If I remember correct, each successive Star Wars film has had a decrease in merchandise sales under Disney. So there does seem to be some loss of interest in purchasing new stuff.
Most of it’s just poorly made, honestly, and not enough made of what people want. Give me some Kylo Ren, Rey, astromechs, Vader, Luke ROTJ, etc action figures with the quality they had in the early 2000s. Possible limbs and joints would be such an improvement. Oh, and actually good printing!

Yesterday was the first time I’ve seen merch in real life off Disney property in a long time. Porg related of course

Imagine if Cars Land had opened, but without RSR. You'd still get to see how great the area looks and visit the stores and other rides, but the overall impact would be been lessened.

That's what Disney has done with Galaxy's Edge IMO. Except there's a lot more Star Wars fans than Cars fans willing to visit the shops.

Too much competition; no one can buy stuff for *everything* they like. In 1977 there was nearly no movie or tv merch, and Star Wars made a fortune months later selling garbage-quality toys because it had the field to itself. Today, genre fans can buy stuff from Marvel, Tolkien, Stranger Things, Fortnite, Nintendo, Halo, Ducktales, DC, sports figures, and anything else that ends up represented by Funko Pop.

Since when is Elmo related to Disney?
He used to be a Muppet and he also teaches great tips on how not to **** on minimum wage employees dressed in a pirate costume!
Disney released several Sesame Street videos in the UK in the late 90s, including several Elmo ones. So Elmo is a UK cousin in the Disney family.... ;):p

I’d actually love to see Tim Burton remake any of these movies:

The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T
The Incredible Mr. Limpet
Abott & Costello’s Jack & the Beanstalk

That's true but also Hasbro's distribution to large retail stores has been terrible for the last ten years. The stores always get the first wave of crappy main character figures and then every other wave after that never shows up because the store over buys the first wave. Most collectors have gone online anyway while stuff at retail stores sits for years.

They’re still trying hard to sell Cassian Andor and Jyn Erso toys. Just melt em down at this point.
Along with all the Rays.

They are trying to get us better figures like the new vintage collection and 6" line but distribution has gotten worst under Disney. It's like they come out with product but they don't want to sell it to you.

Disney had a good thing going with Star Wars in Disney Infinity. The figures were appealing, with actual style and personality, and the Infinity SW games were very well done and enjoyable. But, of course, Infinity--though a success-- wasn't making *enough* money to please Iger and... *Chop*. "Disney Infinity" was "Disney Two-and-a-Half Years."

To be fair, the whole toy to game concept kind of imploded. However it was nice picking up Disney Infinity figures for five for a dollar towards the end of TRUs existence.
