The Magic Of Disney Animation closing?

I find it mind boggling how long that awful Little Mermaid show has lasted. It must be really popular with somebody.
In 1990, The Little Mermaid was a wildly popular show. It's well done for what it is, but in most cases these shows shouldn't last 25 years. The only shows that I hope maintain a permanent home are Festival of the Lion King and Aladdin a Musical Spectacular.

I don't think so. The expansion was announced in 2007, TSMM opened in 2008 I believe and then things started to happen in sections starting in 2009. Areas closing and then reopening with new attractions/areas.

In short, nothing like what is currently happening at DHS.
Maliboomer, Golden Dreams and the Tortilla Factory come to mind.

Wait wait wait...

Let me get this straight...people are upset that they are removing the Walt tribute that is currently in a park that he had zero to do with? I could understand if this was in MK or even Epcot..but DHS (MGM) was Eisners baby...One Mans Dream should have never been there in the first place. No..not trolling as I do enjoy the exhibit..but I am also aware that its run its course and could have been better placed somewhere more appropriate.

Man, it is cool when you see a post that encapsulates a thought you've had many times yourself over the years. I think Main Street USA would be perfect for One Man's dream.

Walt himself said the parks would never be "completed", that they would continue to grow and evolve over time. So while change may be hard for us loyalists, it is necessary. I will miss "One Man's Dream" and will definitely check out the videos of it on YouTube from time to time.

I just hope they build new attractions quickly and that they are far better than what they replace. If all we get are restrooms and meet and greets, I'll be very grumpy...

Agreed completely.

IMO, The Beauty and the Beast show has more than run its course and that theater ought to change out every 3-4 years. I've always hated Nemo, so that could go as well (although I doubt it will since the sequel is about to come out). The Little Mermaid is especially oddly placed now that the ride is in the MK and it's time for it to go.

The only other "shows" I wouldn't want to see leave would be Philharmagic and The Muppets, but both are in desperate need of new additions or, in The Muppets case, a complete redo.

Several people (myself included) have armchair imagineered PhilharMagic to have variants like Star Tours. I think that's a cool concept.

Regarding One Man's Dream, the time frame I was given was September, but again not sure on the single source. No idea if it would be relocated anywhere, but I'd love to see it as part of Innoventions or even in the Odyssey (crushing my it's a small world dreams).

Still waiting on my Adventurer's Burger. *sigh*

I really enjoyed ( and still enjoy..) the 'One Man's Dream' walkthrough and it's various displays.
The last couple of years i visited WDW, it was one of only a very small handful of things i was interested in experiencing again at DHS.
It was one of the few worthwhile things to do, in my opinion.

I loved going in there and seeing some of the truly amazing pieces of artifacts on display.
Perhaps you cannot really appreciate some of these as a 'Average Guest' but there are things on display in there that are historic and make a old school 'WED-head' like myself feel very lucky to be able to see them with my own eyes.
I savored that opportunity every visit since it opened in 2001, and enjoyed the updates and slight changes made over the years.

Also, i will confess that i really appreciated seeing the EPCOT Center related relics...including the Figment AA from the 'Performing Arts' segment of the Original JII Attraction, various models, the famous 'Horizons' Robot Butler AA, and other artifacts i recall seeing in full operation back in the day.
To have to chance to see those again was priceless and worth admission into the Park alone, in my opinion.

Considering how little there is to do at DHS these days, it was still a pleasant spot to gain some insight, get inspired, and enjoy looking over some of those gems.
Closing this will be a shame for some of us.
I really enjoyed having this display present at one the WDW Parks.

Having a small display area containing such 'pieces from the past' would be welcome in another location.
I think it's great to have a spot where Guests can go and poke around to learn a little bit more about the history of the Theme Park they are visiting.
The EPCOT 25th Anniversary display that was up for a few years served this same purpose.
It was a nice little 'diversion' for casual visitors to enjoy, and a 'geek-out' spot for Theme Park fans.
This is something that can be appreciated from several different perspectives, when you think about it.

I'd like to see that continue elsewhere if 'One Man's Dream' needs to be closed.

I do tend to think it would be a better fit in either of those two parks. I rather like the idea of it going into the soon to be empty Innoventions building, especially if it can be coupled with a "Blue Sky" area showing planned development in WDW.

They used to have "One Man's Dream" on Main Street. It was called "The Walt Disney Story".

Yeah, I mentioned that before. I could have sworn there was a similar exhibit in the Town Square Theater about Walt's life.

Instead of closing Animation, how about closing that stupid sing along once Frozen Fun is over?
Because it's one of the more popular things in the park? Frozen gets a lot of crap here, but the Sing A Long is absolutely fine for what it is. Add in the comedy warehouse component and it makes it far more tolerable for those people that aren't fans of the music/movie.

Definitely!

Personally, I've always thought The Muppets would be the perfect thing for that kind of tech.

The show would become more as though you're actually going to see a taping of The Muppet Show, rather than just watching a movie (as it is now). It would still be a 3d movie, but it would be a 20 minute "show" and the segments would swap out, so you'd never (or it would be difficult) to see the same show twice. An actual Muppet Show, and everything that could go wrong with it, would make place right before your very eyes.

I poked around a bit at Spirit's posts over the past couple of days but may have missed it. Did the post suggest that Animation was closing or that One Man's Dream was closing as well?
I remember a while back he mentioned that several things were set to close at DHS before the year was up. But never specified what.

That's what I thought. People said something about tearing out the desks and using lapboards for increased capacity in the Animation Academy.
I hope so. At DCA, the capacity is much bigger, and they run the Academy more often as well.

I drew the worst possible Perry the Platypus at DCA a couple weeks ago, but it was still fun.
