California, as far as its geography and natural wonders go, is quite arguably the best state. Mixed in with a rich history and even mythos it would make for a great theme to a park.

But why settle for JUST California when you C A N H A V E P I X A R P I E R

The thing is, you’re right. California has plenty of material and things to work with to dedicate an entire theme park to.
I've seen it over and over, but it never bothers me less. A company executes an idea poorly and the public reacts appropriately to that. Said company, apparently incapable of introspection, surmises that the idea is simply unpopular.

I’m sorry, but I still agree with the original objection to DCA: Why build a theme park about California IN California when tbe REAL California is staring at you with its real Hollywood, real beaches, real National Parks, real Missions, real Santa Cruz Boardwalk and waving its little California arms and saying, “Uh, everyone? I’m right here!”

There are SO MANY OTHER, better themes they could have gone with! But, no, they went with the DCA idea in a greedy attempt to simultaneously pull business away from Knott’s (Old California), Universal (Hollywood) and Magic Mountain (coasters) by offering pale, inferior echoes of all three. DCA started out stupid, improved a lot, and now it’s stupid again. Fun, but stupid.

Well, California has the BEST Theme Park in the World, America's First Theme Park, the Best Roller Coaster Park, first Universal Park, the first Seaworld Park, the first LEGOLAND Park in America, the only park with Circus Trees, etc.
Also the world’s best seaside amusement park. :)

...in any location except California. If you go to Alaska, do you want to see the real Alaska or an artificial, tiny imitation of Alaska...full of bad puns?

Umm, I’m pretty sure Cedar Point is in Ohio. It’s the best roller coaster park, heck best amusement (not theme) park. I’ve been to both, and CP’s coaster profile in my opinion is better then SFMM but what makes CP really shine over SFMM is:
-They have plenty of fantastic flat rides
-They run a coal powered steam train
-Much better entertainment
-It’s not owned by Six Flags
-The Park is located on a peninsula surrounded on 3 sides by Lake Erie
-It doesn’t have a mountain in the middle of it that you have to walk up and down all day.

California is great, but it’s not the end all be all.

Except we have Knotts Berry Farm. (also owned by Cedar Fair). We have real ghost town. Not as many coasters. Great entertainment (see Krazy Kurt & the Hill Billies). They have two steam powered trains. Lots of history. The original log and mine train rides. Stage coaches. Great jam and chicken. Independence Hall. It is the oldest theme park.

No you should go to as many places and experience as much as you can. Cities, national parks, etc. I feel every American should visit Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, the Smokies, New York, Washington DC, Gettysburg, Disneyland or Magic Kingdom, a D1 college football game, a MLB game and a broadway show at some point in their life.

I love Knott’s but it’s a theme park, not an amusement park and while it has a great coaster collection, Cedar Point has nearly as many 200 ft+ coasters as Knott’s entire collection.

Ask any coaster enthusiast what one park you should go to experience roller coasters I guarantee most will say Cedar Point.

This is why we Californians are called stuck up and prissy. Lol.

Lol. I actually have my issues with California. I hate the traffic, smog, congestion etc...

But I didn’t understand what that last comment had to do with the post. The whole post compared SFMM to Cedar Fair. I don’t recall anyone here saying California is the end all be all of anything. So I just want to know what state is the end all be all of states or if such a thing even exists.

I agree, I have my issues, too. And yeah, no one said anything about California being the best state in the Union. This conversation started with me saying the biodiversity is rich here and it sprouted from there.
