That it's supposed to be a PREQUEL to the movie. Talk about taking me out of my suspension of disbelief. Are guests supposed to just forget the movie?

If you are expecting people to "buy" the storyline you have to expand on what they already know, not expect them to forget everything. When you see Stitch as a live breathing AA, they want you to think he is right there with you. How can I if I know this already happened? The logic is terrible.

Has any other Disney movie based attraction attempted to be a Prequel before? (let's hope this is the last one).

Hmm..so just so I understand, your beef is that the attraction isn't set in the present, right?

If that's the case, then aren't there any number of attractions that really aren't set in the here and now? BTMR takes you through a 19th c. mining town, Space Mt. shows a futuristic mode of transportation, Splash Mt. would (presumably) be set sometime in the late 19th-early 20th century, since all the stories had to occur before Uncle Remus told them, and Pirates isn't set in the modern day either, is it? What about Buzz, Star Tours, Snow White, and any others I missed? All set in the past or future, as best I can tell.

Or were you just talking about the fact that the attraction is set before events that we already know about? Even if that is the case, technically ANY attraction set in the past occurs before events we already know about.

OK, that's far too much serious thought put into this. That was just my immediate reaction.

You are not the only one the more I hear about this thing the more I really don't want to see it. I guess one time to say I did it but it better be good for me to want to go back.

The main problem is that the prequel idea doesn't work for a Stitch based attraction. Mainly because:

• The GF doesn't think Humans are smart. Why the heck would they use us to help?
• Expt. 626 is named Stitch by Lilo in Hawaii. Yet they still use the name in the attraction.
• Pleakley isn't called upon until later. He's the Earth expert. What in the heck is he doing in SGE!?
• Food isn't allowed to be taken on a Disney attraction... yet Stitch manages to steal a chili dog... something that's even hard to find in Tomorrowland, let alone not allowed on an attraction.

This flawed storytelling is way too obvious. It must have been done by WDI on purpose. Perhaps they knew the budget was too small, spent it all on the animatronics, and then just make up a story overnight with what was left over from the budget. Then they knew that they would get guest complaints, and the entire attraction would be closed again to be "fixed" and be given more money to fix it, yet still keeping the AAs. It seems like a logical thing for WDI to do now that spending has been cut. So, that might explain quite a bit.

On some un-related notes...

The animation for the attraction was done by an outside company. That is why it looks so bad.

The name Stitch had to be used in order for guests to actually want to see the attraction. I mean, who wants to see Experiment 626's Great Escape!?

Anyway, that's my take on it, what's yours?

You know, that almost makes a certain amount of sense. If WDI makes the ride's story so bad that they have to get more money to fix it, they can spend their initial budget on really good animatronics (which, I hear, are fantastic in SGE).

Anyone know if this is similar to what happened with the first AE that they shortly renovated?

I understand your point and maybe I didn't make it clear enough.

Stitch is a big deal AA that interacts with the guests in the chamber. So most people KNOW who Stitch is and his adventures. If you see something in person, they expect you to pretend you don't know any backstory and that this situation he is stuck in is at the present time?

Something like BTMRR is not character driven or any personal story. And that is a moving ride as opposed to a stationary show where you asre not moving and nothing else is supposed to entertain you.

Something like PoTC is not "personal" based on 1 character, so you can have a set piece and not worry about past, present ot future.

True, he is never called Stitch in the attraction, so they are consistent.

But that is still asking an AWEFUL amount of your pedestrian theme park guest.

Yeah, I kinda see where you're coming from...even though I still think you're putting too much thought into it.

(I would add that pretty much any attraction you've already done once is a similar situation, where you "pretend" not to know the outcome when you already know everything that happens....but I'm not putting too much thought into the matter, of course.) :hammer:

Honestly, I don't try to overthink anything, I go in to every new atraction excited hoping that it is the greatest thing since sliced bread or the cat's meow. Sometime certain things stick out more to me than others.

I guess Stitch suffers from being the biggest movie character driven attraction in awhile, so it seemed very apparent to me.

From everything I've read and the video I've seen of it, he does mention himself as "Stich" when the lights go off. There are a lot of loops with this ride and I hope it's all fixed by when I get down there in Dec. I know it's highly doubtful it'l be perfect but I'm still excited to see it. I just hope I'm not let down when I'm on it.

YES, Stitch does refer to himself by name a few times if I remember correctly.

The thing is, Stitch is not scary, so they need to think of clever and interesting ways to use the restraints.

1. You don't need to be SO technical. Geez. Have you noticed that we're lucky to even HAVE a storyline, when Buzz doesn't really (oh, destroying evil cutouts is really not a storyline).
