Well, here I stand wearing an Orange Shirt, and attached to my UpWalker a large Orange lollipop sign. At least I have both a post and my Upwalker, plus my leg braces to hold me up. Just over 6 hours to go....

I have very fond memories of being on the incoming and outgoing side of LAX International. Though I have always known the other parties involved.

Oh totally. Spent many an afternoon bored to death waiting for family to arrive from Italy and see them walk up that ramp. Now that I’m an adult I wonder, why did my parents have to get to the airport 3 hours early to pick them up?

Haha no idea.

I'm thankful though that I remember a time pre 9/11 where non-flying people could go right up to the gate and wait there for you as you disembarked the plane. If not for that, I doubt my parents would have sent me to England by myself as a 9 year old.

Wow I thought my parents were cool for letting me go to Disneyland by myself when I was 10

I used to fly PSA from SAN to BUR on a regular basis when I was 10 alone.

My uncle lived in Burbank and I got shipped up so my parents got a weekend off. And of course, it worked the other way for my 3 nieces/nephews.

Never did it Internationally, it was Mom and I flying somewhere to visit wherever Dad was working.

God, I loved PSA for many reasons....

Its not about being thin-skinned, its about removing posts from my screen so its not clogged up by Trolls, at least for me that is the purpose of the Ignore feature.

No.
It’s definitely about being thin-skinned...
Trolls will always be there...it’s a given...just deal with it.

And the way to deal with it is to use the ignore feature. Its just a way to avoid the nuisance of them so they don't clog up the conversation.

As for me, if you knew me you would know its not thin-skinned. I can go on for pages and pages with troll on discussions just to have my fun with them.

How nice of Disney to title their big upcoming Galaxy’s Edge E-ticket ride so as to promote the new Dark Crystal Netflix series! :D
“Resistance” is such a dull, flimsy, colorless word to use in a ride or TV show title. It’s more like a word for a stain-protection product.

So getting back to 'Galaxy's Edge'....

I've been able to look over some of the assortment of photographs from the land tonight over at a Star Wars fan site ( rebelscum . com ) and what I'm seeing looks terrific.
I recommend taking a look at their collection of photos.

While I have yet to have personally set foot in the land physically and experienced it first hand, I do have some impressions gathered by just looking over the images and hearing from a few CMs.

My early thoughts are this -

It reminds me a lot of Disney's Animal Kingdom in some of the design work and materials used for constructing and embellishing the buildings and hardscape.
But it also reminds me of DAK in another way....early DAK, pre-expansion with Everest and later Pandora -

It's a lot of pretty eye candy, beautiful settings, lots of authentic details, but ( seemingly at this early stage ) little substance and little to do.
Lots of 'consumables' and too few 'observables' if that makes sense.

What I mean by that is there is a great effort focusing on the fun themed foods and merchandise....but seemingly less effort in regards to the entertainment offerings.
Yes, I'm aware of the entertainment cuts and the removal of the originally proposed dining show establishment, but something is 'missing'....and I'm not talking about the delayed RotR.

I think what is missing is more atmospheric elements.
This is 'Star Wars'.
It seems to me we should be seeing free roaming droids, various aliens or creatures roaming about ( as originally proposed ) and....well, more interactive elements.

The 'interactivity' of the land was hyped up and anticipated by many.
Even the early press releases when the land was announced talked about such elements regarding the outcome of your skill on the Falcon Attraction, 'bargaining' with Dok in his den, 'interactive' Force infused lightsabers interacting with elements within the land, and the like.
Perhaps these elements will come to be at a later stage, but it's a element that was much talked about in the lead up to the Grand Opening and to date I have heard and seen very little regarding it.

The land does look very nice, but it feels a little 'empty'.
Like a carefully constructed stage made out of eye catching stage furnishings, but with no actors to flesh out the story.

I'm sure I will have a different opinion once experiencing it eventually, but at the moment those are my initial impressions.
I love the look of the Cantina inside , and the effort to make the land look 'lived in' is excellent.
Just wishing I was seeing more other worldly beings strolling around and bringing the 'world' more alive.

"Why does everything have to be franchise-oriented? Because that's our barrier to entry. Because if ANY of our competitors had our intellectual property, guess what they would be doing... the EXACT same thing we're doing." – Bob Chapek

I regret ever impersonating this buffoon. This simpleton from merchandising has NO clue what it takes to be a true industry leader. His literal defense of using IP everywhere in the parks is that its what his competitors would have done. Bravo Bobby, how third grade of you. Way to stand out and be different! I didn't think the bar could get lowered any more.

I enjoyed your impersonation/mockery and never thought you saw Chappie as anything other than an idiot.

Out of curiosity, when and where is this quote from?

I agree. The land feels a little lifeless. At least put some cast members in alien costumes. A few stormtroppers and Chewbacca doesn't cut it.
