? Any changes since April? Is that owl at the end still playing it's audio?

I’m probably saying that unless I was just on a major high from the park being so empty.

Disclaimer - I’m referring to Town Square, the Hub, Fantasyland, Frontierland and Tomorrowland. Did not walk into Adventureland, NOS or Critter Country yesterday. With that said, I’m sure those changes weren’t too bad either except for the HM planter removal- that one is still a mistake IMO.

I never personally looked at the changes as doom and gloom @Disney Irish. For me it was more about what I perceived as the continual chipping away at the things that make Disneyland great. Individually most of the project stardust changes are a downgrade aesthetically. However none of them are great enough to change the park experience. A few like the HM planter I feel were unecessary and a little too much of an aesthetic downgrade. Also not liking what Peter pans exterior is looking like at the moment. It looks a little too bare when facing the castle ever since they removed that planter.

I guess you could take my report as the original Disneyland designers did such a great job with the park that it will take a lot more than Project Stardust to kill its charm. Like I said though, most of the changes were subtle and tasteful enough.

The sign looks too new and sticks out. They should’ve weathered it a little. Disney is great at making things look old and lived in. Guess they didn’t care enough.
